Vorbuk could not understand what could drive the elf to be so obsessed. If the rumors about General Vulen being obsessed about Queen Lyra were true it made sense. But why would he be so driven for someone like her?
SsskkK!
Their swords scraped against one another. The sound was enough to be uncomfortable but there was no time to think about it. Vorbuk growled at the elf as they both jumped back from one another. Striking a pose and swinging again and again. Every strike blocked by one another as they moved on to take another.
He knew that the longer he used his mana excessively the quicker he would become exhausted from the fight. Vorbuk had to be careful while fighting the elf. General Vulen was more experienced in fighting with his sword then him. There had been many years for him to train and become talented with his weapon. The only reason Vorbuk could keep up was because he had trained with talented individuals from his group.
Vorbuk's eyes flashed as he knelt down to avoid an attack from General Vulen. The general's sword swiping sideways just above Vorbuk's head. The general was startled at first while trying to adjust himself after the attack. Before he had time to react to Vorbuk's motion to lower himself, Vorbuk slammed his shoulder into the elf. Knocking him backwards as Vulen tried to steady his balance.
"That wont be enough!" General Vulen could tell how hard the beast was trying to fight back against him. He could sense how much Vorbuk was struggling against him. After years of experience he could see the lack in experience. However he found every motion of Vorbuk unpredictable which troubled him in a different way.
Vorbuk raised his sword and started to spin it round and round. If he was going to fight with the elf he had to put in extra effort. He pushed his attacks hard against the elf. Putting out as much force behind every strike as he could. They could both feel the weapons quivering in their hands with every strike. Every time the blades collided a loud clang would reside in the air.
Gritting his teeth with a growl Vorbuk felt the need to use his mana more. If he continued to push himself it could become dangerous. Vorbuk asked the elf, "What do you get out of doing any of this?"
"Enough." General Vulen's single word was not an attempt to shut him up. That was indeed what he felt he got from doing these things. It was enough to please Queen Lyra. It was also enough to simply remain by her side. That was how it had always been for him. A beast like Vorbuk would never understand that.
Vorbuk growled at the elf as the weapons collided once again. Twisting his blade around so that the dual bladed sword's other end swiped upwards at the elf. The blade swiped up from the side cutting General Vulen's side.
General Vulen flinched. Grunting at the sudden pain from the wound on his side. He managed to pull himself together and avoid the attack enough that the wound was not fatal. That did not mean his condition wasn't poor. Vulen knew that if his wound was not tended to it could become fatal in the end. He had to end the fight with Vorbuk quickly.
"Master~!" Ashley's voice rang out as the vampire was getting closer to their location.
Vorbuk turned his gaze to look as he saw Ashley holding a dead vampire by their neck. There were two more on the ground beneath him. He called out, "Ashley?!"
"Do not get distracted!" General Vulen was annoyed that Vorbuk's attention was pulled away from their fight. It felt like he was being disrespected. He swung his sword at him with all his strength.
Boooom! Booom! Booommm!
The ship was struck by the pirate ship again. Few barriers were able to be kept up now. Many of the vampires on ship had been killed. Others were busy fighting off the intruders, dealing with damage to the ship, and defending the ship by attacking the pirate ship.
Smoke was coming up from various spots in the ship. It was creaking and shaking beneath their feet. Something was going wrong with the ship causing them all to look around. The only two that were focused on fighting still was Vorbuk as he blocked the attack from General Vulen.
"Vorbuk!" Prince Leo's voice rang out in the background. The prince had caught up with Ashley and was followed by Sebastian. It was hard to focus on the others approaching him as Vorbuk fought off General Vulen.
Booooommmm! Crrrrrrkkkk!!
The ship started to tilt causing everyone on board to slide sideways. Everyone fell to their backs as they tried to find things to hold on to. They were slowly going down. General Vulen's ship was going to crash.
Prince Leo panicked when he saw Vorbuk slide down the ship. He held on to a rail on the ship in order to keep himself steady. From behind he saw Ashley tossing Sebastian towards a safe place to hold on. He could not loose track of the beast again.
No. He could not loose his friend again. Prince Leo thought. Kicking himself off from where he had been holding on he slid towards the direction Vorbuk was sliding. Reaching out his hand he called out for him, "Vorbuk grab on!"
"Leo?!" Vorbuk was startled to see the prince coming after him in this situation. On reflex he reached out his free hand and grabbed hold of the prince's hand.
Prince Leo held on to Vorbuk's hand tightly as he grabbed hold of the side of the ship. If he had been a second slower they would have completely slipped overboard. The ship was descending from the skies slowly. It seemed the firing from the pirate ship had damaged the magic core that powered the ship.
Vorbuk could feel the terrified little fox clinging to him from just inside the chest of his clothes. She had moved to a safer place when things started getting dangerous. It seemed the little fox was a quick thinker. He felt she may be very intelligent.
Prince Leo's hand started to slip as it became difficult to hold on. It would be impossible for them to make it much longer. Leo called out to him, "Hang on Vorbuk!"
"This ain't going to work, Leo!" Vorbuk tried to call out the prince. If the prince continued like this they would all fall together. The prince did not need to fall with him. He did not have time to plead with the prince over the matter.
"D-Damn-!" Prince Leo's grip on the ship was lost.
The three of them began to fall from General Vulen's ship together. Many others had already fallen overboard long ago. In fact many could die with the ship when it crashes into the earth.
Vorbuk did not expect that he would fall from the ship like this.
Ah, is this how I die? Vorbuk wanted to laugh at that thought as it flashed through his mind.
"Vorbuk!" Prince Leo called out to him as they fell.
No, I can not die like this..! Vorbuk did not want to die together with the prince in this situation. He had to think of something.
