Chapter 29: Let It Happen

COHEN

I stood in the shadows of the hallway as my warriors gathered and got ready to leave, but I wasn't paying attention to them.

I watched Ellie as she carried a big bowl of popcorn into one of the living rooms and sat on the couch, placing the bowl between her and Sarah.

They started talking and laughing and I hated it.

I didn't like the way Ellie's features lit up for someone else. I didn't like that she was bonding with another person.

I wanted her all to myself.

I let loose a growl and stormed off down the hallway, heading for Lance and the waiting SUV.

I didn’t want to like Ellie, damnit. I didn't want to feel this overwhelming need to be near her. I didn't want this possessive obsession coursing through my veins.

But the mating call was strong, Ellie was amazing, and I was weak.

"Ready?" Lance asked as I neared him.

I nodded and climbed into the passenger seat without a word.
