I returned to my (chat group provided) house. And easily entered inside, though I do feel that some sort of boundary field has been set up here. Though I don't know what kind since I have never studied magecraft.
"Scathach I am home."
There are some footsteps and then Scathach comes into view wearing modern clothing looking good as always.
"Welcome back so what did you find out from your reconnaissance?" She first greets me and then immediately asks the important question.
I take out the sweets I bought and give them to her. And then say, "Well we can rest easy for now, most of the Servants haven't yet been summoned and it will be a while till the Grail War will start so we can rest easy for now.
"There is no point in hunting the Servants early after all."
She just nods at this and then looks at the sweets in her hand.
"What are these for?" She asks me while emphasizing the packaging of the sweets in her hand.
"Eating?" I say with a look on my face that screams 'Isn't that obvious?'
"Nevermind." She says with a weird look on her face. Oh well. The look is not exactly weird but I don't know how else to describe it.
"Scathach can you teach me some Magecraft and Runes?" I ask her.
"Why? You don't really need it." She looks at me with a questioning look with taiyaki in her mouth. Makes me have some inappropriate thoughts at inappropriate timing. No idea why these thoughts are here but the point is they are. Calm down Amar, and focus on the important stuff.
"I don't need Magecraft or Runes but having them as an option is better than not having them. Maybe they might come to some use someday. Since we are here in this world, for the time being, I thought why not?" I tell her my reasoning. She just nods at me like she is agreeing with such reasons for it.
But then she says, "But for Magecraft, you need Magic Circuits. You don't have them so you can't do it even if you want to."
"I have Gamer's Body remember? I am pretty sure I can awaken Magic Circuits if you help me. After all, Gamer's Body does give infinite potential to my body."
"Alright, we can try. Nothing wrong with trying after all." Scathach nods at that.
Sometime after that talk. We are in the current situation, with me sitting on the empty floor of the basement of the house where there is a lot of mana according to Scathach. I wouldn't know anything about mana since I have never used it, Arcanum, after all, is a fundamentally different energy than mana.
Scathach on the other hand is behind me with her hand on my back. More specifically on my spine.
"Get ready I will now awaken your Magic Circuits if there are any. It will be painful."
After she says that I brace myself for any pain I might get from this. And that was a great idea since man was it painful?
The sensation was like someone just ripped out my spinal cord and dipped it in acid. Of course, I am talking about corrosive acids.
After that, it felt like the spine was put back in place with a molten iron rod in it. This then resulted in this molten iron to start circulating to other parts of the body.
All of this happens in the span of a minute. But to me, it felt longer than that.
[E-ranked Magic Circuits have been awakened]
Of course, they are. I can feel the warm energy circulating much more comfortably in my body. I wonder if this is od.
"I am a bit surprised it worked. Hmm, this will get interesting." She says with a predatorial smile that makes me nervous for some reason. Well, I am the one who asked for this, so no use crying now.
"So? Where should we start your lessons from? Basics?"
"Yeah, that would be great," I say with a strained voice.
"I know that you are not in pain so there is no need for you to act that way." She says with a strict face and I just let out a wry smile at this. Oh well, it was worth a try.
"All right let's start Scathach."
"Follow me. This is not the right place for such teachings." She tells me so hence I follow her to a spare where there is a table and chairs.
After sitting down on the chair, she takes out a notebook and a pen from god knows where and starts teaching.
"Let's start with the Elements of Magecraft. There are Five Great Elements that shape the world....."
I will not bore you guys with the details since you can't use Magecraft anyway. Hence it's useless for you to read the details.
She basically taught me about the Thaumaturgical System that the modern magi follow since according to her that would be much easier for me to learn in this age rather than the Magecraft from the Age of the Gods. According to her, this was due to the lack of Mystery in the world.
She told me that it was because of this that ancient magi even developed this system after the Age of Man began. This makes a lot of sense, Magecraft from Age of the Gods should still be possible but it will be much harder and almost impossible to accomplish in the current age by modern magi.
So I suppose all those Fate fanfics where MCs learn Magecraft from the Age of the Gods in the modern age are debunked. Honestly, why else would modern magi make a new type of Magecraft if they could still perform Magecraft from Age of the Gods?
I also learned about Thaumaturgical Attributes and Scathach told me that I have the potential to possess all of them because of my Gamer's Body. Heh heh, Gamer's Body is really a cheat. Compared to that Gamer's Mind has been quite useless.
And hence the night passed and a new day began. Of course, my studies of Magecraft were just beginning.
