Abduction before the coronation

Valerie

The Third Prince didn't reply to me before he left the room. He had just told me to rest, and eat well.

I have been relishing in my outrage ever since he left. I hadn't touched a plate of any of the food that Coal brought with some other servants.

It was a full course. It was my favorite. bacon, sausages, eggs, black pudding, baked beans, tomatoes, mushrooms, toast, and even coffee.

My stomach churned in hunger as I looked at the table, but I quickly looked away. I must not be swayed by this. I can't just eat and rest when I have no idea what my fate is.

"My lady, you still haven't taken anything aside from the medicine. Your stomach will hurt. If anything happens to you, His Royal Highness will be mad at us, please eat something." Another servant that had introduced herself as Ebony urged.
