INVITATION LETTER

After spending more than enough time at Ryan's apartment, Jason left to pick up Olivia so that he could return back to the mansion; he still had to finish up with the documents.

He could not deny that he didn't missed staying at Ryan's apartment or more so, missed Ryan himself. They have been friends for a long time, almost like brothers, even with the clear difference in attitude and behavior, they understood each other perfectly, shared really deep things with each other which just friends won't do.

Back when they were still in college, most people were convinced that Jason, one of the hottest guys in the college was gay since he never showed much interest in girls. A lot of girls at the college tried to draw his attention on different occasions but it was as good as useless because he showed not even the tiniest bit of attraction towards them. After that, rumors began to spread about Jason being attracted to his roommate, Ryan, who was definitely not gay. But, Jason shocks everyone when he started dating Emma. Even Emma had a hard time believing it when Jason asked her out because she was one of those girls who were hellbent on making him fall for them. And honestly, she did hit the jackpot by making him fall for her but, that wasn't the only reason for falling for her, she was also smart and that attracted him.

"How is Ryan? I mean, is he doing fine?" Olivia asked while they were on their way to the mansion.

"Yes, why do you ask?" Jason asked after arcing one of brows at her weird question.

"Just wanted to ask." She replied. Olivia was sure that Ryan didn't take Chloe's words to heart but, she still needed to ask just to be very sure.

After a smooth and quiet drive, they finally got back to the mansion. Olivia got out from the car first and then Jason did, walking side by side, they emerged from the entrance door into the main area of the mansion. The workers who were present at the moment could not help but get lost in staring at them, it was just too hard to not admire this picture perfect couple and the aura of perfection emanating from them. But the moment didn't last long because they disappeared into their room.

Later that evening, at the dining table..

"Sir, an invitation letter was sent to the mansion." A guard delivered the message, stretching out an envelope.

"Thank you." Henry said after cleaning the side of his lips as he collected the envelope.

"Dad, what is the invitation for?" Olivia asked curiosity with her fork and knife hanging in the air.

"Yes, honey. Who is inviting us?" Evelyn asked.

"It's a birthday invitation, Lucas is throwing a celebration for his father's 60th birthday and we are all invited, including you, Jason." Henry answered both questions with an additional announcement.

"Me?" Jason thought out loud unknowingly. He wasn't really paying much attention to what was happening at the table but, his ears caught the last words of Henry 'Including you, Jason. '

"Yes, you." Henry said casually.

"Lucas informed me about it this morning. So, I told him we have a guest at home and he said he would add a plus one to the list." He continued.

"That's great. Isn't it, Jason." Olivia said, throwing him the sweetest smile  she could form on her face as she gripped his knee with her hand, giving it a light squeeze.

"Yes, it is." He replied, sparing her a little smile.

"That's just great. So, when is the celebration, honey?" Evelyn asked, there was also a smile on her face.

"Tomorrow evening." Henry answered.

"Tomorrow!!" Olivia and Evelyn shouted at the same with eyes widened in shock.

"Yes, is something wrong?" He asked the obvious.

"Dad, why didn't you say it earlier?" Olivia questioned, with a worried look on her face.

"It slipped my mind." He replied.

"Ahh… What will I wear? Wait, is there a color code or something? Let me see that." She asked as she took the envelope and brought out the invitation card from it.

"Ahmm… There is no specific code of colors here which makes it more difficult to make a choice. Wait, it's a mask party… nice." She scanned through the invitation card carefully.

"Ohh… it's been a long time since we attended such a party." Evelyn added.

"Yeah, very long. I will definitely have to go shopping very early tomorrow morning." Olivia said to herself.

This made Jason wonder what he was also going to wear for the party. He had no fancy wear for such a party and he had never attended a mask party before. Attending the party meant he would have to dress properly, wear a suit with a nice pair of shoes and most of all, wear a tie. A deep line formed between his brows as he thought of the outcome of wearing a tie.

Few minutes later, they were done with eating which took longer because of the little chit chatting that took place then they all returned to their respective rooms. Olivia noticed the sudden change in Jason's facial expressions which prompted her to ask.

"What's wrong, don't you like the idea of tagging along with us for the event?" She asked, closing the door behind her.

"It's fine with me, I'm just not used to attending parties like that." He confessed.

"Well, you'll have to get used to it because we tend to get invitations alot." She said, tapping on his shoulder nonchalantly.

"Mmm…"

"But, don't worry too much about it, you will get tired of it. Trust me, it can also be boring." She added before falling flat on the bed, with her hands spread out from exhaustion.

"Hey, I thought you were done with studying these documents." She pushed her body up with the aid of her elbows before speaking.

"I am but I'm not sure if your father will still be in his study at the moment." He replied.

"He will, my dad will probably still be there in the next two hours." She said, taking off her shoes.

"Okay, I'll return it now." Jason grabbed the documents off the table stool and left for Henry's study.

"I hope you read through it carefully?" Henry asked.

"Yes, I did." He answered.

"Good." Henry collected the documents and then placed them with some other ones.

"I will stop by at the men's store tomorrow morning, you have to come with me so that we can get suitable clothings for you to wear to the event." Henry added.

"Okay." Jason replied shortly.

"Wait, have this." Henry stretched a small, black case towards him.

"That's a pair of cufflinks, I felt like giving it to you. You can also use it when going to the event." He said after Jason collected it from him.

"Thank you." He said as he wrapped his fingers around it.
