Chapter Ten: Two Years

From that day forward, Fate spent almost every hour of her day training. Whenever she was hungry, she'd go out and hunt the deer and other creatures in the forest. She found a nearby lake and used that for her water and for cleaning herself, of course she made sure to filter it before drinking.

The more she used her body, the more she liked it. She could now wrap her tail around objects and move them. She figured out how to work her claws into her martial arts to make herself more deadly. She even figured out how to incorporate her fangs and use her senses to their fullest potential as well.

She was becoming more beast like in her fighting style and a bit in her nature too. She knew it was because of her body and instincts as a Fallen, but she didn't care in the slightest. She was feeling emotions that she never did in her past life. The enjoyment of training and hunting. The calm and peace in her mind. And just like that, two years passed by.

Fate was currently sitting in a lotus position, absorbing the energy from the air. She did this because she found that the core of the energy in her heart could actually grow in size the more she absorbed. This meant that she'd have more energy and could fight with it for longer periods of time. But she could only do this a bit at a time, otherwise a huge pain would shoot through her body. Fate worried that she could die if she absorbed too much at one time.

She finished absorbing her energy for today, got up, and looked at herself in a pail of water. She had grown a bit larger, but what she was really looking forward to were her teenage years where her body would develop. Her face was even more beautiful than it was in her last life. She pictured her further self as a beautiful wolf girl, with a curvy, but muscular body that'd be able to make even women drool over her.

She smiled and began chuckling just thinking about it, "If I find someone in this life that I like, I'm not going to hold myself back like a did before. Although, with how Fallen are looked down upon, I might only be able to attract other Fallen, not that that's a bad thing. I think it'd be awesome if I found a cute cat girl. Hehe," she said, licking her lips.

She had gotten a bit lonely by herself over the past two years. All she had to talk too were herself and the skeletons of those three idiots that tried to enslave her. That's why she was relishing the idea currently in her head.

However, as she was thinking these thoughts, she heard a noise to her left. She instantly stood up and readied herself got a fight… only to see a small glob of black slime. It was about the size of a soccer ball and was just sitting there, like it was trying to analyze her.

"Is that a slime? I wonder if slimes are monsters or just considered normal animals in this world. Either way, it's kind of cute."

At that point, a long tendril came out of the slim and shot towards Fate, she jumped out of the way and watched the tentacle hit the wall with enough for to crack it. Fate was bewildered. How could something so small have so much power?!

"Hey! I just complimented you, you little asshole! That's how you return a complement?!"

The slime didn't answer. Instead it simply attacked her with another tentacle made out of its body. This time it hit a pillar with enough force to make it topple over, and kept attacking.

Fate had no idea why the slime was attacking her. However, she didn't want to kill it. On the next strike, Fate dodged and closed the distance between them. She believed that it couldn't create more than one tendril at a time.

But, this idea was quickly disproven. The slime absorbed back some of the substance of the tentacle it was attacking with, and made another to strike Fate as she was closing in.

That's when she realized, 'It can only use so much of its body to attack. It has limits. Limits that I can take advantage of.'

As the tendril approached her, she swiped at it with her claws, cutting off that piece of its body. The slime seemed shocked, and Fate neared it, putting the tips of her claws against the slime's squishy body.

"Listen up, little guy, I don't know if you can understand me, but you lost this one. However, I don't want to kill you. I want you to become my pet. But, if you keep attacking me, then I'll tear you to shreds. Got it?"

The slime seemed to understand its situation as quickly bobbed up and down, as if it was nodding nervously. Fate smiled to this, lowered her claws and picked the slime up. She also got the parts she slashed off and reattached them. She put her face on the slime's body and sighed in relief.

"You're so cool! You'll be a great snuggle partner. The nights around her can be pretty warm, especially for someone partially covered in fur. Now, what to name you. Let's see… you don't seem to have a gender… your black as night… I think I'll name you Nyx. That's the name of the greek goddess of night. What do you say to that name?"

It bobbed itself up and down again, seemingly excitingly, "Then from now own, you're Nyx. And if you're wondering, my name is Fate."

With this, Fate wouldn't be so lonely. That night, Fate slept with her new pet slime. However, she was also on guard as she didn't know whether it would eat her in her sleep. But, contrary to her wanting to be on guard, as soon as she singled up with it in her makeshift bed of animal pelts, she instantly fell asleep.

The next morning she woke up to find Nyx right beside her, seemingly resting as well. However, she found herself wondering what it ate. Later that day, her question was answered when it dissolved the bones of the animals carcass she brought back after she cleaned them.

Fate smiled as she ate. Nyx was the first companion she made in this new world. And as she would soon see, it wouldn't be her last.
