Chapter 59.2

However, as Kevin wiped his face, the old doctor hesitated and said, "But that medicine..."

Kevin turned to him, curious. "What about it?"

The old doctor scratched his face in embarrassment and explained, "Um... I accidentally mixed that potion for a neighbor. In the next two days, Your Excellency might need to find a companion for your mount."

Kevin: "???"

Oswald: "..."

The old doctor took a look at the giant beast and realized that finding a suitable partner for such a magnificent winged snow wolf would be quite difficult.

He quickly added, "It's alright if you don't find one, but it might be more troublesome."

Kevin's expression stiffened.

His Majesty's snow-white wolf face turned green in an instant, as if it had been dipped in a cauldron of poison.

Kevin, who had witnessed the entire incident, felt a wave of embarrassment wash over him, even though he was not the one who had swallowed the medicine.

He could not understand why he felt so embarrassed, after all, he had not done anything wrong.

The three of them stood there for a moment, each lost in their own thoughts. Oswald's face was expressionless, but Kevin could tell that he was angry.

Kevin smiled dryly at the old doctor, then turned to Sirius and patted its neck in a gesture of comfort. Oswald, however, could not help but feel that there was a hint of schadenfreude in this action, and it only served to make him feel worse.

Kevin then turned his attention to the dark-skinned officer who had been pointed out to him by the baby-faced soldiers.

He spoke to the officer in a solemn voice, "I have been informed that His Majesty has ordered all sub-units to lead the people from all towns to the underground tunnels to avoid the army of sand ghosts. How did you come to be here? I also heard that someone asked you to go on a pilgrimage?"

The dark-skinned officer was taken aback by Kevin's knowledge of the situation, and he looked at him with a mixture of surprise and guilt. "We were too careless," he said.

"There is no need to blame yourself," Kevin said. "It was beyond your control. However, I would like to ask you if you can recall anything else that happened on your journey."

The officer nodded. "Although I did not realize it at the time, I can vaguely remember it now," he said. "For example, when we passed through several refugee towns, new people joined our group."

Did you meet any other teams on your journey?" Kevin asked. "Are the other people who were in the secret passage safe?"

The officer shook his head. "I am not sure, Your Excellency," he said.

"When we came out, the sand ghost was gone, and I do not know where it went. However, I was still somewhat conscious at the time. If I remember correctly, we even encountered people wearing Huangcheng armor near Sanglin Avenue. These people were wearing the regular armor of the Ranger Army, and they should have been staying in the underground tunnel near St. Antis."

Kevin's expression froze. "Huangcheng armor?" he repeated.

Kevin wasted no more words, and simply instructed the officer to take the soldiers and the people to Silent Valley immediately, as he had already told Mi Ao.

He explained the situation in a concise and to-the-point manner, then strode back to Oswald, patted his neck, and swung himself onto his back.

He whispered in Oswald's ear, "The situation is worse than I thought. The people who were originally arranged to hide in the secret passage are likely to be lured out, so we have to leave quickly."

Oswald, who was black-faced, immediately forgot about the concoction and galloped away from the crowd without a word, flapping his wings at the end of the forest road.

The strong wind from the white wings blew down the surrounding vegetation, and everyone on the ground turned their heads to avoid the force. They watched in blank expressions as the vigorous beast carrying Kevin flew into the sky and disappeared.

Avoiding outsiders, Oswald spoke as they roamed briskly. "Don't you find it strange? It takes at least a day to travel from Tagwa to the Boiling Swamp. We've only been gone from Rose Old Castle for a few hours. How could a group of people, young and old, walk so fast?"

"So," Kevin said heavily as he leaned on Oswald's back, "they must have heard that voice earlier than us."

Oswald frowned. If these people hiding in the secret passage had heard the sound earlier than them, it meant that the source of the sound was probably in the territory of the Golden Lion Kingdom in the first place!

If they had heard it, then it was likely that people in other towns in the Golden Lion Country had heard it as well, and St. Antis was no exception.

The scale of this was simply frightening.

"How many people will be drawn out?" Oswald asked, his voice tinged with coldness. "Will no one be spared?"

"Yes," Kevin replied, his tone light but his eyes grave. "Children. Did you not see just now? The children who were held in their arms had the clearest eyes."

"Why?"

"Because they have never experienced suffering, have no worries to burden them, and have never prayed for anything. They have no need for gods."

Oswald's eyes narrowed. "So you mean that those who have never experienced suffering are immune to the call of the gods?"

Oswald flew with Kevin for a while before landing to confirm the new direction of the sound. Kevin pressed his hands to the ground, while Oswald listened directly with his ears.

The voice that was originally vague and indistinct gradually became clearer. They were getting closer and closer.

However, when they flew over the dense Andorha Forest, Oswald's wings twitched suddenly, and Kevin's body fell suddenly. Oswald managed to stabilize his figure just in time, and flew a little higher with Kevin.

"What's wrong?" Kevin paated his neck and asked, his face pale.

Kevin's lips twitched as he recalled the old doctor's actions, and he let out a dry laugh. "The medicinal juice is so effective?"

Oswald's face darkened. "That's not it!"
