Chapter 71.3

However, if one were to look closely, they would see that countless pale green vines were swimming silently under the ice, gathering at Kevin's feet as if awaiting Melo's command at any moment.

Kevin pointed around the ice cave, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "You don't know why you stay here all the time? Is it because this place is so beautiful?

"Please! If it weren't for the fact that there are reborn gods here, who fell in your hands, I wouldn't even want to listen to your explanation about those old people in the movie. I don't care.

"If you don't know the true meaning of mirror island, why did you choose to recover here? With your physical aptitude, it is impossible to fully bear it. With so many godheads, you should have died a long time ago. You are just lingering here!"

As he spoke, Kevin's fingers flashed, and a golden light erupted from his fingertips. The vines that had just emerged from the ice were instantly severed, writhing in pain as they were cut off. Kevin paid them no heed, his eyes fixed on Melo's face.

He continued to glare at Melo, his eyes full of contempt. "You are a coward," he said.

Kevin flicked the green juice from the tip of his knife and said coldly, "Sneak attack? You are not important enough to attract my full attention!"

If Melo did not know that Mirror Island meant growth and new life, and that it could provide him with a steady stream of power to help him cling to life and survive to this day, how could he have huddled here for thousands of years?

And if he knew the true meaning of mirror island, how could he still be afraid?

Maybe at the beginning, after he first saw Mirror Island, he was truly scared and worried. But that was all in the past.

After he learned the true meaning of Mirror Island, he could no longer use 'fear and worry' as an excuse for everything he did. It is all just selfishness and greed.

Kevin's suspicions grew stronger. "You gave up a few godheads just to reduce the burden on yourself? I think Thenis and the others would be interested to know when you stopped telling the truth. I suspect that you made up a lot of deceptive nonsense in order to launch a sneak attack, but unfortunately, I am here."

Kevin's suspicions were growing clearer by the minute. He suspected that Melo had given up a few godheads simply to reduce the burden on himself.

However, it was also possible that Melo had not expected Kevin and Oswald to use the godhead he had released so effectively.

"Why do you say that, Your Excellency?" Melo asked, his voice laced with irony. "Are you so pleased with the godhead I released that you must fancy me?"

Kevin's eyes narrowed. "I am not in the mood for your games," he said.

Melo shrugged. "Fine," he said. "I will stop acting." He straightened his shoulders and pulled out the golden arrow that was stuck in his body. The wound closed and healed within seconds, leaving only a trickle of blood.

Oswald stepped forward, blocking Melo's path with his own body. "My oh my, why would you want to flirt with him?" he asked, his voice dripping with disbelief. "You are so shameless that I am amazed!"

Melo was speechless. He had not expected Oswald to be so protective of him. "His Majesty the Emperor, I did not expect that you would be so courageous."

Kevin gave Melo a blank look, but he did not have the time to beat him up for the time being. Seizing the rare moment when Melo was amazed, he discreetly signaled to Oswald with a few flicks of his hand.

Oswald quickly grasped Kevin's meaning. In the next instant, a golden light shot up from the ground, and the God of Light soared into the sky. His wings spread wide, and he seemed to be made of pure light. He soared through the air, his eyes blazing with power.

He flipped his wrists, and the flame of the phoenix burned from his left arm, crashing to the ground in the center of the temple with a deafening roar.

His right hand slammed down on the ground, to and a ray of light poured down, enveloping Melo in a blinding light. The flames spread out in all directions, forming a wall of fire that prevented Melo from getting even half a step closer.

Kevin's golden sword cleaved through the ice in the center of the temple, and the entire temple shook in response. The sound of a door opening rang out, and in an instant, a deep hole opened up in the ground that had been thick with ice.

Oswald raised his hand in perfect understanding, and a huge heat wave whizzed past instantly. It was like a thin blanket, slipping under the kneeling crowd and lifting them up. The dense crowd then poured into the deep hole.

This was exactly what Kevin had said: the exit of Mirror Island.

Melo, who had been stunned for a moment, finally regained his senses. The crowd had just been poured into the deep hole, but before they could start falling, they were bound tightly by countless thick vines. The vines wrapped around their bodies like snakes, constricting them so tightly that they could not move.

Melo let out a long, piercing cry, and the entire Mirror Island shook as if it were about to collapse. In the wind and snow, a high mountain rose up from the ground like a vengeful god, its jagged peaks reaching for the sky.

The mountain struck the entrance of the cave with a deafening roar, sealing all those inside within its icy embrace.

The sky suddenly darkened, and the sea erupted in a frenzy of towering waves. The will of the post-God had unleashed its chaos upon the world, and the land was soon submerged in great swathes by the roaring wave wall.

Countless vines burst forth from the ground, binding those who were about to fall to their doom.

The vines' immense power propped up those who had lost their will, were exhausted, or were dying, and forced them to kneel, face the south coast, and lie down on the ground.

It was as if the entire world was praying for the return of God.
