Chapter 27.2

Almost everyone's eyes were written: "It's over, the impact may be so hard that the whole head may be lost."

Unexpectedly, Dan rubbed the red mark on his forehead and then walked into the cave as if nothing had happened, yelling loudly enough for everyone outside to hear, "Medical officer, I want to vomit."

Kevin turned his head and looked at Oswald for a moment. Without further ado, the two strode into the cave one after the other.

"Why are you all staring at me? You're in a panic..." As soon as Dan entered the door, he was forced to sit on the ground by the medical officer and was watched by a whole room of people. Standing on either side of him, bent over and staring at his forehead.

His forehead was painted jet-black and glossy. The original skin color could not be seen at all, and naturally, it was impossible to see whether there was any sand petrification.

After thinking about it, Kevin wanted to touch it with his hands to see if the skin had hardened, but before he touched Dan's forehead, Oswald blocked him.

Oswald slapped his hand away, "tsk," and said, "What are you messing with? You know better than the medical officer?"

While speaking, the medical officer had already touched Dan's forehead.

After a while, the medical officer was a little surprised and said, "There is really no sand petrification."

Dan patted his head in bewilderment. "What is sand?"

"Not at all?" Oswald asked.

The medical officer shook his head. "To be precise, there is no change at all. I can feel that this piece of skin is slightly different from the rest of the face. It is a little harder, a bit like a thin layer of callus, but it is still far from sand petrification."

"Dan, how many insect bites do you have in your family?" Kevin asked.

Dan nodded. "A lot! The sea is gone! We are easy to attract bugs, and almost everyone is chased and bitten every day. Otherwise, why should I paint it like this, so it looks better?!"

The medical officer asked in a formal tone, "Have you ever encountered a situation where the skin is as hard as a rock?"

Dan paused and pondered before answering, "Yes, I remember one instance where an elderly man near my residence fell into a valley while fetching water and rolled down multiple times. When I checked on him, his skin had hardened to the point where he could not move anymore."

One of the officers asked, "Is his skin similar to this?" while pointing to a side of their arm.

Dan examined the skin, pinching it and confirming its texture, before replying, "Yes, it is that hard. As for the color of the skin, we painted it to be like this."

Dan pressed his forehead again and said, "I understand what you mean by sand petrification. It seems that there is only one person in our tribe who has experienced this. We thought it was because he was old and fell, which caused him to become disabled. However, there are a few others whose skin has hardened slightly, like my forehead. The hardening occurs near the joints, which makes it a bit scratchy when moving, but it does not have a significant impact."

Oswald frowned and asked, "Then you told Shaw that it is not convenient for your current leader to come out?"

Dan replied, "He has been bitten by the most bugs. His face is swollen, and his knees are too swollen to move. Of course, it is not easy for him to come out."

Oswald was silent for a moment.

The group was momentarily taken aback before refocusing on the issue at hand. The medical officer asked if they could investigate the cause of the sand petrification, with the concern that it could cause disastrous consequences if left unchecked.

At this moment, the few brain cells of the giant orcs suddenly became active. Dan suddenly said, "Would you like to see why we have not been petrified like you?"

The medical officer nodded repeatedly. "There are too many people with sandstones here, and the area of sandstones will spread a little every day. If we do not make progress, the consequences will be fatal."
