The Golden Immortal

I decided to cultivate it before trying to sleep. The energy from the fight still lingered around the building so I took the opportunity to absorb it all. I could feel the power welling inside me. A rabid kind of power that wanted to consume everything in its path. Suddenly once again I was bathed in a golden light. My body felt lighter and stronger the longer the light bathed me in its glow. After the glow disappeared, I decided to get the little bit of rest that I could get. As the sun rose, I got up and got dressed to go meet the old man. I opened my dorm room door to see Molly standing there waiting on me.

"The headmaster is waiting," she said quietly.

She seemed nervous; her body language was extremely off. I followed her as she led me toward the admin building. She walked as if someone was watching her.

"Molly enough with the act what's going on?" I asked stopping in my tracks.

She shuddered to a stop and quickly turned around to show the fear on her face.

"The headmaster is a monster amongst monsters. We need to be careful. He is strong enough to level an entire nation by himself." She said quietly before grabbing my wrist to drag me towards the building.

We hurried through the early morning crowd of students towards a large set of stairs. She dragged me through the hallways of classes that were just starting. She pushed me through a long hallway where a large metal door sat at the end. She lightly knocked on the metal and the door swung open. She pushed me in and quietly followed behind me hiding in the shadows.

"You can stay Molly. Hello Jason. You seemed to have made it through to the Nascent realm. Congratulations are in order. I heard that you even helped Vicky cut loose a bit. Hmmm, the monster seems to fit your rapid progress. You must be a unique individual Jason. Please sit so we can chat." The old man from last night waved his hand towards a large comfy looking chair.

I sat across from the old man, his gentle blue eyes taking in everything around him. I noticed he had been staring at me for a moment. He noticed that I had noticed him, and he smiled.

"Molly come here please." The old man asked without taking his eyes off me.

Molly sheepishly nodded and inched closer to the man with extreme weariness. He motioned for her to bend down, and he whispered something in her ear. Her eyes got wide, and she looked at me then back at him.

"Are you sure?" She asked quietly.

"Are you doubting me now Molly?" He asked coldly.

"Nope" She replied before scurrying off.

"What was that about?" I asked looking at the old man.

"Your body is extremely special. It's called the Heavenly Deity body. What's weird is most of the time only cultivation families can get it. Was your mother from a sect or anything?" He asked.

"I wouldn't know sir my mother passed away when I was young from a car accident. She and my baby sister." I replied quietly.

The old man scratched his beard and looked off into space lost in thought. He then snapped his fingers and a black-clothed figure appeared.

"Look into his background and his mother's background. Let me know what you find, please. I'm sure Jason would like some answers as well." He said ushering the figure off.

The figure bowed and disappeared again into the shadows. The headmaster stood up and motioned for me to walk with him. I got up and followed him, he led me through the school and out towards the garden area. Lucas was feverishly arguing with Molly, who looked extremely annoyed. they turned towards us, and Lucas turned white like a ghost. He bowed toward the headmaster as we approached.

"What do I owe the honor, today headmaster Tom?" Lucas asked without looking up.

"Gather the herbs that I instructed Molly to get from you, stop wasting time Lucas I don't care if they are rare." the headmaster demanded.

Lucas grumbled as he snapped his fingers. Several students began fumbling about grabbing several herbs and handing them to Lucas.

"It's not that they are rare sir, it's what you want to do with them that I have a slight issue with," Lucas grumbled as he handed a bag full of the gathered herbs to the headmaster.

The headmaster simply walked up to him and placed his hand on his shoulder, whispering in his ear. Lucas had a similar reaction as Molly. His eyes got large as he nodded several times, his forehead sweating the more the headmaster talked to him. He nodded once again and began barking at the students to go find more of the herbs that had been gathered. The headmaster turned to me and smiled with a thumbs up. He motioned for him to follow him. He led me back to the waterfall. He sat under a willow tree that shadowed the shore of the lake. I sat beside him and looked out at the peaceful water.

"I'm sure Heng has told you that this path is hard, however, he didn't know you had a god-tier body. The Heavenly Deity is an amazing unknown force in this world, everyone from the immortal fairies to the demonic cultivators is going to try to come after you if you are not strong enough. I have a solution to help you grow immensely however it will be extremely painful. The herbs that I have gathered should help you reach void refining. A two-step jump will do you wonders, not very many will be able to stand before you and win, even now higher realms have a hard time containing you." He said looking at me.

"Pain is all that I knew before Heng, a little more won't stop me. I will use the fires of pain to forge myself into something unstoppable. I refuse to allow anyone to do to me what has been done in the past." I replied with steadfast conviction.

The headmaster nodded and sat in thought. We were seemingly waiting for the rest of the herbs to arrive.
