The Greatest Evil

"His name is Lucifer Morningstar—the second-born True God. Mother crafted him from the darkness of the empty universe. The greatest evil, that was his purpose. But he defied this prophetic fate and became the kindest of the six True Gods—even kinder than his twin brother, Venus Nirvana, who was born from the universe's light. Mother was at a loss for words. She'd created him for the sole purpose of balancing the universe's good and evil, yet here he was, the most distinguished good. Though elder brother was the first True God to create a realm, it was none other than Lucifer who proposed the idea. He wanted the honour of the first realm created to be his elder brothers, thus Ragnarök was born. Following this creation, the other realms were created: Nirvana, Aerlogard, Dwargo, Gigante, and finally, Netherworld. Lucifer marvelled at his siblings' creations because the realms they created were abundant in mana and life, something he could not create. He, the presider of all darkness in the universe, was unable to conjure the thing he loved most—life."

"Is that supposed to be your heroic tale?"

"Heroic tale? No, it's nothing as grand as that. It is, in fact, my past."

"Your past?"

"My origin story. The story of Saint Lucifer Morningstar—The Proud."

"The Proud. What a fitting title."

"Do you want to hear the rest of the story, Abbadon?"

"I've never heard this story before, so if you would indulge me."

His name is Saint Lucifer Morningstar—the second-born True God. ALL crafted him from the darkness of the empty universe. The greatest evil, that was his purpose. But he defied this prophetic fate and became the kindest of the six True Gods—even kinder than his twin brother, Saint Venus Nirvana, who was born from the universe's light. ALL was at a loss for words. She'd created him for the sole purpose of balancing the universe's good and evil, yet here he was, the most distinguished good. Though Saint Alvis Ragnarök was the first True God to create a realm, it was none other than Saint Lucifer who proposed the idea. He, the presider of all darkness in the universe, was unable to conjure the thing he loved most—life.

But life was not only something he could not conjure because it was life that rejected him. Life was repulsed at Saint Lucifer Morningstar. Humans were disgusted at his existence. Elves cursed his being. Giants, dragons, dwarves, and all living beings rejected him. Everyone did, except his lifeless creations. For thousands of years, he spent his days all alone among the hellfires of Netherworld—with nothing but his thoughts to keep him company. In that period of isolation, he came to realise why life rejected him. "It's mother's fault" he concluded. He was created to be the greatest evil. No matter how hard he fought, he would always be the greatest evil. And life cannot accept the greatest evil in its circle. "If life does not accept me, then I will not accept life." Saint Lucifer Morningstar thus awoke something inside of him. Seven emotions that he's never felt before. A deep resentment that cannot be quelled. A lust for life that cannot be satisfied. Envy towards humans, the pinnacle of life. A greedy hunger for power and control. A desire to sit on his throne as his pawns wreak havoc. A gluttonous appetite for the souls of life. And a conceited attitude that annoyed his siblings. Seven emotions too powerful to contain in one immortal body. Saint Lucifer split these seven emotions into living beings. The first of its kind—demons. These were the first living beings Saint Lucifer created. From then, he created more of his kind—creatures of darkness rejected by life. After the Ancient Magic War, Saint Lucifer's demons rampaged the streets of his mother's creation. In response to this, he was sentenced and locked for eternity in his realm, never to set eyes on life again.

"And that is the story of Lucifer—The Greatest Evil? What a bore fest."

"Did you not like it?"

"I don't like many things."

"That's a sad life."

"It's the life you, my creator, conjured."

"So, you're saying I'm the sad one here?"

"We are but creatures created in your image, are we not?"

"How right you are. Then, perhaps you are right. Maybe I am sad. Should I create an eighth sin from this emotion?"

"You can do as you please. But that decision should be put on halt. We've got company."

"Yes, it seems Satan has brought a daring guest."

"The artificial being—Haruki Ryu. I saw him when I took care of a pest in Leagard. Compared to that day, he is nearly unrecognisable."

"It's a given. He is the seventh True God."

"Seventh, you say. And may I ask if any of your siblings think of him as a True God?"

"They don't have to. He will prove his worth in this life. The time for war is upon us. The Order of the Fly will descend and none of the True Gods will interfere in the chaos they wreak."

"I was right. That story you told was boring. It was also untrue. How are you the Greatest Evil when you care for human life more than your siblings? More than ALL? Lucifer, you are their shadow protector."

"Yes, I am a shadow. And as long as I remain a shadow, I will need a bright light to lead the way."

"Haruki Ryu. Do you think he is up to the task?"

"He has to be. If not, Leagard and all seven realms will cease to exist."
