Sarah secretly began to hatch her plan of uncovering the person who had been acting as a secret agent to Regina her employer. She had her suspicion of Bisola the cleaner. However, Bisola was rarely downstairs whenever she resumes her duty every morning. She goes from room to room, cleaning and doing laundry services. She was also not around during the weekends.
Daily, Sarah went about with this task of uncovering the person who had been spying on her in the house with utmost devotion. She became more respectful to Jenny. She was also very friendly to Stephanie but the young girl was cautious with her. It seems hard to make her happy.
Even though Jenny had resumed cooking, Sarah was still assigned to make some Meals for the family. She knew for a fact that Deji disliked eating her food, hence she preferred making snacks. Jenny's cooking expertise was quite elaborate. She had the skill for both local and international cuisine. Yet, she was very humble whenever her meals were praised. She had this contentment whenever everyone has eaten.
The following week Stephanie resumed school and Sarah got to see another side of Jenny. Sarah was impressed at Jenny's care for the billionaire's child. It was as though she considered herself the child's mother.
Every morning, before Sarah resumes work, Stephanie must have had her breakfast. This is because Jenny always wakes up early. Sarah often wondered if she slept at all. Stephanie also takes several cups of muffin cake to school for her teachers. Her lunch was packed in a beautiful box like a queen. Jenny made certainly, that she had lots of fruits, eggs, cereals, and meats in her daily food timetable. Even to her school uniform, Jenny made sure she had three different pairs.
Her after-school activities were also of great concern to her. She was very meticulous in drafting a timetable and ensuring there is no television time until the weekend. Everyone in the house was informed of these changes. It was done to help Stephanie prepare for her forthcoming junior WAEC examination.
Jenny wanted the child to do so well in her academic performance. She also made sure that after school, Stephanie rest for a couple of hours before Jenny begins home tutoring her. Sarah could see why Michael had fallen for her. Who would go through all this stress for another man's child? She definitely would not. It became obvious that seducing Michael was an uphill task.
On the other hand, Sarah observed that Mrs. Bose who was always downstairs became so busy. Sarah would notice that she would leave the house in the morning to return in the evening. She wondered what new business the elderly woman was involved with.
After two weeks of Stephanie's resumption, Sarah decided she would try to make Stephanie Like her. Perhaps the way to Michael's heart could very well be through his unfriendly daughter. She wanted the father, so she knew she had to get close to her. She also made sure she showered Michael with seductive glances to further buttress her desires for him
One morning, she resumed quite early. She hoped to surprise the family with an exquisite breakfast but Jenny was already up. Sarah requested to make some snacks for Stephanie but Jenny already made them the previous night. Jenny was so proactive about certain things.
To further make matters unbearable, that evening Regina called her that her time was over in the Oladokun's house and she should pack her things in readiness to leave by the end of the day.
Sarah decided to take matters into her own hands by meeting Mrs. Bose on her terms. She knew Mrs. Bose controlled the employment offer and she needed the woman on her side.
That evening at the close of work, she met the elderly lady in the living room where she was busy writing on a piece of paper. She looks engrossed in the calculations she was making.
"Good evening ma"
"Good evening Sarah. How are you?"
"Am fine ma. I'd like to talk to you about something very serious ma"
"Please go on Sarah"
"I know we agreed for me to be here for one month and it's one month already, but I was looking for an extension."
" That is very true we can get you a one-month extension at least until after the wedding." The older lady said nonchalantly.
"Which...which wedding ma?" Sarah stammered.
"oh, Jenny's wedding. I thought you knew. I've been so busy going to the village. I have met her people and we have completed the traditional arrangement. So, the wedding will be coming up in two weeks or even less according to Michael's desires." The woman laughed at her joke while Sarah was shocked.
She could not believe what she just heard. The end game for Jenny was married and she didn't see it coming. They were getting married!
"Yes, they are" Mrs. Bose answered her with her eyes shining bright. Sarah did not realize that she had said the last part of her thoughts aloud. The looks on Mrs. Bose's face made her embarrassed.
"Anyways with the marriage taking place so soon, we need an extra hand. You see, I have been doing the shopping for it. You know Jenny is so busy with Stephanie and she wouldn't even let anyone take care of that girl but herself."
"oh yes, ma... She is very busy ma" Sarah concurred.
"So you will need to stay put. I will speak to Regina about it so that Jenny doesn't stress herself so much. She has to look like a very beautiful bride.
Right now, I am so sure she's busy doing after-school lessons with Stephanie upstairs. I wouldn't want her to be overly stressed. Hope you understand."
"Yes, ma. I do. I agree with you" Sarah replied.
As they talked Michael returned from work.
"Mummy good evening. How are you ma?"
"Good evening son. I am doing great."
"Good evening sir"
"Good evening Sarah. How are you?"
"I'm very fine sir"
"Where are my babies?" "I am sure they are upstairs" Mrs. Bose replied smiling.
Sarah watched the love-struck man climb upstairs and wonder why life is unfair to her.
