Chapter 35

• Jada •

A few minutes after, I heard someone knocking. I paid no attention to them regardless of how many times they tried calling until they left on their own.

I looked around the room and started gathering my things. When I’m done, I took my phone out and booked my ticket for California where my parents are.

I’ll go there in the meantime, or better yet, I’ll stay there for good. The farther I am from Lyken, the better.

I looked at my watch, it was only fifteen past midnight. I decided to sleep while waiting for a chance to leave.

My back just touched the bed when I heard someone knocking again. This time it’s way louder than the first ones.

"Jada, please open the door. Let’s talk,” it was Lyken.

Based on his voice and the way he talks, he’s drunk. But just like what I did to Honey earlier, I chose to ignore him. I just covered my head with a pillow to not hear him.
