INTERRUPTIONS

Jenny was very confused about the sultry manner in which Michael spoke to her. The way he looked at her bothered her. It was like he was just seeing her for the first time. His gaze was intense and his language was so uncut towards her. She wondered if it had to do with the new set of clothing that Mrs Bose got for her.

The Boss's mother had ordered some new sets of designer gowns, shoes and even expensive wigs for her. Jenny was grateful and she relayed her gratitude in so many ways to Mrs Bose. The new look made her seem sophisticated. She was always admired whenever she appears in church.

She replayed the entire conversation she had with Mr Michael in her head, all day. Even when she took Stephanie out for shopping that afternoon, using the card her father provided, her circle of thought still pondered on what made her attractive to him suddenly. She bought Stephanie some new under wears, some foot wears, some gorgeous hair accessories, jewelries and writing pads for journaling.

Stephanie was so happy that she repeatedly hugged Jenny so many times in the mall. Later on, the both of them went out to a fast food restaurant to take some ice cream and some snacks. Jenny kept holding Stephanie's hand through out all their walking about. This made them bond like mother and daughter. Jenny asked a couple of strangers to take photographs of them and afterwards they took some lovely selfies together which they sent to Mrs Bose.

When they returned back home, Jenny asked Stephanie to take the luggages upstairs and also called for Ahmed, who also assisted in bringing them down from the car. Mrs Bose was stunned at the amount of things Jenny bought for Stephanie. She insisted that she must be a part of the next shopping spree. Michael who was seated in the living room when they arrived, told Stephanie to inform Jenny who was outside at the time, to bring his card to him upstairs.

When Jenny brought in the remaining bags, Stephanie informed her of her father's request. Jenny was jittery at first, but summoning some courage, she walked upstairs, to his room door and knocked on the door.

"Jenny you can come in" Michael answered from inside the room before she could knock a second time.

Jenny opened the door and found him seated on a single seater cushion in his room, turning his head so he could be looking at the window. She walked in majestically leaving the door open as she stretched out the card to him. His room was large and spacious. He had a king size bed and a walk in closet too. He also had an office space in a corner to the left which accommodates two laptops and other devices. She glanced around and finally focused on him but he still was not looking at her.

"Which shops did you take my daughter to?" Michael asked still not looking at her or collecting the card either.

"I took her to shops that I found their prices reasonable sir. I am sorry if I spent too much sir."

"Next time, please take her to known brands. My girl should be clothed in luxuries not cheap unnamed stuffs. That is why I work hard Jenny. Don't you think so?" He asked.

He finally raised his head, to look in her direction. She did not respond to his last statement. He could see clearly the disgust in her eyes and he saw her struggling to keep still, for she held her tongue back from pouring insults on him.

"Please take your card. I would like to go and get dinner started sir"

"Jenny what about my earlier request?" He asked slowly, collecting the card from her and holding her hand at the same time.

"What request sir? I don't seem to remember you making any" Jenny said, firmly detaching their hands with her left hand.

"Jenny i am hungry, You are a beautiful woman and I said I wanted to get in between your fresh legs. I have a strong hard on for you even right now. You can touch it you know." He said standing up to facing her.

"Jesus Christ! you are such a pervert. Are you not ashamed of yourself. You can have anyone you want. A whole 37 years old man, flirting with a girl young enough to be your kid sister." Jenny said rolling her eyes at hi..

"But you are not my sister and its you i want. I want to fuck you now, I want to take you so hard that you would be breathless. Name your price Jenny and it will be granted."

"Look Mr Michael, I am not for sale, neither am i available. if you do not like my services any more, you should inform me on time and I will leave your home and go somewhere else." She said with tears already in her eyes. She did not want the man to fire her but he looked so unreasonable.

"Where would you go in this Abuja that i cannot find you? Is it because i am begging you, do you want me to blacklist you so that you don't see work anywhere else? Or do you want me to frustrate you.?"

"Mr Michael what have i done to deserve this? I have been up and doing in all my services. Why are you treating me this way?"

Jenny said as she began to cry.

"Aunty Jenny is everything okay?!" Stephanie asked as she was standing at the front of the room.

"Daddy what did you say to Aunty Jenny? Why is she crying" Stephanie walked in looking sad.

"I....: i "Michael stuttered.

"He didn't say anything. He made me think about my Dad. I just miss my Daddy. Come lets go and get dinner on the table my love."Jenny said

They both walked out of Michael's room and He wondered how much of his disgusting statements his daughter had heard. He suddenly felt so embarrassed and his erection immediately went out like a deflated balloon.

When Jenny got downstairs, she met Mrs Bose still admiring the hair accessories she got for Stephanie her grand daughter. She complimented Jenny's unique taste and colour combinations from the pins, to the bows and even the clips.

She was so excited at the wares and grateful to Jenny who took the time to make her grand daughter feel very special. Stephanie on the other hand also promised to do better in her next term examinations so she could get more presents. She assured Jenny that her results will be exceptional in her junior secondary school examinations coming soon. She is expected to move into the senior secondary school in the next term and She has been excited about it. Jenny kissed her on the head, assuring her that she was already proud of her and together they walked into the kitchen to begin cooking.

That evening while they were all at the dinner table, Jenny made an announcement. She thought about it while she cooked and decided that it would help Mr Michael. She had made a meal of coconut rice and roasted mackerel fish. She also served some pineapples and watermelon as the appetisers. As soon as they wanted to begin eating, they suddenly heard a knock on the front door.

