Everything is Okay!

"Thanks girl. You literally saved my day!"

"No problem. Just call me anytime if something pops up again."

"Sure! See ya!"

"Mhm. Bye!" Ayana bid goodbye to Betty and immediately vanished into thin air with her beloved car.

It was early in the morning when she suddenly recieved a call from Betty for help. After having some conversations on phone, she discovered that her friend would be busy on Christmas with her colleagues.

Definitely she was quite upset at first, but she couldn't let her sadness ruin her friend's joy. Absolutely not!

It didn't take her seconds to put her thoughts together and immediately went for Betty's rescue who was struggling with her luggage outside Elmont City Mall. Upon reaching she instantly picked up Betty's half of the luggage to avoid the wastage of time in apologies and rather scolded Betty for being so slow.

Seeing Ayana's cheer up behaviour, Betty took a breath of relief as she feared she might've broken her friends heart, but to her surprise, though obvious, Ayana's heart was made of steel. Such petty things weren't enough to break her friend's heart, or so she believed because on the other hand, everytime Ayana's eyes laid on a decoration pieces or gingerbread packets, a stinging pain slightly poked her heart periodically.

She never once imagined she will had to do this, but for Betty's sake she activated her fake-self mode on. She really never wanted to pretend to be happy when she was not, especially in front of her best friend whom she even considered like her sister. But as the fate would have it, maybe this year's Christmas wasn't in her luck to celebrated.

'Well it ain't like this is my first time celebrating it alone. I still remember those days in my highschool years when I was all alone...Yeah, it really isn't that big of a deal. So what if my family, my friends, my colleagues and my boyfriend isn't here. I'll make sure to have a grand celebration next year, till then I will satisfy myself with a few more shots of booze in my home.'

But much to her dismay, these repeated chanting of 'Everything Is Okay' made it even worse. Despite her constant resistance those past memories of sharing the same cake bite with Jake, then having some red wine along with a wholehearted meal arranged so beautifully for a late candle light dinner. Their awkward small talks turned into hilarious jokes with some hidden flirtings in it.

All those sweet past memories which she once wished to never forget until she dies was more like a lifelong curse now for her. And the worst part of it all was that she was the only one who remembered it all. She never dared to share her feelings because if she does a thousand of questions would block her path.

'What if I am just bragging my problems? There are so many people who have it worse than mine afterall... it's just a simple breakup... I shouldn't waste other people's time.'

Despite having a strong and fierce personality, these questions always occupied her soft spot.

The painful flashbacks and the tiring questionnaire with her alter ego just wouldn't end until a loud thud of door closing made her flinch, thus hitting her head with the trunk, brought her back to the present.

"Hey, is everything okay?" A warm voice somewhat worried from the faint noise at the back called Ayana out. Ayana gulped her moan as she replied and rubbed the back of her head with an awkward smile.

"Uh yes! I mean no. I think I probably squished a brownie packet in this bag. " Ayana managed to make an excuse in time as her eyes happened to fall upon a small brownie packet visible through translucent plastic bag.

She looked at Betty who was wearing her usual black gothic crop top with her long legs flaunting the ripped jeans at top of the car desk.

"That's okay, It's the cheapest one here anyway so we aren't in a big loss. Ah right! I did told you my colleague's address right? " Much to Ayana's surprise it seemed Betty was already quite busy with her work. It was a good thing, but at the same time slightly stinging to her heart.

To distract herself before getting depressed again, she immediately closed the trunk and clenched the keys while marching towards the driving seat.

She accidentally closed the door a bit too hard again but it left her completely astonished as she found herself being the only one aware of this action. Betty was already lost in her phone, so much that she didn't even twitched once upon hearing the huge thud twice.

'Just what is so important in there?' Ayana muttered to herself and subconsciously leaned towards her seat when suddenly Betty called her out aloud despite being so close as she still thought Ayana was standing outside.

"Oh! When did you enter? Anyway, that's not important right now. You see this red dot here on the map? That's the place where she lives. Do you think we'll make it by...4:00PM?" Betty slightly raised her head to hear ayana's response but in return she only recieved a tired sigh with a frown on her face.

She didn't knew why but Ayana looked more worn-out than before. 'Were the bags too heavy?' she wondered.

After a brief silence, Ayana soon realised how much she was getting so worked up over such a small matter because of her stupid brain. She immediately grabbed Betty's phone from her hands and took a quick peek at the destination. Unfortunately, the destination wasn't that far away from here.

With a bitter smile she wore, the act of 'everything is okay' began once again and they set off for their small journey to start.

They both made attempts to make small talks on their way but unfortunately it didn't last long on either sides. In the end, to avoid the awkwardness Betty played her favourite music playlist of dark and rock songs. They weren't that bad, but some lyrics punched Ayana 's heart so much that she immediately stopped the music as soon as she dropped Betty to her location.

She cried a lot after returning home...
