Chapter 312

Was I suppose to look for pointy ears? Those are Cadirade knights! The pirate felt frustrated by the question that Prince Leo had asked him.

"We should move. If we get caught by them it will result in a fight." Prince Leo suggested.

Captain Cory smirked at the suggestion. Running away was something that Cory did not like to result to. It was not his pride but perhaps he was a bit crazy was the impression they got from him as he replied, "I never run from a possible fight. If they want to stop us from passing through things will not go as they wish."

"You want to fight against the knights? We are not sure who is leading them." Prince Leo could not guarantee that his guess was correct. What if it is someone else leading them? It is impossible to know what kind of threat awaited them if they were caught by the Cadirade Knights.

Ashley felt the need to speak up as well, "My duty is protect master. Instigating in a fight against the Cadirade Knights could put him at risk."

"Avoiding the knights would waste more time. At this rate we have no choice. We must go straight through them. The longer we struggle to get to Drethia," Captain Cory sighed as he hated explaining things to them, "There is more chance we will get caught up in a worse situation when they realize I've taken His Majesty, Vorbuk, out of Theapan Kingdom. Do you want them to know he has left the prince who is still no different from a child in charge of the throne?"

If the nobles from another kingdom or even Theapan who was vying for the Theapan Throne overheard news that Prince Chase was in charge of affairs while Vorbuk was away it could be a disaster. Other threats could attack the kingdom before they had a chance to return home. That was the whole reason they left discreetly while Daryl was at war with Brolan.

The war was being used as a diversion for threats outside the kingdom. The nobles who worked in the palace closest to the king were the only ones aware of him being gone. This was due to the fact they would need to report to Prince Chase while he was away and could not be avoided.

[ Mission Alert: Defeat The Enemy Knights ]

A familiar alert popped up in Vorbuk's vision. It was a voice that he still felt annoyed to hear. The system always had a mind of its own. He was unsure which god was behind the voice but he wanted to snap at the sudden sound of their voice. It felt unpleasant.

The wolf growled up at Prince Leo as he said, "Captain Cory is right. We should not delay any further. If it comes down to a fight we can handle it."

"Vorbuk?" Prince Leo was surprised that the wolf was agreeing to fight the knights with the pirate captain. He thought the beast would want to avoid unnecessary trouble as well. A sigh escaped him as he spoke to the pirate captain, "Do you have a plan to fight them?"

"Yeah," Captain Cory chuckled as he answered, "Do not die. Keep on fighting."

Prince Leo stilled as he thought, Is he serious right now?

Meanwhile,

The Cadirade Knights had no idea they were heading towards the pirates. In fact a few Yiven Knights were among them. Those elves were being lead not by their General, Vulen. They were being lead by Elas with Allisa by his side. Both of them worked closely with Vulen and were loyal to him even if they had to enter dangerous places such as Drethia Kingdom where death hid behind every corner.

Elas had no idea what General Vulen had done to strike a deal successfully with the Drethia King. He trusted his general to do what was right. If he had known what Vulen had given away in order to go through with the deal his own heart may have dropped on the spot.

"Is there any sign of him?" Elas asked the archer, Allisa. His green eyes scanning the surroundings as he wondered where General Vulen had gone off to on his own. The two of them were working with the Cadirade Knights as they were ordered to do so. However he could not understand what was taking the general so long to meet back up with them.

Allisa shook her head as she replied, "There is no word from him."

The two of them walked side by side. Elas knew that Allisa was still torn up about losing Aywin. She had a craving for wanting revenge against Prince Leo and the beast that he traveled with. Elves aged much more slowly compared to humans. Most of that long life for Allisa had been spent growing up beside Aywin and Elas. He had always seen the two of them together while Elas was more like the older sibling who took care of those two.

"You do not think he would actually abandon-?" Allisa was not as solid in her belief that General Vulen would never abandon them as Elas was. She had seen how upset he had been lately. It was hard to not notice how broken up he was becoming over Queen Lyra.

"Do not doubt General Vulen!" Elas stopped her from questioning him, "Regardless of what has happened or what he does there is always a reason. He would not simply toss away Yiven."

"You are blind when it comes to the general, Elas." Allisa could not understand why Elas was so loyal to the general to the point that he could not understand their situation. General Vulen would do anything for the sake of Queen Lyra. She was certain that it would be possible for General Vulen to throw away Yiven if it was for the ice queen herself.

Elas on the other hand felt he knew the General very well. He knew that the general was a masochist for attention from the ice queen. Many times he had personally witnessed as General Vulen groveled before Queen Lyra like a weak pup. There was more to General Vulen then that. He had seen the way General Vulen was when the queen was not around.

General Vulen was rough around the edges but he was kind. He cared about those under his command and cared about others regardless of where they came from. The general was willing to fight for the sake of Yiven and those he cared for even if it put his life at risk. Elas could not imagine that he would go as far as to give up on everything he cared about for the sake of the ice queen.

Yes, he might be tempted. No. Elas felt that even if General Vulen was tempted to throw everything away that in the end he would come to his senses. If General Vulen really did throw everything away he would regret it. Elas would not allow his general to fall completely. He respected him too much to allow him to destroy what bit of himself still remained.

Elas was not loyal to Queen Lyra of Ethiadan Kingdom, nor was he loyal to King Curtis of Cadirade Kingdom. He was loyal to General Vulen of Yiven Kingdom.
