<< Undead Archer( Elite class monster ) Level 5 >>
<< HP: 900 >>
Elite class monsters of any level were many times stronger than regular monsters. A normal player should be able to go one on one with a normal monsters of the same level, however an Elite monster was definitely a notch higher in terms of strength and speed as well as possibly having special skills that could be used against players.
So basically, an Elite monster had the capability to fight players of a higher level than itself. Piled on top of the fact that it was an undead, an Elite Undead Archer would be able to recover 30 HP Every ten seconds that passed due to regeneration.
So basically, if one wanted to fight an elite monster, one should never even think of going solo. An elite monster needed about 6 or 7 players of the same level before they could even think of fighting such a monstrosity, however, despite knowing fully well the characteristics of such a monster, Ethan didn't even blink and charged head on to fight with such a monster.
If anyone else were here right now, they wouldn't know whether to commend him for his bravery and ridicule him for making such a ridiculous move. A level 1 player without a class, weapons, armor or even any offensive skills actually dared to go up against a level 5 undead.
Even if it was just an archer that wasn't suited for close combat, it was definitely not something Level 1 players could withstand.
Ethan knew this, yet he dared to charge towards the undead anyway. This wasn't because of any stupid comments like bravery and he definitely wasn't an idiot to give his life away for nothing.
He knew very well more than anyone in the whole world, the penalty of dying within the game. Well... Maybe only one person knew just as much as he did.
[ FYI: Not important now as that is a story for another day readers ]
Despite the fact that he currently had no weapons or offensive skills, Ethan was confident in his own strength to be able to face off against an Undead Archer alone. Not to mention the fact that he would probably be able to level up once again after killing this monster.
Currently, he would need to kill a monster several levels higher than him to be able to level up successfully and now, he had his eyes set on this undead Archer. Killing Level 3 monsters would no longer be as effective and would take him a long time to break through to the next level.
In Reverbs universe, the fastest way to increase ones stats was to undergo bloody battles while pushing yourself to the limit each time. And Ethan was definitely going to do just that, if not, he wouldn't be able to temper himself.
As a reincarnated person, If he couldn't even do this much, then he should as well go kill himself by banging his head against a wall.
Ethan's body bent as he prepared to launch himself forward.
"Let's sew how fast I really am!" As soon as he finished his words, his body shot forward like a fierce cheetah after being granted freedom form its cage. He charged forward explosively as his speed continuously accelerated reaching almost 35 miles per hour.
This was the increase in speed due to his Second Seal Active skill Sonic reflexes, and currently, he was only at Level 1 in terms of use of the skill.
Before Ethan had started running, the Undead archer had already fired two more arrows in his direction, however before it reached him, he was already ten yards away from his original position.
In about two seconds, he had already moved ten yards away displaying amazing skill. Seeing this, the undead Archer tool out about five arrows from its quiver and fired rapidly.
Ethan could see that the directions of those arrows had blocked off majority of his escape routes with two aiming for his body. If his reactions weren't fast enough, he would definitely have an arrow embedded into his abdomen meaning game over.
Just as the arrow was about to impact on him, Ethan inclined his body to an unimaginable degree as he nimbly dodged the arrows time and time again as he continued to dash forward after only taking a momentary stop.
His movement speed was so fast that it was able to evade the onslaught of continuous arrows.
200 yards, 180 yards, 175 yards, 160 yards....
Ethan continuously avoided the arrows as if he was always one step ahead of them no matter which way the arrows came from.
His eyes flashed with a fierce gleam as he side stepped, dodging another pair of arrows before dashing forwards once again.
As soon as there were only 140 meters left, the attack pattern of the undead changed as he started firing multiple arrows in different patterns.
Its hand speed could be described as nothing short of impressive even for professional Archer classes, however Ethan knew that the reason for such a fast and fierce shooting pattern and hand speed was because this undead Archer was using a skill.
<< Rapid Fire/ Unranked active skill: Doubles your firing speed and enables you to fire arrows in an unusual pattern for 10 seconds >>
<< Cooldown: 30 Seconds >>
However, as a reincarnated person, the last thing that Ethan would ever do was to panic, especially in such an easy situation.
Seeing the rapid arrows, Ethan pushed his perception stat to its limits as he continuously weaved in and out of the arrow shower with extreme precision and dexterity. His mind had entered into a state of subconsciousness as his body operated entirely on instinct as if it were muscle memory.
<< You have pushed your perception stats to the limit and achieved a breakthrough in your perception >>
<< Because of fully unassimilated Angels source, Your rate of improvement will be twice as fast than ordinary players until assimilation is complete >>
< You have pushed your agility to the limit and achieved a breakthrough/ Your agility has increased >
<< You have pushed your Movement speed to the limit and achieved a breakthrough/ Your movement speed has increased >>
Ethan saw this notifications but due to his deep state of immersed subconsciousness, he automatically ignored it and moved towards the Undead.
