The Walk (1)

"No need, I am just going on a walk."

Freya looks like she wants to say something but then just nods. She has a guilty look on her face so I try to console her by saying, "This has nothing to do with you, I just want some fresh air after all this training so I am going on a walk."

She just rolls her eyes at me and says, "Alright."

"Then see you later." I say to her while going outside.

"Come back soon~"is her reply in a bit of a playful voice. Oh well whatever. I am pretty sure that was a lousy excuse and she knew it but as long as it worked. Anyway let's start this soon-to-be bloody walk.

After asking some attendants where the instructors live while explaining that I have some important doubts related to training, I got the location of their residence.

As soon as I reached that place I encountered the blond bast*rd. Oh well I suppose this night will get a bit interesting after all. Wonder what kind of scheme he has in mind for me, and I know he does because he paid attention to my team many times. Maybe he suspects us or one of us to be an Irregular? Well only time will tell.

"It's a beautiful night, isn't it? And how can I help you Mr Amar?" He starts talking to me with a smile and asks, "Do you have any complaints or doubts of some sort?"

"Good evening Test Supervisor. I indeed have some things to discuss with Instructor Perospero. I hope you can guide me." I gently greet him and bow a bit to show respect.

"Instructor Perospero? Isn't he the instructor of Light Bearers? Speaking of which, didn't your teammate pass his Special Position Test? I suppose congratulations are in order then. Anyway, I will lead you to him if that's what you want." He says with a grin and then turns around. "Follow me."

I follow him silently for a bit and then we enter an office like room with eastern style coffee table or tea table. "Where are we?" I ask him.

"Oh this is my office. I will summon instructor Perospero here. It's not appropriate for a student to go to a teacher's residence at night after all. So let's wait here and meet him." He says with a sh*t eating grin. Obviously there is a hidden provocation there but I just sit there calmly.

"Well if that's the case, so be it." I say while he sits besides the coffee table (let's call it that) and invites me to sit in front of him. He said that it will take half an hour for him to come. So I sit there while I wait.

He then summons Perospero by calling through Pocket. And after that he starts preparing his instant coffee blend. "What type of drink would you like? Tea or Coffee?" He asks me.

"Coffee" I answer succinctly.

"Oh are you a fellow coffee lover by any chance?" He asks me with a twinkle in his eyes.

"Yes, I really like coffee. It's one of my favorite beverage." I answer him honestly.

"Oh what is your favorite coffee blend?" He asks with interest.

"Well I don't like it to be too bitter, so Latte and Cappuccino." I answer honestly again. These are true thoughts.

"Oh." He makes an odd expression. And then says, " So why don't you try my special coffee blend?"

After that he pushes a cup filled with hot water and a small packet of instant coffee.

"?" I look at him with a questioning gaze.

"Go on its my special blend." Special blend my foot! It's just a ready-made pack of instant coffee. Alright I have had enough of this charade. This is getting too stupid.

So I straighten my back and look towards Hansung Yu and say, "Let's drop this act and get to the point. What do you want with me?" I ask him with a serious expression.

"What would I want with a Regular like you?" He says with feigned confusion but his eyes look amused. Holy sh*t how did I read that? Am I getting better at social interactions? Anyway time to get serious.

"Oh? Then why do you seem so interested in me and my team or at least someone in my team?" I ask him.

"What gave you that idea?" He says with amusement painted on his face as well. "Oh well, the jig is up I suppose but what are you going to do about it? Anyway I have a deal for you because your team seems powerful and I suspect that at least you are an Irregular and some of your other team members might be Irregulars as well."

"So? Even if we are the so-called Irregulars, what does it have to do with you?" I ask him while acting in ignorance and subtly confirming his guess.

"Well we are supposed to stop the Irregulars from climbing the Tower, so I would have to stop you if that's the case." He says in a perfunctory manner and then smiles. "But if you make a deal with me I will help you conceal your identity or identities as Irregulars. And you will remain safe and grow more powerful."

"And then what? Work for some secret organization that you are affiliated to or something? Now why would I do that?" I ask him with a smirk.

"You will do it because you are weak, if I don't do this how will you safely climb the Tower." He says while smiling and tries to pressure with his Shinsu control.

"Is that so?" I say with a smile and then I dominate all the Shinsu in the room. "Say that again please, Test Supervisor. It seems my ears are hearing things."

And then I laugh while seeing the surprised and horrified look on the bast*rd's face.
