Such an Expensive Hospital!

The hospital bill was now to be paid, so Cara was asked how she would like to pay the bill; staring at the bill Cara's heart leapt out of her throat.

[Oh my gosh, what is this? The bill is too high. This hospital is so expensive. Even my 3-4 months accumulated salary won't be enough to pay this bill! What do I do now? Why did they have to bring me to this hospital only? It is so expensive!!]

She stared at secretary Matthew nervously.

"I apologise Mr --"

"Matthew Marks," informed Matthew.

"I apologise wholeheartedly Mr Matthew but the bill is too high for me to pay..." she said nervously biting her lower lip.

[ Ah, she's cute ] thought Matthew to himself, getting distracted by her adorable face. [ Oh no, what am I thinking? She's a victim of those evil men from yesterday. Poor girl ]

"Miss Cara, is the bill amount too high for you to pay? Then how are you planning to pay for it?" asked Matthew in a professional tone.

"I -- I have some savings but I don't think I can pay for the bill, the amount is too high for me Mr Matthew. Isn't there any other way through which I could pay for it?" Cara asked nervously, she knew she was treading on a difficult and fragile line, after all, how was she to pay such a huge amount without taking a debt from someone.

"Well, let me think about it. What do you think you could do, Miss Cara to pay this huge amount even if our company pays for it? How do you plan to pay it back? Will it be in instalments?" Matthew spoke as a professional trader. He was right down to business.

The more he questioned Cara the more nervous she felt. After all, it was truly a huge amount, how would she pay for it? Even if she pays in instalments, how will she pay for her rent and daily necessities?

Matthew's phone started buzzing and ringing inside his pocket. He quickly took his phone out, "just a second" he excused himself before picking up his call.

"Oh sure..." Cara mumbled to herself. She was inaudible. She already knew her voice was too tiny to be even heard.

Whoever Matthew seemed to speak with, the expression on his face told he was speaking to a superior. His face was very serious. He wasn't exactly audible and to speak he went closer to the room's window which was situated near the seat he was just sitting on. He had sprung up immediately when the call came in.

It was a call from Sebastian who was providing Matthew with a list of orders.

Cara played with her fingers as she waited for Matthew. She was contemplating what she should do to pay off the debt. She couldn't just spend all her savings out since she still needed them for her daily necessities. She should definitely opt to pay in instalments, but then again she had to calculate how much she should pay per instalment.

How much could she afford? Maybe she should join a new job with a higher salary check but job hunting wasn't so easy. Plus it would require time for her to find a suitable job that would yield to her salary needs/requirements.

Just as she was busy contemplating, Matthew was done with his phone call and he immediately went back to sit down across from Cara, ready to talk business again. Cara was indeed very beautiful, Matthew noticed how the locks of her hair were falling across her face. A few stray strands were tucked gently behind her ears.

[ No wonder those criminals were interested in her. She was indeed pretty like some celebrity. She could've entered the entertainment industry if she wanted to. Maybe we could recruit her to our entertainment industry? ] The expression on Matthew's face was so serious that he was resting his head upon his knuckles while his fingers were crossed and his eyes lost in deep thought.

Cara stared at him awkwardly waiting for him to say something but Matthew was deep lost in his thoughts. It was only after a short while that Matthew realised that he was too immersed in his own thoughts and noticed Cara was waiting for him.

Cara avoided eye contact with him, Matthew found this cute. He couldn't;t help but have a small laugh within himself.

"Sorry for making you wait, Miss Cara. Would you like to join our company? What are your qualifications?" The confused expression on Cara's face gave away how confused she was. She was clueless as to what was with this new suggestion.

"Miss Cara, please consider joining our company, your salary would be taken to pay the instalments of the debt our company owes you. Alongside you will be provided with an apartment by our company for you to stay in," stated Matthew looking straight into Cara's house. He was pretty serious.

He meant whatever he was saying, the sincerity on his face showed the seriousness with which he spoke.

"Do I really need to join your company in order to pay for the debt that I owe your company? I am not sure if this is a good idea. I obviously, can't pay the hospital bill but I am very grateful to you and your company people to save my life yesterday. I can't imagine what could've happened if you guys hadn't stepped in," she said with a sense of gratitude showing on her face. A slight smile lifted the corner of her lips. She was grateful.

Matthew sighed. "It was our duty or more like a responsibility as a citizen of this country to help out the needy ones. Your situation required immediate action or else things could've ended even worse for you. So no issues, Miss Cara. We did what we had to do," Matthew smiled at her to reassure her.

Cara was taken aback by Matthew's words and her eyes started to water. She couldn't imagine where she would've ended up if Matthew and his team hadn't stepped in to save her life.
