"So, I have no choice but to get transmigrated into that game then?"
"That's right, but I think I already told you that it wasn't a game in the first place. It was just a simulation of the world you are going to."
Currently sitting in front of the black-haired man dressed in a fancy suit behind his big desk, I couldn't help but feel a slight headache emerge. I had already accepted that the words this god spoke were true, as evident by the fact that he had shown me my own dead body.
I had died in my living room from a brain aneurism, most likely triggered by yet another one of my marathon sittings of gaming. The game I had played was also still imprinted in my mind; "Destiny of a Hero". Pretty much a classic RPG game where you would create a character and follow the hero in order to save the world. This was also the world that God now wanted me to transmigrate into.
He had already explained most of the things that I needed to know before I got my new life. The world was incredibly similar to the game that I had played, with the exception of hidden items and manuals. Pretty much meaning that there would be no way for me to get a super cheat in order to climb to the top of the apex.
There were some things going for me though. I was going to get to go through a character creation where I would choose my inherent stats and a main manual; In simpler words, I would get to choose my class.
In the game, the player could find manuals and choose if they wanted to use them as their main manual or their extra manual. This was pretty much just their main class and their subclass. Unfortunately, the concept of levels didn't exist in the world I was going to. Instead, they had another progression system that was more in line with cultivation.
"So, are you ready to create your character? As I said earlier, you cannot change your appearance as it is bound to your soul."
Interrupting my thoughts, the god urged me on, wanting me to conclude our meeting as soon as possible. As my gaze settled on the faceless man, I opened my mouth and began to settle my destiny, "Fine. I'm ready."
As he raised his right arm, a big blue semi-transparent screen appeared in front of me. It was the same as when I had played the game, with the exception that I didn't get to choose my physical appearance.
It didn't take long for me to choose my stats, completely replicating the build that I had enjoyed the most when playing the game. It was based on almost completely agility and intelligence which would complement the manual that I would get to choose after this.
"I'm done."
"Hoo? Already? Well, as long as you are happy with your choice I am not one to say otherwise. Now, what manual do you want your body to assimilate?"
As I had already chosen my stats because of the manual I had in mind I instantly answered the god, "I want the Trickster manual."
The small office went silent. This was the first time that the faceless head in front of me reacted, a reaction which I assumed to be was one of surprise. "...are you sure?"
It didn't take a genius to understand why he was hesitant to let me choose the manual I wanted. The problem was the fact that it was an unranked manual. Most manuals were graded 1-7 stars, like the hero's "Sword of Light" which was a 7-star manual, but the Trickster wasn't graded at all. It pretty much meant that one couldn't rely on it to get strong without extreme efforts.
"I'm sure."
The god gave up after seeing the resolution in my eyes, now knowing that no matter what he said I wouldn't change my mind. "Haaa... Okay, fine. Just know that there is no going back from this."
There wasn't a single fragment of me that hesitated. I knew what I wanted, and, most importantly, I knew why I wanted it.
"Okay then. Before I let you out of here, I'm going to change your body according to your chosen stats and the manual you choose. You might want to grit your teeth, young one."
*Snap!*
Standing up, he snapped his fingers which triggered something inside of my body. "Arrgh!" It felt as if my whole body started to eat itself with organs getting replaced and bones switching places.
'FUCK! PLEASE MAKE IT STOP!'
The pain escalated more and more, almost making death feel like a very valid alternative right now. And then, all of a sudden, it just stopped. When I opened my eyes, I noticed that I was lying on the white floor with sweat pouring out of all my pores.
"Now get up. We still have one more thing to do before you get going."
Turning my head, I saw the suited man at my side, impatiently waiting for me to get up. 'You fucker...'
Scared to antagonize my dear 'friend' I kept my thoughts to myself and forced myself to my feet. "So what now? Didn't I receive everything I would get already?"
As I had already managed to get onto my feet, he turned back at me and explained, "You have. But there are still some more things that I have to explain to you and your comrade before you get to go."
"My comrade?"
"You will know what I mean in a second."
*Snap!*
With another snap of his fingers, reality started to warp around us. After just a couple of seconds, we were now standing in the middle of a huge stadium. In front of us, another person appeared.
"Sorry miss. This guy here took a bit longer to finish than I thought."
'Wasn't he surprised by the fact that I was so fast with my choices just a couple of seconds ago?!'
Without minding my stupid thoughts, their conversation continued. "Oh, it's fine. It's not like I had anything planned anyway. Ha! You know, because I'm dead?"
Looking at the person I couldn't help but be surprised. In front of us stood a drop-dead gorgeous tall woman with pink hair reaching her shoulders. Her body was slim but still athletic, with curves in all the right places. Complemented with an innocent face, she was the dream of a lot of men. Even more surprisingly, she seemed to be as tall as the god at my side.
Both of them seemed to be almost two heads taller than me, meaning that I pretty much just reached up to their chest level.
'Wait...'
I was sure that when I arrived at the office of the god, he wasn't this tall...
"Umm, God?"
"Yes?"
"Did I shrink?"
Even without a face, I could sense that he started to smirk. "Why yes, young one. Your stats are a reflection of your soul and your body is a reflection of your soul. Thus there was no helping it. Don't worry though, you are not that short. It's just that the miss and I are pretty tall in here."
Suddenly, a bright voice cut through our conversation, "Wait! What do you mean, we are tall? How tall are we?!" The woman in front of me seemed to be pretty exasperated because of the sudden information that she had just attained. "You are just about 195 cm tall miss. Which should be expected as you spent most of your status points into strength."
*Thud!*
The lady dropped to her knees, her hands sinking into the ground with a thud. "No way... How am I going to get Arthur to love me like this...? I'm a freak..."
Arthur was the hero in the game, and it appeared that this lady had already made up her mind to try her best and charm him. Unfortunately, she was sure that her large stature wasn't going to make it all too easy, impossible in fact.
"So, how tall am I then?", Not minding the crazy lady, I inquired about my own height. Turning his head, the god I felt that his smirk had once again emerged, "Why you are just about 160 cm tall young one."
*Thud!*
My knees also gave up, now making me take the same position as the crazy lady in front of me, my hands touching the rubbery ground around us. "No way... My height... That was the one thing I had going for me in my past life..."
The God who kept us company couldn't help but laugh, "Hohohoho! See, maybe you shouldn't have just made your choices arbitrarily before inquiring about their meaning."
Both of us just stared daggers into the insensitive jerk that didn't seem to understand our pain.
"Now, stop moping around. Aren't you guys interested in seeing the power that you attained? We don't have much time after all."
With both of us having forcefully recuperated, we stood up and went along with his suggestion.
