What Was Felt and What Was Not

The first thing that Cynthia registered before she opened her eyes was the unusual smell surrounding her, and right after that, the discomfort in her arms and hands at the sensation of needles puncturing her skin and staying inside. She then registered the uncomfortable feeling in her lungs each time she breathed. She was so disoriented, that she wondered whether she should open her eyes or just keep them shut for now.

She squeezed them further deciding that it was the right thing to do as she wasn't ready for it, Cynthia didn't want to remember why she was in a hospital in the first place.

"Cynthia baby?"

Her husband's strangled soft voice was a welcomed one since it came from her right side, she tried to move her right arm in his direction before she opened her eyes just to make sure that she'd see his face right when her eyelids went up, the warmth that was pressed against her arm suddenly shifted down to her hand as he grasped it with both of his hands.
