Weighing on my feelings, I’m not sure whether I’m mad at her because she left me before or because it seems like what she did before doesn’t really matter to her.
She can still smile at me and that smile alone almost melted my heart. It’s unfair. I feel aggrieved.
I walked straight to their table when Kobe called me before glancing at Jada. He immediately bowed his head when he saw her glaring at me.
I slowly sat on the seat where Kristoff was earlier. Trying my best not to look at the beautiful woman next to me, I turned my attention to our friends.
“This is cheating! You guys are having a reunion when you knew I’m out of the country!” calling them off and scowling at them.
“Pfft, enough with the drama,” it was Kobe. “I told you we’re going out. That’s probably why you rushed coming back because you missed us too!”
I laughed at him. That’s true. It’s been a while since I last saw everyone together. Scratching the back of my head, I sighed. What happened to me and Jada really affected the group.
“Fine! But I miss your special guest more!” mustering the courage to say something as bold as that, I turned to Jada who’s still busy with her phone.
She chuckled before facing me, “I miss you more!” she exclaimed. Our faces were so close, our lips almost touched. But she didn’t even flinch, like it was nothing to her.
‘What is going on? Has she really moved? Has she really forgotten about me?’
I quickly withdrew and turned to look at the table, pretending to find a glass I could use. I might not be able to stop myself and kiss her right there and then.
Steve laughed, “What now dude? You’re speechless? I’m warning you, you’re looking at the new and improved Jada!” he stated, making me speechless even more.
“Sshhh! Don’t scare Lyken, you guys! He might think that I’m a bad girl now that’s why you’re talking like that,” she smirked, placing a hand at the back of my neck and running it down to my waist.
I felt a strong tingling sensation because of what she did. All I can do is grin and empty the glass in front of me. I’m not even sure whose glass was that.
In no less than minutes, Ada invited Bambi and Jada to the dancefloor again. Honey joined them and I was left with the rest of the guys. I then moved between Kobe and Steve.
I noticed that they are all just looking at me while I was watching the people on the dancefloor. Truth be told, I was only watching Jada.
“You’re shocked finally meeting Jada 2.0 right?” Robin chimed, trying to catch my attention.
"Bro, let me ask you,” this time it’s Kobe. “Are you sure nothing happened that night that could be the reason for your breakup?” he pried. I shook my head, brows knitted.
"If you could only talk to her when she’s sober, you'll see how much she's changed. She's definitely changed a lot. It’s as if something triggered for her to be like that,” my best friend added.
I suddenly thought of something. Until now, I haven’t told them, even Kobe, what I did that night.
However, I believe that Jada doesn’t know anything about that. If she does, she would have told Honey and Honey would have told Kobe. I would have known then.
Besides, according to Honey, Jada’s car was there when she came home from the party. That means Jada didn’t leave at all. Besides, how can she when she’s sick?
“To be honest, I don’t know how to answer that too,” I glanced at him. The words coming from my mouth were almost whispered, I don’t even know if they heard it.
After a few more minutes, the girls and the pinks rejoined us. "It’s already 11 PM. Are we just gonna stay here?” Jada asked as soon as she sat down.
“Are we going to rinse it down? Where should we go?” Robin asked in return.
"KTV!" the pinks exclaimed.
So everyone decided to look for a KTV bar nearby. When we got in, everyone comfortably sat down.
I sit near the door, end of the couch, like how I used to. Jada was about to go past me when Robin pulled her down, making her sit between us.
She doesn’t react at all but my eyes widened after what Robin did. He just winked at me in return, teasing.
Honey and the pinks started looking at the songbook, while I was just quietly watching them. I’m curious as to what is Jada 2.0 they’re all talking about.
However, it’s almost an hour but I’m still not noticing anything unusual about her. except for what she did to me earlier.
I was surprised though when she poured beer on her glass and drink it, bottoms up. Robin even clapped at her, as if praising her for what she did.
Jada even raised both her arms as if she won a competition. I glared at Robin, wanting to tell him there’s nothing great with what Jada did, but he only stuck his tongue out on me.
‘Is this what they’re talking about?’
I saw Jada drink before. She can handle her alcohol well, but now, she’s like a glutton. Like she’s craving for hit all her life.
