CHAPTER 3 WTAF

He gave me a look, one that I couldn't decipher and then with a slight forward move to my neck he inhaled my scent deeply.

A shiver run through my spine and neck as my eyes caught his again. I felt my mouth slightly dropping open.

And I also saw his honey eyes turning a little more into coffee. Just when I was about to break our staring contest, he bit his lower lip while his glinting eyes were on mine.

That action did something in me, it was so sensual that I had this sudden inexplicable urge to jump him and at the same time get the hell out of here.

Choosing the latter I quickly went on the other way, not caring one bit about his calls for me.

Normally, I'm not this affected by the opposite sex, I don't know why I behaved like a shy teenager in front of that total stranger (with a handsome face).

What happened earlier, was absolutely foreign but at the same time oh so familiar. It was soulful.

It was not just some physical attraction, it was in fact something much deeper. He can't be my mate, at this closeness my wolf would know. Wouldn't she?

'Don't fly too close to the sun.' Came a sudden thought to my mind.

Right.

I'm not looking for anyone right now. I'm independent. I'm successful.

More relationships will only bring disappointment. I'm happy with the liberty of choosing casual over long-term.

Inhaling a deep breath, I let the waves of anxiety settle down a bit.

Moving forward and exiting the building I glanced over the black night sky. It was tar black with not a speck of the Moon or its stars anywhere in sight. A cool breeze swept my hair to the other side. And I could just smell it in the air.

There was something ominous in this night.

As if, it's telling a tale.

Bringing myself back to the thoughts of my favorite ice cream tub, I stepped on to the sidewalk with the intent of catching a cab but when I turned, what I saw put my body in a frozen state.

Heading straight towards me was a speeding BMW that was moving faster than the light I would say.

My first instinct was to get out of its freaking way but somehow my body was ice frozen at the spot.

My Manolos encased feet weren't listening to me anymore.

While my brain was screaming commands.

"MOVE BODY, MOVE!!!!" I spoke to myself frantically.

The distance between me and the BMW was getting shorter and shorter but I couldn't move at all. As if some force above already decided that this is how I will die.

Alone, without any sort of love surrounding me. Will my parents miss me? Maybe they won't, they haven't talked to me or forgiven me in the past nine years.

Tears started to form in my eye and I just knew that this is my end.

Before the car could slam into my body, there was a loud honking that blew off my ears and I caught a glimpse of a bright flash of white light into the night sky, then everything was just jet black again and then,

BAM.

When the car slammed into me, my body was sent spinning into the air and I could feel the air in my lungs getting sucked out.

It was like everything was happening in a slow motion.

First, I was sent flying into the sir, next I was slammed into another car and rolling down the front of its windshield and then my head hitting the corner side of the stone on the pavement.

I could hear the sickening crack in my head and I could feel something wet flowing over my face and in my eyes, most probably my own blood.

I was having trouble breathing, and my ribs and chest felt constricted.

It was like they didn't have enough space or power to draw in some much needed air.

The first to come should have been the pain, but maybe my body was still in shock.

As the adrenaline rush came down I was blown with the impact of pain my injuries brought. It burned like I was burning in the hellfire.

The area was soon covered with screams and loud noises of people, I was not able to keep my eyes open properly but even in the dim light, I could see the face of a certain someone.

Before I knew it, everything turned black.

ONE YEAR AND ONE MONTH LATER

In an Unknown Place

A baby cooed in a gold cradle and a baby mobile made of precious sea stones and diamonds moving above the infants's head.

"Oh my, look my lady, our little angel just turned on her own today, how lovely."

An overly happy caretaker gushed to an elderly woman who was sipping on her saffron tea from a porcelain cup decorated with gold and red diamonds.

The noble lady set her precious tea cup on a silver table, at the side of her silver settee and eyed the baby from her gold glasses. A proud and loving smile forming on her crisscrossed face.

At the same time, a young boy of eighteen entered the room in a formal uniform and bowed down deeply.

"Lady Zarivier, the naming ceremony for the young lady is about to begin, yours and the young lady's presence is requested."

Standing up with utmost grace and elegance, the Lady of House Zarivier commanded, "Beatrice, prepare the young lady for the ceremony and follow me."

"Yes, my lady" answered Nanny Beatrice and bowed down deeply along with twenty five other maids.

The gold and emerald encrusted gates of the room opened once again and entered a tall man of robust built, confident face and a bright smile showcasing all his perfect pearly whites.

Chapter 3 is up.

What are your thoughts?

Who is this baby and how come these people are soo loaded? : )

Who do you think is the man that entered last? Is he our hero??

Chapters in this book will be a little short, close to 1k words per chapter.

This is because I don't get enough time to stick to a schedule where I can write more words in all the chapters.

I am a university student and it's tough to make time but these characters are so loud in my head and begging to be created.

So, I had to write them. : )

If you are liking them so far then please don't forget to like, share and comment because it encourages me and lets me know that you are invested in my book. : D

Yours,

Ver
