Ch 91: Softest Eyes

Then this gush of wind came diverting him from his feast. Following that was a thick broken stick that hit him on the mid-back. All the while the infant ever once stops wailing in the thirsty vampire's hold. As he looked about with everyone else.

Appearing out of thin air in this buff of cloudy black smoke, they looked over to see an angered vampiress glaring at him before giving Rex a gentle expression. Rex read her begging eyes and knew she wanted the baby. He understood she was desperate to be a mother. Like he also knew, she bravely waited for them to finish their cruel game with the infant's helpless mother. The vampiress knew the human mother had no chance of surviving them.

Nor would the infant that they had to. So she waited for them to feed on the young mother. All in the hopes she could claim the infant human. She only had to get Rex's blessing to welcome him into the clan. Then she'll be able to turn the infant into a vampire on the brightest blue moon that will be coming soon. Her eyes pouted at Rex like a puppy. As she felt her mate walk from behind her. With a few other vampires and vampiresses from Rex's clan.

Rex looked into those softest eyes and showed empathy towards her. Then he looked at her mate seeing he didn't have any readable emotions. To say her mate disapproved. Rex gives a faint gesture with his chin. The vampiress smiled and walked up to the vampire holding the crying infant.

He sighed passing the infant to her and said. "So much for taking my snack away."

"Go feed on something else that isn't so innocent!" She hissed like a protective mother.

All too joyous to take the crying infant off him. Without wasting time she extracted her fangs and bit the infant on his wrist very gently to mark him as her son. She made sure it didn't hurt him whatsoever by using her numbing venom.

The gentle vampiress only wanted to be sure none of the male vampires would defy Rex's blessing by killing him. Infant blood was hard to resist in this type of scenario because the baby wasn't theoretically destined to be a vampire. Therefore the vampiress was playing it smart to let these males know this is her child now.

Since it was common for vampires to kill those who weren't destined to be turned into a vampire like this infant. Unless their Alpha granted someone that wasn't destined to be one of them to join the clan anyways. But it didn't always mean another vampire in the entire coven wouldn't feed on those who get granted immortality. Before those certain individuals had a chance to claim it, no matter their age.

Like any loving mother, she beamed to rock the infant and hushed his cry. And went to her husband who was looking at his new adopted son. Since he loved his mate so much and saw how happy she was at this moment. He couldn't repudiate the adoption from what his wife's heart has longed to have.

"We'll need to buy him formula," he smiled to show his support. So she knew he accepted the human child as his son.

Her complex shone at her husband before she left his side. To show off her new baby to her friends that were happy to see her smile. Altogether, the group of vampiresses walked with her. The new mom didn't want to be too fast because the baby was so tiny and fragile. So the new mother walked the paths to leave the forest.

"Are you going all soft on us Rex since after you woke up from your long sleep?" The same shirtless vampire that wanted to feed on the infant teased as everyone else chuckled.

"You're just unhappy to lose your snack." Rex harmlessly heckled which made the others laugh.

Again he flipped through the magazine in the darkness. His eyes saw every detail, perfectly portrayed Victoria. He couldn't help but not admire her gorgeous body in that sexy Gothic-style wedding gown. His groin was stirring in lust to have her right now. He'd mate with her in a tall tree right now if he could.

"Jeez, Rex! Why didn't you just snatch her that day at the club when you had her cornered?" The vampire that just adopted a human son asked him.

"Because I am patient and it gives me time to figure her out," Rex gave a simple reply shielding his emotions.

"Who cares about that!" Amongst the group a different vampire said. "Just have your way with her and then drink her dry. Then you'll end the love-triangle between her, Kai, and Orlando."

Another male chuckled lowly to see that sadist glint in Rex's eyes. "I think that love-triangle just turned into a love-square." He couldn't help but tease by stating the obvious about Rex's conflicting feelings toward Victoria.

"Indeed, it has," Rex didn't deny what he felt.

He had nothing to hide that Victoria stirred something in him that no other female had done. "And if she is destined to be the gifted Queen the prophecy spoke about. Then I'll surely mark her and take her as my Queen for the coven..." His voice paused for a second. "Or perhaps I'll kill her."

Everyone chuckled at his last comment. They saw Rex was in a fickle about either killing Victoria or making her his.

Deep down he desired to do both but was hesitant because he didn't wanna mourn over her dead body while wishing he had kept her alive. Such a predicament, thought Rex.

"So what's the game plan now?" Asked the shirtless vampire. "I'm getting bored."

Unfortunately, being immortal gets boring at times. Such is why some willingly dormant themselves into a deep sleep to bypass a few centuries or more. This is what Rex precisely did before his trustworthy advisors woke him up recently.

"Shall we go snatch another helpless beauty from her bed and play a different game?" One of Rex's advisors asked.

Rex hummed thinking for a second. "Let's take a walk down the city streets. I'm sure we will find something interesting to do since it's nearing 2:00 am."

Within that second of agreeing they all vanish in a flash.
