Chapter Ten: A new day, a new beginning

"Mom, are you sick?" I asked the woman lying on the bed, immobilized from the waist down and in pain.

She looked at me with those dull eyes and a faint smile curved her marred lips. "It's an occupational hazard, honey. You don't have to worry about me," she sighed deeply and closed her eyes, "Tell me Kesey, did you do your reading lesson?"

I widened my eyes and rested a finger on my lips, reflecting. "But it's boring that book, and then I've read it so many times that King Arthur has become rather inconclusive." I complained, getting a light laugh from mom in return.

"Oh, Kesey, why do you think King Arthur is inconclusive? He was just a poor boy until one fine day he became the strongest and most able man the citizens of Camelot could wish for." I reflected on this. "I am convinced that one day you will become just like King Arthur: a little queen that everyone will love and respect."
