Matthew is a Good Man

Matthew quickly calculated and estimated the amount that would be required to pay through 3 instalments but he wanted to confirm with Cara how much time she required to pay back the amount.

"Miss Cara," called Matthew, "How much time do you need to pay the debt? How many months exactly?" He asked taking a glance at her before looking back at his phone.

"Uhh, I need at least 6 to 8 months to pay, is that gonna be okay?" asked Cara looking at her phone and checking her bank balance.

"Ma'am, the more time you take the more interest you will be charged. I hope you're aware of that" Matthew's words made Cara's heart drop. TIt was a big blow she felt inside. She was crying internally.

"I-I understand. Are you still going to charge interest from a poor person like me?" Cara tried to play smart and made puppy eyes at Matthew.

"Miss-- it's not a local market where you can bargain," said Matthew sternly. A bit irritated. He was totally in his professional mode currently.

That made Cara feel more worried and stressed about her present situation. She was thinking of ways to get out of it.

"Can I work for your company instead? And pay my debt with my salary instead? Is that possible?" Cara asked after some thought.

"Are you sure you want to do that? Besides what are your qualifications? Which job are you going to choose?" asked Sebastian opening his eyes. His deep, dominant and commanding voice suddenly penetrated through the already tense environment in the room.

His sharp eyes scrutinised Cara. [ Although she's pretty, who knows if she's just a pretty face and another no brain woman? ] the thought made him tch internally. He was slightly annoyed. [ Was she trying to wiggle her way out of paying through that pretty face of hers? It's unforgivable ]

Sebastian's stare was even darker than usual. It had already alerted Matthew of his boss's dark mood. He knew that it would be hard to diffuse the atmosphere of the room now. [ This girl is in serious trouble. She better be ready to face the boss ] Matthew sighed internally and was worried.

"Yes I'm aware of the situation I'm in and I know there's no way out. I'll do whatever I can to pay the debt. I don't like wriggling my way out of a situation easily. I am a responsible person whether I look like it or not," Cara could read minds (not really). She was very good at understanding when the person in front of her was underestimating her.

Cara continued, "I work professionally as an interior designer. I work for Ferns & Thorn's company currently," Cara stated, she was totally in her professional mode right now. As if she was already answering interview questions for her next company.

This helped diffuse the mood a lot. Sebastian thought she was just a money launderer with that pretty face of hers so he was slightly impressed although he didn't want to admit it. [ But she still needs to prove herself at least. Just talking like that is not gonna pass her up as someone responsible. So we'll see about that. ]

"If your company needs an interior designer, I'm ready to work for your company, sir. I'll definitely stand up to the mark and pay the dues. I'll prove myself," stated Cara confidently.

"Well, if that's the case, Matthew!" called Sebastian. "Assign her work at our company. Also, don't you have a notice period Miss Flair? How can you leave your current job so soon?" asked Sebastian staring with boredom in his eyes at Cara, his head still resting upon the palm of his hand.

"I will apply for resignation and the notice period is just 1 month" Cara stated the facts that needed to be revealed.

"Well, one month is not a long time, sir. It will be manageable, won't it?" Matthew asked his superior, looking in his direction.

"Yeah, that's not going to be a problem, Matthew, but I thought you knew better about such trivial matters as the secretary. Don't waste any more precious time and let's get back to work, shall we? Pay the hospital bill as soon as Miss Flair is discharged. Also, Miss Flair are you sure you're ready to work for our company?" Sebastian asked as if he was still bored. Nothing seemed to catch his attention or pique it.

"Yes, sir. I'll be able to handle it." Cara said with confidence.

"You might be underestimating the workload in our company, Miss Flair. Think properly before you decide," Sebastian got up to leave, and he checked the time on his wristwatch that looked expensive one last time before he left out of the room.

Matthew wished Cara good luck for the future, "Please make a wise decision, Miss Flair. Our company is one of the top most companies in this city. Also here's my name card if you need to discuss any further details or just to inform me about your final decision. Please call this number. Good luck for the future," he said with a gentle and polite professional smile.

Cara was charmed by Matthew's smile and kindness. She was awestruck. "T-thank you, Mr Matthew! Good luck to you too!" Cara shouted with nervousness.

"Also remember, according to what you choose the contract will be made and signed by you," reminded Matthew before leaving the room after his boss.

Now it was totally up to Cara to decide what she was going to do in the future. The decision was entirely hers but this new debt had only increased the problems in her already messed up life.

It was going to be harder from now on for her. For now, she had to focus even harder on her work and earning enough money to pay the debt she owed to the big bosses who saved her life.

She was already going through a tough time, this newly added burden had only increased her stress levels. She was worried about how she was going to handle the future events when the phone kept on the side table had started vibrating.