However, he could feel that his agility and movement speed were increasing rapidly. Not to mention that his perception was also experiencing the same boost as it became much easier every passing seconds to dodge the multitude of arrows.
100 yards, 90 yards, 70 yards, 50 yards.....
Ethan quickly reached the 40 yards mark. At this point, his reflexes as well as movements were already beginning to become a blur to the level 5 elite undead. Once he reached 30 yards, the undead suddenly let out a loud growl as it directly tool out multiple arrows and began firing 6 arrows at once.
Yep, that's right, Six arrows!!!
"Shit! How Shameless!" Ethan yelled as he saw the undead actions. His facial expression had turned grim as even he would panic under the rain of so many arrows. Once again, his speed was pushed to the max as he hurriedly slid down on the hard, concrete city floor.
Using his perception stat, he narrowly dodged about a multitude of bullets all infused with the undead virus. He leaped back upwards on his feet and gazed at the undead archer with a cold look as if looking at a dead man and dashed forwards covering 20 yards in the blink of an eye.
Technically, he was right on point as the archer was already an undead.
"I'll Fucking kill you again!" Ethan yelled as he arrived in front of the archer. His eyes looked malevolent as he rapidly swung his fists towards the undead archer.
Seeing this, the undead archer hurriedly raised its bow to counter Ethan's punches.
BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!
The undead was pushed backwards by the simultaneous collision of four blows with only a 0.5 seconds interval between each punch.
Four damage points of - 1, - 1, -2, -1 appeared above the undead head.
Despite the fact that Ethan had rushed forward and laid four punches on the Undead, the damage points retained were extremely pitiful. However, this didn't discourage Ethan, however, his anger blazed even more as he looked at the undead.
"Puny Human! Instead of running away, you actually dare to attack me. Prepare to meet your doom".
The undead archer said as it tossed aside the bow that was in its hands. Due to the impact of Ethan's punches which essentially struck the same place four times, although the Undead suffered minimal HP loss, the same couldn't be said for he bow as it had directly snapped in two.
After finishing his words, the undead launched itself towards Ethan while throwing a fierce punch.
"Humph! I'll make sure that you stay dead this time after I kill you". Ethan didn't dare to be careless as he dashed forwards and the two figures instantly engaged in a fierce battle. Both Ethan and the undead swung their fists multiple times forming small collisions time and time again.
BOOM! The sound of two fists colliding could be heard as both figures were simultaneously pushed back. However, Ethan could instantly see who was on the losing side as he had taken 5 steps backwards.
-26
For the first time since the few minutes that the game had opened up, Ethan finally received a few points of damage. Meanwhile, a damage point of about -8 had appeared above the head of the undead, however in front of its 900 HP and 30 HP recovery per second, that was completely negligible.
Ethan's face grew very serious as he dashed forwards once again, not at all affected by the earlier loss he had suffered.
"Does it matter if you are stronger than, me? What's the point of you can't even land a hit". Ethan said inwardly as he stretched his perception and engaged in a high speed fight between him and the Undead, however, unlike this time, Ethan didn't attack head on and continuously circled around the undead while landing furious punches.
-10, -12, -7, -7, -9, -13...
A series of damage points appeared over the undead head as Ethan mercilessly used his superior speed to slowly shave away the HP of the undead.
It had to be said that undead monsters were truly hard to deal with. Earlier, Ethan had been able to defeat level 3 goblins with ease, however, this archer was much harder to deal with. It was no exaggeration to say that its defense was extremely high.
However, with the damage points he was dealing, his overall damage landed exceeded the Undeads scope of recovery.
"Shameless He Goat! Die for me". The undead threw out a punch but Ethan had already nimbly dodged to the side. At the same time, his face was extremely livid as he processed the words of the Undead.
"Who are you calling a He Goat you fool? Taste my rage!" Ethan yelled as he bombarded the Undead with fists of fury. Due to a undeads regeneration abilities, their regeneration was much higher than normal monsters.
Ethan knew that this was going to be a dull and bitter process, however he persevered and continued to madly attack while dodging at the same time. Also, while he was attacking, he could feel that his speed was constantly rising significantly at a rapid pace.
Time passed slowly as Ethan had whittled the Undeads HP to 671 points. At this moment...
<< You have pushed your strength stat to the limits and have achieved a breakthrough in your strength >>
Ethan's eyes widened as he saw the notification. At that moment, BOOM! He could feel the barrier hindering his strength stat collapse as his level of strength continued to improve a rapid pace. His eyes turned fierce as his attacks grew stronger and increasingly more ferocious.
