MARRY ME

"Look Jason, don't get me wrong… but. You can't keep doing this to yourself." Ryan sincerely said to Jason.

"Doing what?" Jason with an expressionless look on his face.

"Punishing yourself, just because you don't have a job now doesn't mean you won't have one in the nearest future." Ryan squeezed on Jason's shoulder lightly to cheer him up.

"That's easy for you to say because you have a job and earn good money," Jason said as he gulped down his drink.

"How can I feel comfortable living off someone else's hard-earned money?" Jason asked as he pushed Ryan's hand off his shoulder.

"Well I don't know how it feels like, but all I know is that this is a phase and it will surely pass, sooner or later." Ryan stood up after talking and prepared to leave the seat.

"Where are you going?" Jason asked.

"To pee or do I need your permission to do that." Ryan raised a brow at him.

"Be quick, I want to leave this place," Jason said as he scrolled through his phone.

Jason graduated from the university about a year ago, despite him being a graduate and acquiring a Ph.D. in business administration he still didn't get a job. He and Ryan went to the same university and graduated together, making them very familiar with each other. Ryan didn't have a problem with Jason living with him, in fact, he liked it since he doesn't have many friends. As time went on, they became close friends.

Olivia overheard everything that Jason and Ryan talked about and that gave her a brilliant idea. She smiled inside her as she thought of a good way to solve all her problems but she wasn't sure if Jason would agree to it. She grabbed her keys and went towards Jason with a convincing smile on her pretty face.

"Do you mind if I sit here?" Olivia asked, still smiling.

Jason raised his head to find a gorgeous-looking lady in front of him. He wasn't the type to compliment ladies for their looks but he couldn't deny that this lady in front of him wasn't pretty.

"Sure." He answered as he buried his head back in his phone.

"Hi, I'm Olivia." Olivia introduced herself as she waved her hand under his face.

"What do you want from me?" Jason asked with a blank expression, still staring at his phone.

"You need a job, don't you?" Olivia answered back with a question.

"Were you listening to my conversation?" Jason finally looked at her as he arched his brow.

"I didn't mean to but yes." Olivia was trying her best to be polite and not ruin her plans.

"Yes, I need a job. So, what is it you want?" Jason asked, sounding calm and irritated at the same time.

"I have a nice offer you won't be able to resist," Olivia said looking more serious than ever.

"And what could that be?" Jason asked, sounding more interested in the topic.

"Marry me." There was no hint of un-seriousness in her voice.

"What did you just say?" For the first time, Jason had an expression on his face and it was that of confusion. Jason looking like that was a funny sight to behold.

"What you heard me say." Olivia was tempted to laugh but she held back, she didn't want to be taken less seriously.

"And why would I marry a stranger?" Jason was back to his old, cold attitude.

"Because it will be of benefit to both of us." Olivia looked at him intensely as she spoke.

"Thanks, but I'm not interested." Jason went back to his phone.

"Even if it means getting over four hundred thousand dollars." The edge of Olivia's lips curved up into a smirk.

"Still not interested," Jason said as he looked her in the eyes.

"How can you refuse such an amount," Olivia said a little louder as she almost lost her cool.

"Cause, I know where this is leading to," Jason said.

"Wow, Jason, you didn't tell me you had a hot female friend here," Ryan said as he scanned Olivia's body with his eyes.

"Look at me that way again and I will pluck those eyes of yours," Olivia said as she threw Ryan a killer look.

"Woah… take it easy. I wasn't planning to flirt with you." Ryan raised his hand above his head as he moved a step back.

Jason smiled secretly as he watched what happened in a few seconds. He never expected such a reaction from her.

"Back to you, think about my offer. Trust me, you won't want to miss it." She said as she got up to leave.

". . ." Ryan is currently confused about what she is talking about.

"Here, when you're done thinking, call me." Olivia placed her card in front of him on the counter.

"Okay," Jason said after being quiet for a while.

"Good," Olivia said shortly with a small smile plastered on her face when she walked past them.

"Bye, Felix." She greeted the bartender goodbye as she walked out of the bar.

"Bye, sweetheart." Felix greeted as he continued attending to customers.

"So, she lets him call her sweetheart," Ryan said looking a bit surprised.

"Wait, what offer was she talking about?" Ryan asked as he sat down.

"I'll tell you when we get to the house." Jason stood up and walked away with his hands in his pocket.

"Keep the change," Ryan said after paying up then he rushed after Jason.

Jason is a guy of few words; he only opens his mouth when he feels it's necessary to talk. People knew him to be quiet and observant ever since he was in high school. He is smart and calculative and he hardly smiles or laughs when around people. Only a few people have seen him including Ryan and his girlfriend, Emma.

Emma and Jason had been dating since college, even though he was cold towards other people, he never behaved that way with Emma. He wasn't sure why exactly he liked her but all he knew was that he just liked her. But presently, Jason does not feel anything for her again and he knows she also has lost her feelings for him, but for some unknown reason, they are still together.
