1.4. First Mission Complete... Starting Sec-

"Very"

Speaking with no filter, Oxyelle immediately admitted to wanting this result.

She wanted to openly express how happy she was that the bastard that nearly broke her arm would be punished.

She wasn't the type of person to shy away from expressing her thoughts.

"That idiot got what was coming to him. Just because I look horrible doesn't mean that I'm a beggar."

In a huff, Oxyelle stomped on the ground. It was frustrating how the man treated her. If it was before she was brought here she would've knocked him on the floor by now.

Maybe even give him a black eye.

Even if others were giving her the side eye because of her poor appearance. At least they didn't openly display their dislike.

Jesse was looking down at the girl. Her open display of annoyance was annoying. She had rarely seen a street urchin with as much energy as her.

Though she soon chuckled as she saw the girl pause with the grumbling of her stomach.

"You're Jesse, right?"

Turning to the brawn lady beside her with a tint of pink on her cheeks. Oxyelle lightly scratched her cheek.

"Hey, Jesse! What are you doing, we've got more orders!?"

The loud voice of a man erupted from inside the restaurant, giving the obvious answer to her question.

"You were hungry right?"

Not answering her. Jesse instead asked a question with a smile on her face.

"Yes."

With a simple nod, Oxyelle rubbed her stomach while the other hand gripped her coins.

"Well, you're welcome as long as you have money. Come on in."

Leading Oxyelle into the restaurant, Jesse brought her over to a table for two. Sat her down and went ahead into the kitchen.

Coming back out a moment later she handed Oxyelle a pamphlet.

"You can't read, right? Just pick whatever looks the most appetizing to you. I'll be back in a minute to take your money."

Opening the pamphlet she could see strange words that were accompanied by drawings that seemed to capture the essence of each dish.

"Ha. Are you going to try and rob me as well?" With a short laugh, she joked with the woman.

"Only if you want me to, dear." Returning a joke in turn, Jesse winked at the grinning Oxyelle.

With that, Jesse turned around. She talked and joked around with a few of the customers before returning to the kitchen.

Looking back into the pamphlet, she saw some drawings with rather questionable things. She had assumed she was in another world, no, she knew she was in another world.

Yet seeing a bowl of green soup and what appeared to be the large and ugly head of an Orc, was quite jarring. To say the least.

Looking over the menu, there seemed to be multiple monster-themed fishes. Like some type of large bird. A cow with two sets of horns. A strange reptile… and some demonic red thing…

Ignoring the last one, she found one of the few normal items and chose it. It was a large grilled fish, something like a tilapia. Topped with lemon seasoning and bell peppers. A heavenly combination.

Once Jesse returned and saw what Lulu chose, she nodded her head.

"That will be one silver, six coppers'."

"Alright–"

Wait. One silver and six coppers? Counting the amount she had on hand, Oxyelle nearly bit down on her tongue.

That was almost all her money! This was a complete and utter robbery!

Watching the girl's face shift from plain to a frown caused Jesse's eyes to curve upward as she laughed.

"Since an employee of ours gave you a difficult time. I'll give you a discount, one silver piece."

Just hearing the word discount erased the frown from her face. It was still expensive, but at least she wasn't going broke.

"Alright. Just take it before I change my mind."

Hesitating for a moment, her hands shook as she forked over one of her coins.

Grabbing it out of her hands, Jesse flipped the coin in the air before stuffing it into one of the few pouches going across her waist.

"We appreciate your patronage!"

Chuckling at the look of regret on Oxyelle's face, Jesse walked off, back into the kitchen leaving the grumbling child alone.

Now that she was waiting for her food to be finished Oxyelle began to observe the restaurant which was bustling with people.

There were groups of muscular people and people dressed in armor chugging down large pints of beer and alcohol.

There were even a few people clothed in priest garb; though they didn't raise a hand to any of those beverages.

Groups were partying, celebrating, or merely just meeting up all around her. It was a picturesque scenery that reminded her of all the places filled with adventurers that she drew, saw, and read.

Even though all the people around her were loud and rambunctious, they remained relatively respectful to each other – it gave off a warm atmosphere.

Oxyelle swung her feet back and forth with her head resting on her hand as she observed the women that were in the restaurant.

They were all quite similar to Jesse, brawn and quite muscular while a few of them were quite heavily scarred. Some held weapons on their backs or laid out in front of them and it was honestly a refreshing sight for her.

Even though this world she was now placed in was medieval in a sense there seemed to be at least quite a bit of freedom for women… well at least for those of common birth.

