I knew I would be revealing myself to Valerie very soon, but I'd never expected it to be this soon. This felt too fast. I was expecting her to be shocked to her bone.

"Don't.. come.. closer." The fear was in her eyes and voice as she tried to move away from me, but I didn't heed.

I moved closer to her and grabbed her tiny waist, pulling her against my chest to save me from the sanity I might lose if she rejected me.

"Let go of me, let go of me now!" She hit me in the arm, but I held onto her.

"I will never let go of you, Valerie. Not now, not ever." I swore, stressing every word as my heart beat faster against my chest. I held her to my chest, desperately clinging to her.
