COHEN
My ears were ringing.
In the back of the SUV, Ellie was singing softly to Aileen, but she was getting louder and louder as our baby did the same.
I remembered hearing that some babies calmed down in the car.
Not Aileen. Every single trip turned into a complete nightmare.
Next time we had to go to the Council, I'd take the helicopter.
When Lance finally parked the SUV, all the adults scrambled out as Aileen finally stopped screaming.
My eyes found my mate, and I couldn’t hold back my bark of laughter.
Ellie was stunning, as always, but she looked like she'd been through a war. Her hair was knotted and wild and there was a smear of blood on her cheek. Her eyes were exhausted.
Neither of us got much sleep these days.
Vampire babies had two feeding schedules. One for milk, which Ellie was able to provide, and another one for blood, which I provided. We usually did both fresh, but for trips like this one, we used bottles.
"I'll get her," I said.
