Erin wanted to give her daughter, Charlie, a normal childhood, but Charlie isn't a normal child. Charlie and her mother are both witches. After escaping government captors, Erin gave birth on the run and spent many years moving Charlie from town to town to avoid being locked up and experimented on. When Charlie started high school, Erin made a promise they wouldn't move again until she had graduated. Now, they've made it to senior year without issue but when a new kid shows up at school, Charlie notices something strange about him. In order to uncover the truth, she begins acting out of character and going behind her mother's back to handle everything on her own. Charlie's reckless behavior opens the door for trouble to quickly find them once again. With Erin as her teacher, Charlie still has a lot to learn before she is ready to face the unknown evils that have been after them for all these years.

	“Either of you two know what happened to the store back there?” The police officer asks casually, eyeing both of us under the street lamp.


	“No, officer. We have no idea,” Max says and I let him speak for the both of us. I don’t want to lie to the officer and technically Max isn’t lying, he really has no idea what happened. Mac continues to recount the events of the night, that he remembers, “all I remember was her ex-boyfriend harassing her, I tried to be a knight in shining armor and protect her but I ended up on my ass, unconscious.”


	The officer looks over at me to corroborate the story. I nod along to show we are in agreement. The cop looks at me a little longer then says, “Charlie, right? Erin’s kid?”


	“Yeah, how do you know that?” I take a step back, worried, and touch my locket. Either it actually stopped working this time or the officer isn’t someone I need to worry about.
