Chapter 335

To avoid being easily spotted Captain Cory considered landing the ship. Much attention had already been drawn to them and their ship. He ended up abandoning the ship behind to move forward. Later he would go back for his ship. For the time being he chose to traverse the witch's garden by foot.

Vorbuk did not deny traveling by foot. It might have been more dangerous but it was better then remaining in the air after spending so much time with General Vulen's ship. He was determined to spend as little time on board a ship again as possible.

Nobody left right away after docking the ship on ground level. They required much needed rest for the journey. Captain Cory was not about to make everyone leave while exhausted after everything that had gone down because of Kaiser and General Vulen.

Vorbuk was already low on mana and would not be able to make the journey much longer without resting first. Immediately after deciding their next course of action, Vorbuk returned to a room on the ship to get some much needed sleep. It did not take him long to fall deeply asleep leaving a troubled Prince Leo awake with the others to look after him. The prince was not able to sleep because his body was still stressed and wide awake.

Prince Leo walked the deck of the ship while others, including Vorbuk, got some proper rest. He was not the only one awake. While walking around he noticed that Ashley was wandering around the deck of the ship as well while looking to be high on alert. As a vampire Ashley did not require sleep so he was spending his time being on lookout.

"I know you do not sleep," Prince Leo spoke to Ashley as he walked towards him, "but even vampires need time to relax."

Ashley twitched at the prince's words, "Your sudden concern for my health is troubling. Do not pretend to care about me."

"What do you think will attack a ship full of pirates?" Prince Leo sighed while asking the vampire.

Ashley seemed to ponder the question before answering, "In the witch's garden it is impossible to know for certain what you could cross paths with."

Neither of them were aware of how true Ashley's words were. In fact they had already caught the attention of many things within the witch's garden. Many threats lived within the bounds of the witch's garden. The worst one that had caught sight of them the moment they entered the witch's garden was already following their ships movements. However they were unaware of his attention on them...

Meanwhile back at Brolan Palace,

Daryl and Bredret had managed to take control of Brolan with the knights of Theapan under his command. King Herald had been slain by Daryl. It was a victorious battle for the Kingdom of Theapan thanks to the command of General Daryl and the dragon Bredret.

The Kingdom of Brolan was small due to the size and small number of dwarves. Daryl lead the knights from the front back home towards Theapan. In the back knights kept guard as they traveled back with the remaining dwarves of Brolan as captives. They would be dealt with when they returned to Theapan.

Daryl was unsure what Vorbuk intended to use the dwarves for. His only task was taking over Brolan's territory and bringing back the dwarves. The wounds he had endured all this time had only worsened. Fighting through the pain had become harder for him to do as he knew his bodies condition well. He was beginning to look as though he would fall from his horse.

Bredret spoke up to Daryl about his condition, "You look like your going to die if you keep going like this. We should stop and get some rest."

"No," Daryl refused to slow down, "We must return quickly."

"Why? What about this mission is worth your life, Daryl?" Bredret asked him bluntly.

Daryl could tell that the dragon was worried about him, but there were other matters that he had to consider, "If we delay our return something could go wrong. It is best to return quickly. I will rest when we are home."

Home... That was a word unfamiliar to Daryl. It felt strange to speak of home when he had never truly had a place he could call home. Being an adventurer meant that he spent his life on the road. There had never been a time in his life since his childhood that he he'd had a place to consider home.

Am I starting to consider that place one? Daryl thought to himself when he realized it. It feels nice to have one again.

"Daryl?" Bredret called out his name.

Daryl did not respond. His thoughts were elsewhere as his body was starting to feel woozy.

Ah... Did the wound come open again? He thought while feeling warm blood run down his side again. The movement from riding on the horse had torn his injuries open.

"Daryl!" Bredret called out his name once again as he saw hm starting to tumble over sideways.

Bredret rushed up next to Daryl's horse with his own. Catching the falling man in his arms. Daryl had fallen unconscious and was breathing rapidly. The condition he was in was not a good one. He had not had any proper rest since the battle had begun. After getting wounded Daryl never slowed down and pushed through the pain. Everything was starting to catch up with him in a dangerous way.

Gritting his teeth the dragon knew the human needed to be moved carefully but quickly. There was no time to delay his treatment. Daryl's life was at risk the longer they delayed it.

"What happened..?" Daryl struggled to open his eyes after collapsing into Bredret.

The dragon used one hand to cover Daryl's eyes and said, "Rest. Leave the rest to me. I will get everyone back safely."

"General Daryl-?!" Some of the knights were confused by the sudden collapse of Daryl. He had lead them far on his command. On the return home to Theapan he had fallen unconscious from the wounds he had endured until the end.

AAoooo!

A few werewolves made worried howls for their general.

"He will be fine!" Bredret shouted at the worried bunch of werewolves and growled deeply from his throat at them, a cold glare in his eyes, the dragon held no attachment to them but they were important to Daryl and Vorbuk, "Everyone move out!"

The werewolves hesitated.

"MOVE OUT!" Bredret's voice rumbled throughout the air causing them all to shudder. The werewolves quickly moved into action once again. It was impossible for them to not feel fear under the pressure of a dragon like Bredret.

He looked down at the weak human, Daryl. Bredret could feel him shivering in his arms as he steadied the man in front of him. Holding Daryl with one arm and the horse with the other hand. It was not the first time he had taken care of someone on a horse. He had learnt to ride long ago for Celeste. Taking extra caution he made sure to carefully not make Daryl's wounds worse. Moving quickly in hope that he could get Daryl back quickly.
