Chapter 35.1

A loud boom echoed through the main hall as something seemingly uncontrollable crashed into the outer wall and likely swept the huge pillar, causing the temple to tremble.

The noise from outside was chaotic with people yelling and screaming, interspersed with intermittent sentences.

"How the hell do we control this thing?!"

"These undead are out of control!"

"Can you even tell where we're going?!"

"Follow quickly! His Majesty has already entered!"

Kevin frowned. It sounded like they had used some rather unreliable methods to open the gate.

The next second, a gust of deathly black wind filled with the stench of death and decay blasted open the huge stone gate, enveloping Kevin in its foul embrace. He quickly grabbed the stem of his stone cup to saving himself from being thrown out.

The temple was soon filled with howling ghosts, ferocious beasts, and screaming birds of prey making Kevin's head spin.

It was as if a whole farm had been brought in!

The two stone doors slammed into the walls on either side, sending a shower of gravel and ancient dust into the air.

Kevin was blinded by the dust and had to blink several times to clear his vision. As he did so, he saw a black shadow with wings spread wide.

Just then, Oswald's order came from above: "Get out of the way! Don't let them defile the gods!"

According to the legends on the mainland, the main hall of every temple contains not only totem symbols, but also huge stone statues of the gods.

They are hollow on the inside, and contain the remains of the gods who have slept for thousands of years. This symbolizes that even after death, the gods will always stand tall and proud.

Although unconfirmed, this statement has been passed down from generation to generation, and it is accepted as truth.

"Have all the creatures entered? Drive them in and close the door!"

Before Kevin could open his eyes, he felt another gust of wind blowing over his head, followed by the howling black mist that was being driven out of the door. The force was so great that it almost knocked Kevin into the air again.

Everything happened in an instant, but it seemed to be proceeding according to the emperor's command. The howling black mist was about to crash out of the door. Someone had already taken a deep breath and called out in advance: "Finally—"

However, as soon as these two words were spoken, the black mist suddenly changed direction, as if the things in the temple were more attractive to them than the living people. There was a chaotic scream of the black mist, and it rushed towards the huge statue of Phae.

Oswald and the others could not react in time, and when they turned around and chased after them, they only saw the scene of the statue falling down.

"Boom—"

The sound of a boulder colliding with the ground was followed by a series of noisy sounds as gravel rolled to the ground. The statue of Phae, which had stood alone in the temple for an unknown number of years, was shattered into pieces.

The shattered stone statue was too terrifying to examine.

Everyone present was stunned. They were so frightened that they closed their eyes and trembled. They had just desecrated the Tomb of God Phae! They had not only dug up the god's grave, but they had also opened the god's coffin and released... something.

Even the giant beastman who had turned into a bird had closed his eyes. It was clear how terrified they all were.

There were a series of muffled knocking sounds as people knocked against the door, the wall, and the ground. When they finally opened their eyes, they realized that the black mist that had been mixed with thousands of undead souls had somehow disappeared.

"Where are the undead?" Nick asked in a stammering voice, not daring to look near the shattered stone statue.

"It seems that I didn't hear them after the statue fell down just now," someone replied in a low voice.

The statue fell...

Why did it feel like they had been relieved?

Everyone lowered their heads in silence and took a deep breath.

"What are you doing lying down? Get up!" Oswald's impatient voice rang out again.

He paused for a moment before adding in a low voice, "The inside of the statue is empty. There are no remains of the legendary God of Light."

Everyone was taken aback by these words. They quickly got up and looked at the large piece of rubble, but they didn't see anything that looked like a dead body.

This made them feel much better.

Nick and the others patted their chests and breathed a sigh of relief.

Kevin stood by the stone cup, looking at the ruined temple that looked like it had been through a hurricane. He had a numb expression on his face. "I wonder how many generations have passed, but these little grandchildren are a bit lawless, aren't they?"

Of course, the word "grandchildren" was purely a curse, and it had no meaning of intimacy.

The fact that the statue had been destroyed had a profound impact on Oswald, but when he discovered that Phae's body was not there, the impact of another incident clearly prevailed: Kevin Fassbender was standing next to the stone goblet of the temple, posing.
