I was panting heavily beside Valerie, my heart feeling heavy with sorrow and anguish as I fixed my gaze on her for any physical reaction but there was none. Even after I had to mark her to revive her with my energy, she was still unconscious and she wouldn't open her gorgeous eyes to look at me.

"What did I do wrong? I marked her correctly, right?" I asked Fuzzy Gray anxiously because I'd never seen or witnessed any mating ritual hosted by my Pack Elders for any of the royal family or the noble werewolves before, and marking my mate, who was a human, was really complicated to me.

"You did. We just have to wait for her body to adapt to it. If we had been a minute late, we would have lost her." Fuzzy Gray mind-linked to me and it took a few minutes for me to realize that he didn't sound in my mind this time.
