Chapter 6.1

When Kevin leaped off the rooftop, he found himself unexpectedly confronted by a black-eared wolf that had also taken a daring leap.

Kevin's momentum carried him forward, and he stumbled several steps before coming to a halt just in time.

Despite his attempts to brake, his speed caused him to stumble several steps before coming to a halt just in time.

As he lifted his head, he found himself face-to-face with the wolf, nearly nose-to-nose.

Kevin: "..."

The wolf's eyes were locked on Kevin's, and its teeth were bared in a snarl. Kevin felt his heart pounding in his chest, and he knew that he was in danger.

But he also knew that he could not back down. He had to face this wolf, or he would surely die.

Kevin remained silent, frozen in shock alongside the wolf, neither moving nor reacting for several moments.

He held his breath, overwhelmed with the excitement of the adrenaline rush that coursed through his veins. He felt as though he could stay there forever, suspended in that moment of exhilaration.

Suddenly, the black-eared wolf's blood-red eyes appeared, and its razor-sharp steel claws glinted coldly as they were aimed menacingly at Kevin.

Kevin quickly raised his head and bent his knees, quickly dropping to the ground and bowing his waist in an attempt to evade the wolf's attack.

He narrowly avoided being struck, but before he could rise to his feet, the black-eared wolf made another lunge, its claws slashing through the air.

"Step aside!" it snarled.

As a deafening bang echoed in Kevin's ears, he squinted his eyes and his vision suddenly blurred.

The enraged black-eared wolf howled fiercely and fell heavily against the stone wall. Its massive and robust body caused the wall's corner to crumble, and the debris tumbled down.

Oswald wiped his mouth, stood up from the ground, and returned to Kevin while taunting him, "Will the esteemed Mr. Fassbinder use his dagger to climb over the wall next time?"

"Are you still feeling confident?" Kevin shoved him, and the pair attempted to escape through the adjacent alley, away from the wolf's line of sight.

Following its fall onto the wall, the black-eared wolf's throat emitted an unexpected low snort. Its head then raised to release a sharp, piercing howl that echoed through the air like a battle cry.

In response to this unforeseen development, Kevin reacted quickly, grasping Oswald who was preparing to flee down the alley, and cautioning him sternly, "Stay right where you are!"

In retrospect, the commotion and clamor within the casino previously had obscured the awareness of the source of these "snorts".

However, at this point, Kevin was able to fully identify the characteristics of the recurrent guttural growling and howling, as they were undeniably familiar to him.

This is the distinct method of information exchange utilized by the giant beast race when on the battlefield. It functions similarly to a code, and only their beasts can fully comprehend it.

Kevin was only aware that the resounding howl of the black-eared wolf indicated that they were trapped in the alleyway.

As expected, a black shadow abruptly appeared before Kevin, and the blind male lion withdrew its front paw. It landed with a loud crash from the low wall, obstructing their sole escape route.

"Fuck! " Oswald exclaimed in frustration. He lacked the grace and self-awareness expected of an emperor, resorting to swearing and unconsciously mimicking Kevin's posture.

The lion appeared disoriented, unable to see clearly, and displaying a confused expression. Kevin even questioned its intelligence. It only reacted slightly when it heard the black-eared wolf's purring and howling, almost instinctively following those signals.

Kevin and Oswald remained vigilant, ensuring their safety.

The black-eared wolf's eyes were bloodshot, behaving in such a manic manner that it managed to drag along the half-foolish lion. These two towering creatures slowly approached Kevin and Oswald.

Death was drawing near...
