Chapter 56.2

As a result, Oswald raised his noble and handsome wolf head, tilted it slightly to the right, and assumed a haughty air.

A sidelong glance from the corner of his eye revealed his dissatisfaction with Kevin's perfunctory answer.

"Not now," Kevin said, pushing Sirius away. "I'm trying to think."

It was clear that Kevin's nonchalant response had displeased the Emperor, who had boldly made a series of reliable associations and guesses.

Kevin felt as though there was a large, bold line of text printed on Oswald's furry face: "Shouldn't you praise me? Is this basic courtesy? Do you take imperial power seriously?!"

Sirius whined and sat down, but his eyes were still fixed on Kevin.

Kevin: "..."

Ever since some people tore through the window paper, Oswald has adopted a posture of "not even wanting to lose face."

In the past, he had tried his best to appear calm, stable, deep, and introverted in order to save face. However, for some reason, he now seems to be veering off in a strange direction.

If one had to define it, it would be that he cannot completely lower his face, but he also wants to show off his intelligence. As a result, he is stuck somewhere between the proud Sirius and the peacock with its tail open.

Kevin stared at Oswald's face for a moment, his eyes narrowing in a mixture of amusement and disbelief. Then, he raised his hand and hit Sirius on the forehead with a quick, resounding slap.

He rubbed Sirius' fur twice and praised him in a sinister tone that was clearly meant to mock him: "How can you be so smart? Your intelligence is almost as high as that of a ten-year-old human child! Promise me, let's play!"

Oswald: "..."

Oswald snorted through his nasal cavity, his heavy eyes tracking Kevin's every move. Kevin, oblivious to Oswald's scrutiny, stood up and walked towards the corner of the wall.

From Oswald's vantage point, he could see a section of Kevin's fair neck beneath his dark hair. As Kevin turned his head, the muscles and bones of his neck were revealed, their outlines sharp and defined.

Oswald found himself admiring Kevin's thin but well-proportioned frame.

Oswald squinted his eyes and looked at it for a while, his nostrils flaring slightly. He felt an almost irresistible urge to rush forward and grab the well-defined muscle and bone, and rub it hard with the tip of his teeth.

He suppressed this impulse with difficulty, licking the tip of his teeth. Then, as if suddenly remembering something, he said: "That's right——"

"Huh?" Kevin squatted down in the corner, groping for something there, and replied without looking back.

Oswald's teeth itched even more when he heard Kevin's languid voice. He cleared his throat and said seriously, "The priest said that Phae has a phoenix pattern on the side of his neck. Such an obvious mark should not be difficult to find."

After all, according to the priest's words, the appearance of Phae is related to the Golden Lion Kingdom's life and death.

Kevin paused his fingers when he heard the words, turned his head and said angrily, "Have you seen this mentioned in The Divine History?"

"That's not true...you mean the pattern didn't follow him all the time?" Oswald said.

"It's just that others can't see it," Kevin said.

Oswald thought for a moment and said, "The phoenix is the representative totem of Phae. Could it have something to do with his soul?

"It's like a mark that doesn't show up under normal circumstances, but only at specific times? For example, when his soul returns to the world?"

Kevin squatted halfway in the corner, thinking to himself: "Another guess is eight or nine." He had to admit that Oswald was a very imaginative young man.

Kevin was perfectly clear about the totem. It represented the godhead of the body. How could it be possible to wear it on his neck every day?

Under normal circumstances, as long as the state of his body was stable, the totem would not be revealed.

However, if His Royal Highness the God of Light were to suddenly have a peculiarity, sleepwalk, or lose his soul, the totem might become visible.

The likelihood of such an event occurring is so low that it is akin to Melo running up to Kevin and offering him the hundred or so godheads he possessed.

In other words, it is extremely unlikely that the totem would ever be revealed.

The emperor would be better off dreaming of finding the person he sought, for it was a more likely outcome than finding them through this method.

The speaker muttered this to himself as his hands continued to work. He had noticed a crack in the wall behind a soldier who was leaning against it, and he had come over to investigate.

After poking around in the crack for a few moments, he found what he was looking for.

The crack was only a finger-width wide, and when it broke, it almost shattered on Kevin's hand. He emptied the black powder into his palm, played with it, and took a closer sniff.

"What did you hear?" Oswald approached with a frown.

Kevin stared at the tiny amount of powder for a moment before saying, "I know where this came from."

Despite the powder no longer appearing the same, Kevin could still detect its scent through the lingering aroma - the scent of the long vine rose.

Legend had it that the Old Rose Castle was renowned for its apricot-colored roses. Roses adorned every corner, creating a vibrant and beautiful scene reminiscent of a dreamy country.

However, upon reflection, Kevin realized that perhaps it wasn't a rose after all, but rather an apricot-colored vine rose that closely resembled a rose.

Kevin was more familiar with the apricot-colored vine rose than the apricot-colored rose, as it was the flower used by Thenis to create Melo.

"Where?" Oswald inquired.

Kevin twirled the powder and casually replied, "Suta Plain."

Finally, he understood why Melo had insisted on his return to this divine realm.

From his knowledge of Melo, whether in childhood or during Melo's increasingly eccentric behavior, there existed a peculiar hobby - self-commemoration.

Kevin debated whether this was an advantage or a disadvantage, but ultimately concluded that it stemmed from Melo's desire to separate himself from Kevin's shadow.

Melo felt the need to emphasize his own existence with a unique mark on everything he created, to designate specific corners as his memorials, and to classify special places as sacred.

In the past, Thenis and the others merely regarded this behavior as that of a puppy enthusiastically scratching the ground. Among the older gods, it was seen as stubborn yet amusing, or even endearingly paranoid, rather than something wrong.

From a certain perspective, these wandering gods were quite magnanimous.

Considering Melo's personality, the Suta Plain was his birthplace, an incomparable special place. It was not merely special but the most sacred place to him.

Melo enjoyed reminding others to remember things connected to him.

By allowing Kevin to regain his divinity in the former Suta Plain, Melo likely hoped to create the illusion of "I have given you life," and to constantly remind Kevin that he had returned to his position as a god in the birthplace of the God Empress - a benevolent act on his part.

This perfectly aligned with Melo's temperament.

Lost in thought while twirling the powder, Kevin was suddenly startled by a low snort from the behemoth Sirius. It then crouched down, alert, pressing against the ground as if listening intently to something.
