Chapter-81: Swordsmith Village

———————————————\\\\\\\\\\\\\\

3rd POV |

That same afternoon, with the sun hanging high in the sky and a warm climate since it was spring. Ren and Lucien was sitting across Kagaya in a cross-legged position. The bright yellow sunlight peeked through the open courtyard door, illuminating the inhabitants inside.

"You're bringing us to the village of the Swordsmiths who creates the Nichirin weapons?" Lucien, who was on the right of Ren, asked Kagaya first. "By what, the Kakushis?" The Kakushi girl that Lucien spent the night with, accidentally leaked some of her duties as a Kakushi, even the more confidential ones.

As they say, some pleasure loosens the mouth up, if you know what I mean. That is exactly why spies and agents use the seduction method to infiltrate and gather information from their targets.

Kagaya seemed a little surprised that Lucien knew, but didn't dare say question how he found out. Kagaya knew of Lucien's magics and capabilities, so maybe it was natural to be clairvoyant for Arcanists like him.

"Yes, that was what was originally planned, but if you and Ren-sama has another way, then we'll respectfully follow." Kagaya replied, the sunlight glinting off of his pearly white eyes.

Ren quickly turned his head to Lucien and stared at him like he had an idea. Lucien knew of his look and his plan from one single glance.

"NO! No! We are not teleporting there!" Lucien vehemently refused what Ren was thinking of.

"But we'll get there instantly! I mean, it's faster that way ri—" Ren replied simply by shrugging and stating his common sense-filled reason.

Lucien immediately cut Ren off. "—NO! No means no, okay?" Lucien shuddered when he remembered the moments he teleported with Ren and the sickly aftermaths that happened.

"Aww...Then what should we do?" Ren smiled and closed one eye as he looked at the glaring Lucien.

"The sky—.." Lucien pointed to the relatively clear blue sky with some scattered clouds here and there.

"—We're gonna fly there." He continued and ended his reply simply.

"I can fly, you want me to carry you?" Ren jokingly jabbed at him with a grin.

"Hell no, I wanna test my new flight spell I developed, I forgot that I had a cheat now." He ignored the teasing Ren and shook his head.

"Wow, I forgot about that too."

"Well, I only remembered it while reading my file." Lucien took the tea in the table in front of him and had a sip of the warm green tea.

"Welp, let's get to packing so we can go before the sun sets." Ren said as he stood up.

...

In an open space, just before the sea of towering green trees, there stood a duo, wearing thick Haoris and wear. One of the men had a bag made out of cloth and leather, filled to the brim with supplies, while other man carried none.

The man who was holding nothing was Ren, and the man with the bag was Lucien. They had just finished packing their necessities, or more like, Lucien finished packing his necessities for the journey.

"Wanna go first?" Ren suggested to the nervous Lucien who can't extricate himself due to his excitement on trying his new flying spell model out.

Lucien took a deep breath and nodded. He held out his hand and pointed his palm to himself. With a burst of Spiritual Power, neon blue circles first popped up, more precisely, four rings made out of Spiritual Power.

Then, runes wrote itself in the air one by one, starting from one circle and then spreading until it reached the outermost ring. As the last rune etched itself in the Arcane circle, the runes began moving and circling fast, like gears and bearings turning.

A blue aura began enveloping Lucien's body until it had covered him whole. Then came a few bouts of Spiritual Power lifting him gently from the ground until he was 9 meters in the air like a breezing wind carrying a leaf.

"Wait..!" Lucien started to get excited as he tried moving his body around the air freely. Once Lucien had confirmed his body's stability as well as the spell, he began to do cartwheels and barrel rolls in the air, contorting and twisting like he was in water.

"Yes! I did it!" Lucien shouted with sheer happiness that his flying spell had worked perfectly.

—Clap! Clap! Clap!

Ren clapped for his friend's achievement and brought out his 12 large wings. With one flap of his wings, he had already reached beside the position that Lucien was in.

"So how does it feel to fly?" Ren asked Lucien the question.

"It feels...amazing! Is this how birds feel?" Lucien replied with bright vigor and glowing eyes.

"Congrats! Now, we head to the Swordsmith village." Ren congratulated his friend while simultaneously reminding him of their goal.

Lucien thought of an idea and looked at Ren. "Let's race! No teleportation allowed though." As soon as the words left his mouth, Ren's mouth grew an evil smirk.

"Oh ho! You're challenging me huh?"

"I am, what are you gonna do about it?" Lucien replied with a similar grin.

Ren just looked at him and replied with an almost too happy tone. "I'm gonna wipe that smirk off your face." And they were on!

With one huge flap of 4 of his abyss-like wings, he took off while creating a sonic boom that rustled the trees and pushed back Lucien. Surprisingly, Lucien had managed to catch up to Ren's position in a few seconds.

Lucien smirked at Ren while they were flying through the air in breakneck speeds. "Oh ho!!" Ren only humphed and his grin grew.

Soon, all of Ren's wings flapped and his speed grew dramatically, producing loud sonic booms every flap.

"Gh!" Lucien only groaned as he fell behind Ren.

"Go faster magic boy!" Lucien heard Ren's voice resounding over the valley they were flying on.

Lucien tried to desperately increase his speed just to catch up to Ren.

...

It failed and now Ren was laughing in his face while in front of a village entrance.

"I thought you were gonna beat me?" The laughter of Ren continued. They didn't notice the masked men standing near the entrance.