Having not met any noble women she didn't know what their situations were like, but they most likely have less freedom.

That's when Oxyelle began to think. What was she to do? She has now been whisked away and put into an unfathomable situation.

She was now a peasant child with only a single silver coin to her name – it wasn't exactly the best situation to be transmigrated into.

Also, taking into account all the stories she's read and watched she automatically assumed that there would be no way to return home.

She would need to return… home and try to come up with a game plan and a goal, without one she would struggle to survive.

Even though she knew she had nowhere else to go, just the mere thought of calling the old building she woke up in a home, made her head hurt.

But she knew there was nothing that could be done at the moment, she just needed shelter – no matter how bad it was.

As she was thinking, Oxyelle failed to notice a woman suited in a very minuscule amount of armor taking a seat across from her.

"Hey, kid."

The woman's smooth voice broke her out of her thoughts as she looked at the woman with her clear oak gaze.

The woman had quite a bit of muscle on her and her raven black hair was pulled back in a high ponytail.

Her bastard sword was going along her back while there was a curious look on her face. She started Oxyelle down in momentary silence.

"Yes?"

Oxyelle spoke in a questioning tone. She wanted to be careful when talking to this sharp woman.

She didn't know who she was, nor what she wanted, but she looked like she could break Oxyelle's back any time of the day – so it was best to watch her words.

"What's your name? Where are you from?"

"It's Oxyelle. I'm Oxyelle and putting it plainly, I'm from the slums a bit outside the city; why?"

The woman, not breaking her gaze away from her eyes, asked a couple of questions, displaying her curiosity.

Not finding an issue with the questions, Oxyelle didn't bother to hesitate to answer her questions; wanting to know the reason for them as well.

"Well… you're pretty interesting. Say what have-"

Before she could continue speaking, Oxyelle cut her off.

"Wait. Before you continue, you should at least introduce yourself."

Hearing what she said, the woman paused for a moment, as if she were thinking before giving her a nod.

"Very well. I go by Ash, me and my group are resting here for the moment."

"Well then! Nice to meet you, Ash."

"Mm."

Simply nodding once more to Oxyelle's greeting, Ash tapped her fingers on the table.

"As I was saying, have you ever trained before, fought beasts, monsters, etcetera?"

"No? I don't even know what those things are, well, I mean I've never met any. Why do you ask?"

She couldn't understand why she'd ask such a question when she had just arrived in this world. She had no time to encounter any beasts or monsters of sorts.

"Are you sure?! Because you-"

Ash who grew slightly louder had her words cut off by a large hand covering her mouth.

"That's enough Ash. Leave the poor girl alone, don't bother her with your shenanigans."

A large man with wheat brown hair and a beard of stubble stood behind Ash with his hand over her mouth.

Ouch – The man yelped in pain and quickly removed his hand away from her face. His hand had a set of teeth marks on it as he shook his hand.

"What do you mean Colt!? You know that my sense of smell is always, most of the time, sometimes right!"

"Hah! I'm sorry for her bothering you, kid. Ya see she has a strange sense of smell, detects all kinds of strange things."

Laughing at Ash's words, Colt stepped over and barely lowered his voice as he spoke to Oxyelle.

"And let me tell ya, it's usually not accurate."

As soon as he finished speaking, Colt was smacked upside the head by Ash as she stood from her seat with red cheeks.

"Don't go telling her that, you manchild!"

Lashing out at him, she crossed her arms as she snorted.

"Manchild!? If anyone could be called a manchild that'd be you!"

"Me?! Hah! In your dreams you…"

Rubbing the back of his head, Colt faced Ash and fired the insult back.

After each word that would come out of Ash and Colt's mouths, their argument would go deeper and louder.

Oxyelle watched on in amazement at how quickly the lady's calm and collected mask was removed.

The speed in which the two descended into an argument reminded her of the banter and many arguments she had gotten into with her friends.

She clenched the cloth covering her chest as she felt something clutching at her heart.

"They're quite loud, eh?"

Conversing with her, Jesse came over to the table with a plate of mouthwatering food.

"Who are they?"

Oxyelle stared at the plate while salivating, quickly wiping the drool off her face.

"They're the Dragul Mercenaries. You know what mercenaries are, right?"

"Yes."

"Well, they're quite the popular ones too. They're currently stationing themselves here for some reason – Captain's not here though."

"Mmhm."

Practically ignoring her words Oxyelle grabbed the fork and began to dive into the plate of food placed before.

After she finished eating, she would be in good condition to think more of this world that she found herself in.