"Are we expecting anyone?"Mrs Bose asked.

"I am not expecting any guests tonight. Besides, a visitor would probably call me not badge on me this late". Michael grunted. He had been frowning since he came down for dinner. But that was not anything new, hence no one questioned his hard faced look.

"I am not expecting anyone as well grand ma"Stephanie added.

"Let me go and check it out." Jenny said as she stood up from the table. Before she could move an inch, Stephanie got up.

"I'll go check it out Auntie Jenny, just sit down and dish the food. Let me see who is it".

While she went, Mrs Bose noticed the sadness in Jenny's expression and she was worried.

"Jenny is everything okay" she asked

"Oh yes ma, everything is well."

Before she could continue the conversation, they heard Stephanie scream "Uncle Deji!!!"

"Hey beautiful how are you?"

He said as he wrapped his hand around his little cousin.

"I am fine. Welcome! Do come inside"

"Mummy good evening ma" Deji greeted as he walked in, towards the dining.

"Good evening Deji, when did you return from America?"

Mrs Bose asked as the young man prostrated before Mrs Bose. He was light skinned like Mr Michael, handsome and also a six ft tall handsome man.

Michael got up to hug him as they exchanged pleasantries laughing.

"Jenny this is Deji. He is my younger sister's son. He has been doing his master's program in America." Mrs Bose said proudly

"Good evening sir. You are most Welcome sir" Jenny said

"Thank you beautiful. Who is this goddess?" Deji asked and Jenny blushed. Michael noticed her expression and he felt irritated. He wondered what made her smile. Deji is his younger cousin and he has a very silky voice but he was more handsome and richer.

"She is my Nanny" Stephanie said loudly. Everyone on the table laughed.

"Are you not too old to have a nanny?" Deji asked.

"Not at all. She is the best there is and she is mine" Stephanie declared.

"I am yours my darling. let me get an extra plater for you sir" Jenny said as she walked into the kitchen.

"This actually smells so good. I wanted to ask you guys where you ordered coconut rice like this in this Abuja" Deji said.

"No we did not, Aunty Jenny made it" Stephanie replied.

"Wow, a Nanny and a cook. Is she in any way related to sister Laura?" Deji asked and Michael nodded in the negative.

Jenny soon returned with an extra plate and more of the coconut rice and fish for Deji.

"This is a unique packaging i must say. A chef with a touch of excellence" Deji complimented and Jenny smiled again.

"Please can we say a prayer. I think it's Stephanie turn". Jenny said.

Deji chuckled but to his utmost surprise, the young girl led a simple but pleasant prayer.

"I must admit that Stephanie, you sound different and you look so chubby. What have you been eating?" Deji

"This is all Jenny's handwork. She has been feeding my grand child back to back" Mrs Bose said.

"Grandma you know her exam was tedious. I needed her to be well-nourished for it. I did not want her to fall ill at all" Jenny said.

"Thank you for taking care of my cousin. You are doing a good job" Deji complimented once again and Michael coughed.

"That reminds me I'd like to take a couple of days off work ma. I wanted to make the announcement earlier before Sir Deji came in. Just two days is all I ask. I want to go and see my family and take some money to them. I've been working for three months and I do believe it's time for me to give them something."

"Oh Jenny, you are always so thoughtful of others"Mrs Bose said.

"I have saved enough to give to them and I think I want to go immediately after Stephanie's birthday party. If its okay with you sir" She asked Michael who was very uncomfortable with the idea but kept mute.

"You know what my darling, two days is too small. Take a week. You see, family is important. You've never asked for anything since you began working here. I will give you the sum of 500,000 to give to your family".Mrs Bose declared.

"Oh you don't have to do that ma. Its too much" Jenny said already tearing up.

"I will add another 500,000 naira to it" Michael finally said.

"Your family deserves that. You're a wonderful staff." He complimented and she did what he did not expect.

Jenny immediately got up and knelt down before them.

"Oh please get up Jenny, you don't have to greet us like that. Your thank you is enough" Mrs Bose said as Jenny suddenly started sobbing.

"Thank you so much ma. Thank you for everything you have been doing for me. Thank you so much Mr Michael" Jenny said in the midst of her sobs.

"Oh Jenny you don't have to cry. You seem like good person and I can testify that this coconut rice taste so good" Deji said.

"I don't even know why Aunty Jenny is crying. She said she misses her late daddy when i saw her crying in Daddy's room earlier " Stephanie said and Michael coughed again. His mother glared at him.

"So how much do i have to give to you Aunty Jenny?" Everyone laughed at Stephanie's outburst.

"You don't have to give me anything my love. Just keep doing so well. Being well behaved is the best gift you can ever give me." Jenny said as she reached out to touch Stephanie while returning to her seat.

"I'm really liking you already Jenny" Deji said and everyone laughed again except for Michael this time. He glared at Deji and wished for him to stop with his flattering. It was becoming too much.

"Anyways like you have heard, my name is Deji. I am a fin tech consultant. My company sent me for some jobs in Abuja. Funny enough, i wanted to stay at an instant apartment "

"Haba Deji, how can you do that, when your cousin is here" Mrs Bose said.

"To say the truth, Mummy, i didn't think you were still in Nigeria. I thought you had gone back to England since. But now i know you are here and this beautiful cook is here, the next six months is settled already." Deji said.
