Gone

The chief looked at the young man engulfed in blue light and flipping a floating book in front of him. The man has a golden mask wrapped around his face and is covered by robe.

The scene is even more eerier when he caught a glimpse of the man arching while holding his stomach seemingly laughing while looking at him and soldiers.

"Where the fuck are you!? I said prepare to attack!"

The lanky guy and his friends, although confused in the first call, suddenly dropped everything in their hand and picked up their guns upon hearing their chief shout again.

They came running to him only to see their leader staring with wide eyes outside the prison.

They followed his gaze, and to their fright, saw a seemingly young man that looks like a god from somewhere with the attire and the light surrounding him.

"Shoot! Just shoot everything! Pour all your bullets!"

The chief shouted maniacally as he unpinned multiple grenades and threw them at the man outside the prison.

The young soldiers did not hesitate in the order, they were bolder after the recent onslaught of the innocent captives. Each of them held guns of different caliber, but with only one target.

*BOOM!*

*BANG!* "BANG!* *BANG!*

The lot in front of the prison quickly became a scattered mess with gray gun powder obscuring the view.

"Throw! Shoot! Use EVERYTHING!"

The chief still has goosebumps in his hands, his honed instincts telling him that it is very dangerous, prompting him to command rashly.

After a while when all grenades have been thrown and all guns are empty, they waited for the smoke to recede.

Slowly...

They saw, there, a man still covered with blue light shell. Laughing wildly.

"Hahaha, LOOK! I DID NOT DIE! HAHAHA!"

His voice seemed to be filled with taunt but with a tinge of self-pity and regret.

"M-Monster"

The chief mumbled with his body shaking.

"RUN! Spread as far away from each other! GO! GO!"

045 looked at the hastily retreating soldiers.

"Hmm, the last page, it may be the best."

He turned the book on its last page, there a drawing of the imprint similar to the one on his chest is present, but strangely enough, he can't activate the magic.

Not really understanding any of it, he just go to the second last page. There he saw a diagram with superimposed image of a skeleton clothed with dark robe holding a big scythe.

He willed for it to be activated.

Suddenly, the sky dimmed.

A big shadow engulfed the whole large prison, like how a huge nimbus cloud covering everything.

The soldier looked up...

And there, up high, is a huge skeleton holding a big scythe.

Its skull seemed to be smiling to them, but it did not bring warmness. In the contrary, their body seemed to be covered in blocks of ice at the moment that they can't stop shivering. Some even pissed their pants without realizing it.

The huge skeleton swung its scythe slowly.

'RUN. SHIT! MOVE LEGS! WHY DON'T YOU MOVE! I don't! I don't want to die!'

Although the soldiers head and thoughts are screaming, their body are stuck to the ground. They can't move. The only thing they can do is shiver.

"hehe... hehe..."

The huge skeleton completed its swing. It laughed a little, then dissipated, leaving the place as if it has never been there.

The soldiers wondered what happened and tried to move.

*Thud!* *Thud!*

For some reason multiple of them tripped. They moved their upped body to look the their feet, a natural response from tripping. But there was none.

"My feet! Where!?"

They say that pain only comes when you see the injury. And surely enough, after all the adrenaline is released.

"ARGHH!"

Multiple screams resounded in the prison. It got so loud that the place seemed to be shaking.

The soldiers saw their body completely disintegrate starting from their toes slowly creeping up to the rest of their body.

Some of them tried to run, but their body is still disintegrating.

Some even tried to cut the part of the body with their dagger, but the disintegrating of their body only continued.

What's even more enigmatic is that no blood seemed to flow out from the opened veins from severed legs. Even when the part where their heart is located got disintegrated, they are still conscious and reeling in pain.

Slowly, everyone in the prison got disintegrated leaving no traces of their existence behind.

045 laughed wildly while hearing the shouts and screams up until the very last scream for help he heard.

He saw the page on the book has its drawing fade away leaving a blank page bringing him back to his sense.

He looked again in the cell.

His anger now dissipating. What followed is huge agony.

His body arched downward and he banged his head in the now grayed soil from the gun powder.

"WHY! WHY DIDN'T ALL OF YOU DIE SOONER!"

"WHEN EVERYONE OF MY FAMILY WAS STILL ALIVE!"

"WHY!"

"Why!"

"why"
