Chapter 345

Vorbuk gave everything he had in order to block the strikes dealt to him by the headless horseman, Creed. It felt like he was being overwhelmed by him.

Clang! Clang! Clang!

With every strike he blocked he felt his heart pounding inside his chest. The focus and energy it took to block each one was exhausting him more then his usual fight. Ashley was a vampire but he had never trained Vorbuk to compare against such agility.

The headless horseman was not a large brute man. In life he had been an elf from the Yiven kingdom. He had trained his body to be agile and dangerous like a sharp blade. Every action he took could even compare to the best assassins. Although he was a knight he had trained his body to have speed when he fought instead of brute force.

Creed's sword swept sideways at Vorbuk causing him to jump backwards to avoid getting sliced open. Even if he was holding back from killing Vorbuk the fight was still taken seriously. Every strike he made prepared to hold back at the last second from killing him. His ability to focus was beyond most due to his vast years living as the headless horseman. He had to adapt to viewing the world in a different way from others.

Creed's voice rang out by Vorbuk's head as he used his mana to speak to him while standing before him with his sword firm in hand, "You want me to be loyal to you when you can not even hold yourself against my sword? If I fought you seriously I could have already killed you by now!"

Vorbuk felt agitated by the headless horseman's mocking words as he replied, "Am I any worse then what you are loyal to now?"

"I am not loyal to that man!" Creed's voice roared throughout the air around them.

CLANG!

Vorbuk almost stumbled backwards as he blocked another strike from the headless horseman with his own duel bladed sword. He could tell that Creed was agitated at the idea of his loyalty belonging to the Drethia King and the god Chynir. Though he was agitated, Creed's focus on the fight did not waver enough for Vorbuk to catch an opening.

"Dark Blast." Vorbuk muttered the words under his breath as he reached out his hand. A black ball of shadows formed at the palm.

When the dark blast shot out from the palm it went towards the headless horseman. Vorbuk could see Creed's horse rush over. The horse reacted instantly to Creed's hand gesture to summon him. Bringing itself over to block the attack from Vorbuk.

BAMMMM!

Dust was thrown everywhere on impact with the undead steed. It made things difficult to see at first. The tense atmosphere caused his heart to race.

The horse whinnied as the smoke from the impact began to clear. It had hardly affected the undead horse. The undead horse was like a walking tank. It had taken the attack without a scratch. Vorbuk felt himself get the chills as he watched the headless horseman, Creed, climb atop that steed.

"I was going to avoid using my mount if possible. It seems you finally want to take things more seriously." Creed's words sounded agitated by the sudden mana attack.

Vorbuk knew that he had no chance against the headless horseman without using his mana. He had to be careful how he used it. If he acted carelessly he would only exhaust himself before the fight was over. The only thing he could do was try to pace himself with every attack he'd make.

Vorbuk prepared his weapon in a defensive stance, "Some things can not be avoided."

"Let us see how confident you are when you are backed into a corner." Creed declared as his shoulders shook with excitement.

Creed did not like to follow others who were beneath him. He held no respect for the beast because he found Vorbuk to be unworthy. The headless horseman was a loyal man who held honor in keeping his own word. As long as the beast could prove himself worthy of his loyalty, Creed would accept him. However in front of him was only someone he found inferior to himself.

Clip-Clop! Clip-Clop! Clip-Clop!

The undead horse moved forward with great speed. If Vorbuk was willing to use his own mana as a weapon against him then he would use his own methods. Creed was not interested in holding back against the beast as he wielded his iron sword in hand. His horse leaping forward passed Vorbuk.

The sword in Creed's hand swiping outward at Vorbuk as he moved by him.

Clang! Shhhkkkk!

Vorbuk blocked the attack as his sword scraped against Creed's. As the horse moved their weapons were separated from one another. The headless horseman kept his steed moving. It had such great agility that Vorbuk could hardly follow the movement.

Jumping into the shadows beneath him that was cast by the grass and rock in the surroundings, Vorbuk descended into the shadows. Rushing through the shadows he made his way towards the headless horseman and his steed. He could tell from the look in Creed's eyes that he was able to sense the direction that he was coming from.

As he jumped out from the shadows beneath the steed the dual bladed sword spun in his hand. The sharp blades swiping out and around as he emerged from below. His blade sliced upward at the headless horseman's sword.

CLANG! CLANG! CLANG!

Their weapons impacted with each other again and again. Vorbuk used as much speed and force as he could. Causing the blade in Creed's hand to vibrate violently. It was enough to make an average mortal's hand become numb. Most would have dropped their weapon because of he endurance it took to maintain Creed's firm grip on his weapon. He blocked every strike Vorbuk made at up at him.

BAM!

Creed's foot slammed outward into Vorbuk's chest causing him to stumble back a few steps. He was forcing Vorbuk away from him and his steed. It was an attempt to maintain a sufficient distance from each other.

Vorbuk grunted as he stopped spinning his weapon. The stumble backwards had almost caused him to lose grip of his weapon. He was not experienced in battling with a sword like Creed. Red light flickered in his eyes as he felt the need to use his mana again. He had to consider things carefully when fighting against him.

Creed saw the flicker in Vorbuk's eyes and recognized that he was considering using his mana once again. He pondered what the beast was thinking about trying. The beast was not as high ranked as himself. Most attacks the beast could fire would not be harmful to him or his mount.

How foolish. What could he possibly do that could harm me? Creed thought to himself as he felt a surge of mana in the air coming from Vorbuk. He was unsure what he was going to attempt but he felt uneasy for the first time since he met the beast.

"What are you up to?" Creed's voice echoed out around Vorbuk where he stood.