At this pace, Ethan's punches had become stronger and each punch could deal more than 15 points of damage on the Undead. Feeling his strength increase explosively, Ethan couldn't help but let out a loud shout as he couldn't hold the urge within him.
Whenever any of his stats broke through, Ethan would feel a tingling sensation within his body that would make him feel like moaning.
However, that wasn't all.
<< Your Stamina has been pushed to a great deal and you have achieved a breakthrough in your stamina stat >>
Feeling his stamina increase as well, Ethan continued to attack. There was no way he was giving up on killing this monster especially when he was so close. Not only would he be able to possibly level up but there was a high chance that he could get some decent loot from the corpse of this undead.
"Fight". The cold glint within his eyes intensified as he continued to madly punch around with his fists.
And surely, the undead HP was dwindling.
19%, 18%, 14%, 10%........
"Die!" Ethan screamed when the HP of the undead was just 1% left. He put all his strength into a single blow and appeared before the undead like a flashing ghost. His speed had reached such a terrifying point that not even the undead could keep up with it.
Ethan threw out his punch which landed on the Undeads body before it could even properly react.
Damage of -57 points appeared over the head of the undead taking away the last 17 HP left within it. The undead was instantly sent flying like it had been hit by a train into the distance.
System Notification>> You have defeated an [Elite class monster/ Undead Archer]
The yellowish orb flew away from the undeads body and merged into Ethan who stood there with a triumphant grin on his face. He had won, He had won a fight against an Elite monster four levels ahead of him.
Not to mention, he had also greatly benefitted from it during the process.
Ethan felt gratified at the thought of it. The first thing he wanted to do was check his stat points but he decided against it and ran towards the dead body of the undead.
With a face full of expectation, he began to search the undeads corpse. The chances of an elite monster dropping some good stuff was much better than a common monster. Not to mention that Ethan was from the future, so he had a good idea of what kind of drops might appear due to his experience in dealing with undead.
"Fingers crossed!" Ethan exclaimed inwardly as he searched the corpse of the undead. After looking at the corpse, Ethan had a bright smile on his face. Sure enough, his expectations were not let down as he pulled out a dark red book from the Undead corpse.
"Sure enough, the chances of getting a skill book is much higher for an Elite monster". Ethan sighed as he inspected his loot.
In the corpse of the undead, Ethan found a skill book, as well as 20 copper coins. Don't underestimate these rewards as even during the early stages, 20 copper coins could be considered as a relatively good amount.
Not to mention the fact that a skill book had actually appeared. In the early stages of the game, it had taken players precisely 5 days before they could successfully obtain skill books.
<< Lesser regeneration( 1st order passive skill: Allows user to heal any wounds at the cost of Mana points. The speed of regeneration depends on the immensity of the injury as well as the amount of Mana supplied >>
Taking a look at the skill on the book, Ethan's eyes lit up as he directly chose to learn the skill. Not only did it run on Mana but it was also a passive skill.
This skill was well suited for him as not only did he have infinite Mana, but this skill wouldn't take up any slots for the amount of skills he was able to learn.
In Reverbs Universe, before reaching Level 25 and successfully obtaining a class, players were only allowed to assimilate with 3 Active skills. This was the reason why Ethan had warned Eric about assimilating useless skills as any active skill assimilated would mean one more slot gone.
Passive skills on the other hand, players could assimilate as many as they wanted. However, Passive skills were just as rare, if not rarer than active skills and useful passive skills were the hardest to obtain.
Until this point, Ethan only had one Active skill which was the Super sonic speed/ Reflexes. However, the skill was assimilated by the plundering system so Ethan didn't know if it could be considered as taking up a slot or not.
Nevertheless, he didn't regret it one bit as it was more than worth it. This speed skill was literally the best speed skill he had ever seen or heard of. Other active speed skills would add a certain number of stat points upon either the agility stat or movement speed stat while more advanced skills would provide extra boosts such as gravity boost or lightness to increase speed.
This skill however, directly doubled whatever his agility stats were at the moment it was activated. Such a skill may not be as valuable as those other skills at the early stages of the game, but upon reaching the higher levels, they would practically be invaluable if not more.
Imagine being able to double your agility stat at the 6th Seal, you would practically be invincible among those of the same rank.
While Ethan was daydreaming, the entire world was in chaos. This was because, another Grand announcement had appeared a few minutes after the first resounded. However this news was even more shocking than the first and had shaken the entire gaming world to its core.
<< Congratulations to Player Neo who has successfully become the first player ever to Kill a Level 5 Elite Boss >>
