A DEAL IS A DEAL AFTER ALL

The day for Jason to move into the Smith's mansion had finally arrived, all the necessary things he would need all through his stay in their house were all packed up and he was set to leave at any moment. He was sitting quietly in his room on the bed with a calm but disturbed look on his face, obviously thinking of something.

"How did everything change in such a short time?" Jason asked himself, inwardly.

"Emma and I broke up, I am suddenly married to a girl I know almost nothing about. It turns out that she is the daughter of a rich business man and now, a supposed son-in-law of the family." He stated as a long, quiet sigh escaped his lips.

"And to crown it up, I have to prove to her father that I am worthy of his daughter, who I have zero feeling for." He continued, pushing his dark hair to the back with his hands.

*Buzz* Buzz* [The buzzing sound of his vibrating phone interrupted his thoughts]

"Good morning, Jason." Olivia greeted over the phone.

"Morning." He replied, with his usual bored look on his face.

"I called to tell you that my mom already sent a car to pick you up from the apartment and I'm sure the driver is right outside the house. So, once you are ready to come over, he will drive you." Olivia informed him.

"Sure." He said shortly as he stood from the bed.

"Okay," Olivia said, and then she immediately ended the call, she was tired of Jason always hanging up first.

"Not bad." He said, staring at the screen of his phone.

After a while of quietly surveying his room, he stood up from the bed and then approached the door with the few things he took.

"Are you really that eager to leave my apartment so soon?" Ryan asked as he walked up to Jason.

"Well, yes. But that's not the reason, Olivia said a car is waiting for me outside. So, I have to leave now." Jason said as he walked past Ryan.

"Woah, I can't believe you're really leaving," Ryan said, looking a bit saddened but he quickly replaced it with his normal looks, he didn't want Jason to have a reason to laugh at him.

"It's just going to be for a month, that's if her father still isn't convinced," Jason said, walking to the entrance door.

"But what if he finally accepts this whole marriage of a thing, will you continue to live there?" Ryan asked.

"Who knows," Jason answered shortly.

"Why are you asking?" He continued.

"No reason, I just want to know how much time I have to be free from you," Ryan answered, casually.

"Well, I'm leaving, see you soon." He said while tapping one of Ryan's shoulders lightly.

"Sure, but that doesn't mean I won't come by the mansion, I still got to see how it looks on the inside," Ryan said both in a serious and joking manner.

"Okay." He replied shortly and then walked out of the apartment.

Ryan was really going to miss him because he was basically the only real friend and good company he had. He already started to imagine how boring it will be to live alone all by himself and to have no one to bug anymore.

"At least I'll get the remote all to myself at 7:00 pm without fighting for it." A small smile formed on Ryan's face after speaking.

. . .

Immediately the driver saw Jason, he stepped out of the car quickly and went to grab his bags.

"Good morning, Sir." The driver greeted Jason as he collected Jason's bags and fixed them in the car boot.

". . ." Jason replied with a questioning look on his face.

"Is there a problem, Sir?" The driver asked.

"Ahmm…. No, good morning." Jason answered and then walked to the back-sit door, about to open it when suddenly the driver grabbed a hold of the handle.

"Let me, Sir." The driver opened the door to the back-sit and patiently waited for Jason to enter.

As a formal assistant director of a company, he was used to people calling him "Sir" and showing him respect but him being treated that way again, seemed kind of new to him.

He stepped into the car after a few seconds and then the driver closed the door and rushed back to his Driver's seat. After a while of driving, they finally got to the mansion, the driver helped him with his bags and they went into the mansion.

Evelyn was sitting in the living room, with a book in her hands when Jason and the driver walked in. A smile formed on her face when she saw Jason.

"Good morning, Mrs. Smith." Jason greeted, putting on his most suitable look on his face.

"Good morning to you too, I hope I didn't bother you by asking him to pick you up this soon?" Evelyn asked as she approached them.

"Not at all." He replied.

"Good . . . . Logan, please go to Henry's study and inform him about Jason's arrival." She instructed the driver.

"Yes, Madam." Logan left for Henry's study, leaving only the two of them in the living room.

"Come, leave the bags," Evelyn said as she went back to her previous position. He did as she said and followed her.

"Look, I know it won't be easy to convince my husband but all I want you to do is to try . . . okay." She said to him.

"I know you have probably heard of how Olivia had rejected many marriage proposals in the past, now that she is finally interested, I can't let anything go wrong because Henry still has doubts. So, I want you to clear his doubts and do everything possible to make it work if you truly love Olivia." Evelyn continued.

"Sure, I will try." He replied.

Well, Jason had no choice, either way, he had already been given the money so, he had to convince Henry no matter what. A deal is a deal after all.