I pressed on my temple, suppressing the headache that was about to come. I looked at Kobe who was also looking at me and he shook his head gently.
Just like before, they asked her to sing again and she gave in without second thoughts. They didn’t have to beg, unlike before.
It was Honey who requested the song, she said it’s for Kobe. She also said that she wants Kobe to know how she felt when they broke up so that he won’t do it again.
"I missed your love, since you've been gone. I find it hard to go on"
As soon as she starts singing, goosebumps crept all over me. ‘Shit! I really missed this woman!’ I said to myself.
If only I could hug her right at this very moment, I would. The song is about to reach its chorus so I sit properly to have a better look at her.
"I'm missing you ~ and it's making me blue yeah. I'm missing you ~ but what can I do. "I'm thousand miles awayyyyy from you"
She continued singing while smiling. She even pointed at herself then me when she sang the chorus.
I saw everyone’s reaction. Especially Bambi and Ada who looked like they were having a seizure while screaming.
I felt romantically excited as well, I can even feel my cheeks burning. Honey and Kobe are both looking at me, smiling while whispering something at each other.
Jada’s well aware of what’s going on around her, I know that. But why does it seem like she’s not even bothered about it? ‘What’s this bullshit?’
She started singing another this. It’s by Alanis Morissette this time, one of her favorite artists. I can still remember that.
I am not that familiar with this particular song so I just ignored it. She was singing peacefully, sitting next to me.
She wasn’t doing anything unusual at first, until she turned to me, cupped my face with one hand, and forced me to look at her. She then continued singing the next line of the song.
"Are you thinking of me when you fuck her?"
Her eyes looked like they were actually asking something. My mouth fell open but she just smiled sweetly at me and everyone saw that.
They all suddenly fell quiet, even Kobe and Honey were shocked. No one was able to react until the song ended. Even me. Especially me. I felt like I froze in my seat.
After that, she just asked who was singing next then passed the mic to Ada before leaning on Robin’s shoulder. Robin seemed to be asking her something as she pointed at her throat.
She’s probably telling him that it’s already hurting after singing for a while. After that, she stood upright as Ada starts singing. But it wasn’t her or the song that caught my attention.
"You’re really good at holding the mic, Ada. I like that!” she squealed.
Bambi laughed at what she said, “But you’re the expert now!” the pink exclaimed.
“Of course! I can do it better!” she answered while smugly pointing at herself. She then acted like she was doing something with her mouth. As if she’s doing something ridiculous.
‘What the fuck?!’
I wasn’t able to stop myself. I stood up rashly and went straight to the restroom. I felt someone followed me but I didn’t bother looking back to see who it was.
When I got inside the restroom, Kobe stepped in followed by Robin and Steve. I leaned on the sink, facing them. Robin and Kobe were peeing, while Steve washes his face.
"What the fuck happened to her?" I blurted out.
I can’t hold back the question because I’m so surprised at what Jada’s been doing. She doesn’t look like the Jada I used to love so much.
Well, who was I kidding? It’s still her. It’s just that some weird entity has gotten to her, that’s why she’s acting like that.
"Now that you've seen it. Tell us what could've triggered that. We all know that the Jada we've met in college up until before the two of you broke up is far from the Jada in that KTV room right now. Spill it man or we don't know how we can help you" it was Kobe, trying to look straight to my face while finishing his business.
I froze. I stared at the floor for a few seconds before letting out a sigh. I’m trying to weigh whether I should tell them or not.
"That woman I met at the bar. I brought her home after that night's party," I blurted out. ‘There I said it!’
“You’re an assho--,” Kobe blurted out, but he wasn’t able to continue as Steve stopped him.
I was surprised at his reaction. This is the first time he called me that. I'm used to seeing him do call our teammates that when playing but this is the first time that he said it directly to me.
His best friend.
"Hold it, dude, let him finish,” Steve tried to get between us, as Kobe pulled me by the collar. When he calmed down, Steve faced me again, “Then?"
I let out a frustrated sigh. I’ve no other choice but to tell them everything that happened back then.
I know they’ll get mad at me. They love Jada. But Kobe’s right. If I don’t tell them anything then no one can help me out.
