The magic circle below the Undead King began to expand its range. Lights from the magic danced in the air around him as his long fingers twitched and moved as he cast his magic. A black smoke rising from the ground beneath him where he stood. His words were incomprehensible and his voice was dark and hoarse.
As the smoke spread throughout the surrounding area the bodies of the deceased all around began to shudder. Their throats letting out a faint groan that almost sounded growl. Rising up slowly to their feet as they started to attack anything living within their sight.
Shhnnggg!
Leo's sword came down towards the undead king only to be blown backwards by a magic barrier.
Quick to regain his footing, Leo glanced to his side towards the others. He could see Zoe rushing off towards a nearby building. It was unclear to him at the time what her purpose was but he had no time to think about that. Princess Isis and Daryl both had their weapons out and were cutting down the undead that were trying to close in on them.
Fffsssss..... Thud!
Without time to react a white and blue arrow swept past them and struck the undead king in the arm. There had been no time for him to react block the attack. With a screeching sound from the skull of the undead king his focus wavered causing the light of the circle to fluctuate for a moment.
Thud! Thud! Thud!
The arrows rained down one at a time onto the undead, dropping them instantly. None of the arrows that were fired missed their target point.
His name was Micah, the king of Cista Kingdom. With beautiful long blue hair he paced himself casually down the street as if he was on a daily stroll in his own backyard. His eyes gave off the air of someone who could see straight through a person at a glance. In his hands was a translucent crystal bow, pulling one arrow after another without pause from his back and firing it off straight for any enemy that he saw towards his kingdom.
"It's the king!" "His majesty came!" survivors called out when they caught sight of their king.
"Guards! Clear the survivors from the area!" King Micah's voice was loud and without hesitation. His priority was to protect his people from the threat of the undead king.
That damned lizard, I arrive and he's already left the problem that he brought me behind. One of these days I will turn you into dragon scaled footwear! Micah thought to himself as it was not the first time in his life he had to clean up after Bredret. Since Bredret was a dragon there was simply not much they could do against him when it came to him causing a mess. They could only clean it up and verbally scold him.
"What are you looking dazed for?! Move it!"
"Yes, your majesty!" They quickly responded and took off to do their jobs.
Vorbuk listened to the king's words from a distance as he remained focused on their fight with the undead king. Using the distraction from the king's arrow Leo was able to rush forward and slash at him from the side. His sword managing to leave a long cut on the shoulder of the undead king.
Blood dripped from his shoulder as the undead king flung his hand up. A purple light bursting forth from the palm of his hand that sent everyone flying backwards a few feet. Nobody within the king's sight remained standing as they all had landed flat on their backs painfully.
Vorbuk growled in pain from his landing as he allowed his body to sink into the shadows and disappear. Focusing on trying to close in on the enemy.
The undead king began to channel his magic once again without anything distracting him. It was bright around him as he poured his mana into his magic. Screams could be heard all around from scared commoners and nobles escaping his creations.
Everyone working under Cista's king nearby was working hard to rescue as many as they could from the gruesome fate that the undead king was trying to bring to the kingdom.
King Micah was not the type to waver in protecting those under him. Rank, status, species, nothing mattered to him when weighing the worth of someone's life. It was the reason his kingdom stood strong and refrained from joining in the wars to this day. His family's belief had always been to maintain the safety of the lives they held in the palm of their hands by ruling the kingdom. To him, all life was precious. But that did not mean he would not take someone else's life when they threatened his kingdom. King Micah was not afraid to kill, regardless of how much he detested doing it.
Ting! Ting! Ting!
King Micah shot arrow after arrow at the undead king. Each one of them rebounded from his defensive barrier. But Micah could see the form of Vorbuk launching from the shadows behind the undead king. He was simply helping divert the undead king's attention, to aid him. While the king was shooting his arrows Leo quickly rushed himself forwards. Pushing himself to remain standing as he gave one strike after another against the barrier as well.
With a fierce growl Vorbuk's fangs sunk into his arm. The magic barrier began to waver before shattering. For a moment it felt as if things were going as planned for Vorbuk. Except his head was beginning to feel hazy. Blood! There was something wrong with the blood of the undead king that was dripping from Vorbuk's fangs as he held onto him.
Wh-What? What's going on?! Vorbuk thought to himself as he began to feel a sense of panic.
[ The Undead King's blood is unique. Poison flows throughout his veins. It is not deadly, but it will make you feel faint.. ]
The voice of god responded to his thoughts vaguely. It probably just didn't want him to pass out and die.
Vorbuk could not help but feel like the enemy was like a walking narcotic. It was the effect of the harsh manipulation his body had undergone to become what he was today. He was neither dead nor alive. The undead king was not even something anyone was certain they could call human. His figure may have seemed mostly human but there were still obvious qualities that displayed him as if he were no different then a monster.
Vorbuk had to release his grip on the undead king and jump away. When he did he could feel a blast of mana slam into his side causing his entire body to be smashed against the wall of the closest building.
With a grunt Vorbuk wobbled his way back up to his feet and growled. He could see Leo still swinging his sword repeatedly at the undead king.
"Vorbuk!" Isis called out to him as she cut down an undead that was trying to rush Vorbuk from his side while he was distracted. Her beautiful white and pink clothes were stained from the blood of their enemies and she was breathing heavily.
