Harvey barely had any time to figure out what to do with the information that Shuule had just sprung on him, the flapping of oversized wings obvious in the distance. The birds were back, with Anna and the babies in tow. The men on the ground would be there within the hour as well, probably picking up the pace once they hit the frozen river, which made for faster passage and easy navigation.
Shuule grinned falsely and sympathetically. "Uh.... oops? It wasn't planned," she offered as apology.
"Clearly," growled the wolf. "Harv, are these guys going to attack me? I won't fight them, but if they get on me, you know all bets are off."
Shuule waved her arms in front of her as an answer. "I don't know who the hell you are," she snapped back, "and if you touch a hair on Anna's head, I'll attack you myself. But I'll head them off."
