Three days, it had been three days since she traveled with Iliriendil, yet there were only a few words between them. The thing that happened three days before still shocked Ilirielth. She didn't want to treat Iliriendil as a monster but those thoughts kept lingering in her mind. There was no one born in Loriana didn't disgust or afraid of curse creatures. That was not without any foundation. Cursed creatures were born to corrupt and destroy, they were born to be enemies of all living that were etched in their blood.
What was she thinking? Just because he didn't harm her right away didn't mean he wouldn't. And what would happen if they could this place? Would she leave him behind or rather would he stay behind? It would be a funny joke to let him stay among citizens. Even if he wouldn't do anything to anyone the curse would still kill them. So what was she doing here? Was she trying to make use of him and then stab his back?
" I'm sorry."
Iliriendil suddenly said breaking the silence, which cause her surprise. He had never initiated any conversation with her before. Iliriendil looked at her, his tentacles kept waving around in the air. If he was such a monster, would he act like this? She felt disgusted at her own thought, he saved her life, and without him, not even her corpse remained at the moment. She decided to talk to him.
" For what?"
" For the little thing, I killed. If I remember correctly it was a dragon."
" Why?"
" I thought I explained it to you."
" No, I asked why you said sorry to me?"
" You're quiet these days, that was the only reason I could think of."
After a few moments of silence. Ilirielth took a big breath.
" Yes, I was upset, so upset that I didn't want to talk to you."
" I'm sorry."
" No don't, I could feel it, you're not sorry at all aren't you? Iliriendil let me ask you, what's wrong with what you did?"
" With what I did?"
Iliriendil stayed quiet. Seemingly thinking deeply. Seeing that Ilirielth just sighed.
" If you don't even know what's wrong with what you did, don't be sorry. I don't blame you."
" So you're not mad at me?"
" I'm mad but I don't think I should. Living in this place for two months I understand. This is no place for kindness, you just did what you thought was right and it probably saved your life before. But trust me that's not the right way to do things, there was a much more complicated world out there."
Ilirielth decided, she would stop thinking about the complicated stuff that came with the day they get out of here. For now, there was a more important thing to do, which was to fix her friend's mindset.
" Iliriendil. You shouldn't resolve in killing just because you feel a little bit of threat. "
" I don't understand, we didn't just eliminate all the threats?"
" Because…. There'll be benefits in sparing lives. For now, you just need to remember that, I will find a chance to prove it to you."
In three days of their traveling, not a single monster dared to approach them. They immediately ran away upon seeing Iliriendil which was both a good and bad sign. The good was that Ilirielth could sleep soundly and their travel speed was much faster due to the lack of monsters. About the bad side… there was no food.
Ilirielth had to eat the last thing Iliriendil killed which was the dragon. Although the meat was much better than the disgusting bird, she would rather eat the bird. For someone that had elven blood. Eating dragons were like humans eating their dogs. Iliriendil brought a lot of meat but Ilirielth only eat a few. Her stomach was going to start a riot now. Looking at Iliriendil crumpling the dragon leg, deliciously. Ilirielth wanted to vomit.
" Iliriendil, could we go hunting."
" Why? We still have meat."
" I-I think the meat was not good, it seemed poisonous."
" What? I didn't feel anything."
" Y-You probably didn't feel it now but it would be dangerous for you to keep eating."
When she said that there was like a flick in Iliriendil's emotion. He threw the leg he was eating to the ground and immediately jump away from it. He looked at it like it was his arch enemy.
" So shall we go hunt?"
Iliriendil nodded.
Both of them scouting tracks of monsters. To her surprise, Iliriendil has an abnormal sense of smell and it seemed like he had some skill that allow him to scan his surrounding.
" There's food buried beneath the ground. It's very big, this must be the work of a bigger, we should dig it, while it still fresh." - he said
Iliriendil and Ilirielth began to dig the ground. Just like Iliriendil said, beneath them was a giant corpse of a monster that looked like a combination of a pig and a shark. Pig head, shark teeth, it looked ugly but to Ilirielth's new beauty standard this thing looked incredibly cute. There was one thing that bugged her, the monster was wearing clothes there was something like a sword near its hands. Her eyes were drawn to a gold medal on its neck which had a half human, half spider symbol on it.
