Chapter 24.3

Oswald inquired, "What is it that you wish to discuss with me?" Despite having an inkling of what Dan might ask of him, Oswald posed the question.

Dan's carefree expression vanished, and he addressed Oswald gravely, "I request a favor from you."

Oswald scrutinized his acquaintance momentarily. He steered his horse by pulling on the reins to change direction and spoke loudly, "Let us return to the palace and converse there. You seek my assistance, and I have a minor plea to make of you. Would you be interested in a trade?"

As Oswald's team alongside the dark, colossal behemoth raid (sell) raid (cute) team trudged back to the Hanging Palace, the elite unit positioned atop the Whitehead Hill became embroiled in a conflict between human and divine forces. The quandary arose - who would leap first and who would jump last?

Kevin turned his neck inquisitively and produced a crisp sound from his neck bone. He walked leisurely to the entrance of the cavern while adjusting his limbs.

He then advised, "Mind your posture when nearing the cave entrance. If you unintentionally plunge into the vortex, keep calm and move with the current; you shall arrive safely at the designated area."

Ben lamented, "How are you so familiar with this area? Did you skip over it? Don't tell me lies, I'm scared."

Most individuals present were wondering as Ben did - how did Kevin have such close knowledge of the site?

Knowing how to scale mountains or find waterfalls is one thing, but to be familiar with the appearance of a location beyond the waterfall is peculiar.

Kevin waved his hand nonchalantly and uttered, "It's almost similar, at least that's what I observed the last time I visited here. Remember to remain silent after reaching the vortex, it can be challenging should we stir anything within it. I am certain none of us desire to be besieged by the entity that leaped off the hill before us."

The crowd paled at his words, touching their necks apprehensively.

Kevin continued casually, "However, ordinarily, such a scenario doesn't arise. So let us not waste time and get this over with. I shall take the first leap, and the rest can follow."

The manner in which Kevin spoke about the jump was akin to taking a dip in hot springs rather than hurling oneself off a cliff. Everyone ruminated for some time, and as Kevin jumped off, no dependable individual remained on the summit.

Nick tugged Kevin's arm subconsciously, "What do you suggest... shall we jump first?"

Kevin stepped back casually, quirked his eyebrows and responded, "Sure, be my guest."

Nick's expression changed to...

The group engaged in a heated debate, indicating that the waterfall was not jumpable by humans.

Five minutes elapsed, and Kevin lost his patience; he turned his back and rolled his eyes, "Let's go!" He jumped off the cliff, dashing towards the vortex of the immense wave.

As a young land creature, Ben detested heights. With a pale complexion, he felt that warriors should display fearlessness while circling the hole like a fiery ant. Watching Kevin's figure diminish, Ben was about to take his turn when -- Oops! He overlooked a raised stone and stumbled hard. Before he could take a deep breath, he tumbled like a ball and plummeted straight to the bottom of the hole.

The thousand-meter-tall mountain resounded with his screams, "Oh, my dear father, aahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh——"

A gust of wind roared in their ears during the descent, hurting everyone's cheeks and almost deforming them.

Kevin shut his eyes and calculated the distance in his mind, sighing, tsk - who wants to return to such a mortifying location.

The surging water collided with a bang, submerging his head and shoulders. He held his breath, slackened his limbs, and let the vortex carry him at a breakneck speed.

The high-speed spinning lasted a while until he ran out of oxygen, and it gradually frayed to a halt.

He glided along the water and drifted effortlessly to a level ground. As inertia pushed him forward, he finally stopped.

"Ahem——" Kevin cleared his throat and coughed up the remaining water, taking a deep breath.

One more revolution, and he would have puked.

He uttered a curse within, wiping the water from his face. He was about to open his eyes and stand up when he felt something icier than water brushing against his neck.

What is this?!

Startled, he opened his eyes rapidly. Due to his eyelashes being damp, he could only half-open them.

Blurred by the water vapor, he saw a gleaming blade lying motionless in front of his eyes.
