I'm late. Last night I had a hard time closing my eyes. Insomnia is more common these days.
Once I arrived at the class, I hastily occupied one of the empty seats. Not long after, a tap was felt on my right shoulder. I looked back.
"Minka?" called a girl sitting right behind me. I tilted my head and looked at her. I don't think I've ever seen her before.
"Yeah?" I said. This girl had dark brown eyes with wide, round eyes. Her black hair was tied back into a ponytail. She looks pretty sweet. Just like a type of sweet girl who doesn't talk much.
"My name is Tamara," she said as she held out her hand. My right hand greeted her.
"I also took up Visual Communication Design like you. We are only in different classes, but I was forced to enter this class because my schedule collided," She explained. Oh, no wonder I don't know her. She's never been in the same class as me before.
"I just wanted to make sure. No offense, okay?" She looked at me curiously. I nodded my head.
"You're the Governor's daughter, aren't you? Daughter of Mr. Tama Dinata?"
I swallowed my smile. I thought that girl was going to ask an important thing. Turns out...
"Yes," I answered simply.
Tamara threw a smirk at me. The next second she smirked again. "Okay, I just wanted to ask that," She smiled at me again and continued to write notes in her book.
What's with this girl?
***
I had lunch at a seafood restaurant near the campus with Kimmy. I just met her during the discussion assignment, and she has told me the most about her personal life. Good thing for me cause Kimmy is an easy-going girl. I don't need to talk too much.
While I finished the prawns in salted egg sauce, she was busy telling me everything she could tell. Even though at that time, her mouth was still full of food. It's been almost a quarter of an hour, and she told about her love experience with her fourteen exes. Apparently, she likes to collect exes.
"He's actually quite handsome. But I think he has made me feel bad since the first time we met. That's because of his mouth. Ugh, super smelly. If I remember him, it makes me want to throw up."
"Yeah, don't worry about him anymore. You're eating anyway," I chuckled.
She glanced at her food. "That's right." Then sip the lemon tea carefully. "What about you, Ka? Tell me about your ex!"
I don't have an ex. There isn't one. So how do I tell the story?
"I have not ..."
Oh shit. I'm ashamed to admit it.
She looked at me curiously. "Not what yet?"
Well, I have to answer it. Who knows Kimmy can be an excellent friend to pour my heart out.
"I've never been on a date," I finally answered. I looked doubtfully at Kimmy, who was silent after revealing the embarrassing thing to her.
And what was annoying was the girl looked at me as if my head had grown into four.
"You've never..." She didn't continue. I nodded my head and then looked at my interlocked fingers.
Instantly she spoke loud enough for all the diners to hear.
"Goddamn it, Minka!" She drank her drink again. "How could it be?" She demanded. I immediately covered her mouth. Shit, this is embarrassing.
"Don't scream!" I removed my hand from her mouth. "People are looking at us!"
Actually, not really. People just glanced at us, then went back to the food. No one really cares.
"Okay, okay. I'm just surprised," She said. "You're beautiful, smart, sweet, have a nice body, and a daughter of a rich man. No matter where you are, you're like a walking diamond. There must be something wrong in your life. Tell me. Who knows, I might be able to help."
After that, I told her everything, from my father's attitude to his care for me. Anyway, all that stuck in my heart, I pour it out. I think I can trust this girl.
Kimmy listened to me intently. "Okay, so one conclusion. The point is, you want to live freely, right?"
"Correct."
That girl nodded her head. "I'm a good guesser."
Kimmy's cell phone suddenly ringing tone. She immediately checked. A few seconds later, she smiled so wide like an idiot.
"My Bae has come!" She screamed after turning off the phone.
Yep, lucky her. Has a man who can pick her up and bring her to wherever she wants. Not a driver.
"I'll go first." She stood up hastily. "If you want to talk, just text me or call me or come to me. I will listen to you. But I'm so sorry I have to leave now. My Bae is waiting. Bye, Minka." Kimmy walked towards the exit with a half-run.
And … I'm all alone again…
There are still twenty minutes before Min arrives.
After paying for my food, I rush out. It's still drizzling, and I don't bring an umbrella. Plus, I'm already out. I'm too lazy to go back to that place.
A short walk doesn't sound bad.
After only a few minutes of walking, two pairs of sturdy hands were in both of my hands. It happened suddenly without me realizing it. One of those hands put a cold, sharp object around my neck. As if it is ready to be used to slash my head at any moment.
"Don't scream, or I'll cut your neck off," the man threatened. The two of them gripped my hands tightly.
Damn, I can't move.
My feet kicked here and there. It's so useless. Before I could scream, a painful sting was hot on my neck. I glanced at the man holding the syringe in his right hand.
The smell of the liquid in the syringe was powerful. The smell occupied my whole consciousness. The scent is really disgusting.
My hands and feet are still moving, but I forget whether my lips are making a sound or not. My head felt heavy, and my eyes slowly betrayed my attempt to escape by closing them. My head is spinning. Everything revolves.
I remember that my hands were handcuffed by that person, and my body was thrown into their car.
Everything turned white.
White ... as white as a bright cloud that just flashed before me.
