Chapter Twenty Six: I was so close to you that I was cold near others

To West: "Military headquarters base; Kesey's room."

The first rays of the sun caressed my face, grazing my eyelids and inducing them to flutter open. I opened them automatically, slowly like rosebuds, moaning in disapproval and turning away from the other side of the bed, encircling the slender torso of Enea, who blissfully, still slept. I sank my nose into his hair, intoxicated by its sweet honey scent, the disheveled locks tickling my nostrils. He wrinkled the tip of his nose annoyed and sleep, and I clutching his back against my chest, hearing his mangled moans as if to tell me to leave him alone. Eight months in my belly and the result was that my son could not bear to be touched in his sleep, a bit like yours truly, but it was hard not to cuddle him when he looked like an undivided little creature.

"Mom, leave me alone..." he muttered in a slurred voice, turning away from me with his eyes closed and his lips twisted in an adorable grimace.
