Ch 126: Lying About Kai

Kai rolled himself up to the curb in a sleek black Mercedes sports car. I couldn't believe he was driving!

I got in the passenger seat and he shone at me coolly. "When did you get your license?"

"That's what I've been doing was learning how to drive," he beamingly said. "Today I bought this for you."

"You bought me a car?" I said shocked with excitement.

He kissed my lips and then said. "I'd buy you anything your heart desires."

"Let's get a puppy," I teased.

"Don't push your luck," he chuckled and I laughed harder at him.

Then he took off down the street. As a surprise, he took me out on a dinner date. Better yet there was no Rome or anybody else to interpret this evening.

Afterward, we went home. While Kai was in the shower, I sent in my college application and signed up for this semester starting next month in August. I texted Crystal and told her I was all set for the University.

"You Go Girl!" She was excited to hear, that I was keeping my independence.

But now I need to figure out a good time to tell Kai that I am returning to college.

Kai came out of the bathroom with no shirt on as he was drying his damp hair with a towel. I was playing with Sapphire on the floor at the front end of the bed. He took a seat on the edge sighing like he was exhausted.

"You know will have to make a vet appointment for Sapphire," I reminded him as Sapphire pounced on this toy mouse that I tossed.

"Why would a fluffy fur ball need a vet?" Kai snorted, carelessly.

I kinda figured he'd be like this since he hates animals.

"Well, I guess if you don't mind having kittens sometime in the near future. Then I guess we have nothing to worry about once she goes into heat," I smoothly told him and watched his eyes wake up to understand what I was saying. Without another word, he pulled out his phone from inside his black shorts and started calling his buddy.

"What's up," I heard Glenn on the speaker.

"I need you to gut the womb out of this fur ball as soon as possible!" Kai was dead serious but Glenn and I laughed hysterically.

If only Glenn was on video chat, he could see Kai's priceless expression. He was so serious it was hard to take him seriously.

"Yeah, I'll make sure Sapphire will get spayed," Glenn said after his laughter mellowed out.

"What!" Kai said, confused. "I don't want her spayed, I want her womb gutted!"

"Kai, spaying is removing her womb," I laughed.

Glenn added, laughing, "it's called spaying for female animals and neutering is for male animals."

Kai rolled his eyes. "I don't care what it's called! Just make sure you do it."

"Yeah, it's an easy surgery. Let her get older and I'll do the surgery," Glenn chuckled.

"Thanks, Glenn," I said.

"No, problem," said Glenn before he and Kai ended the call.

I tossed a ball across the floor for Sapphire to chase it. And stood up, standing in front of Kai's view. He flickered a smile at me in the sexiest look ever. I couldn't help but cup my hands on his face.

"You are so adorable," I whispered as I brought our lips together. I kissed him passionately and I felt this magic between us. Softly, our lips pecked away as he scooped me up to saddle on his lap. He played with my hair as we both just stared at each other smiling.

"You look tired," he softly uttered.

"I am," I whispered and then leaned in to kiss him again.

By the next morning, I was already in my office working with Ben at the coffee table.

"So what happened between you and Orlando?" Ben asked as we were sorting and organizing a file together.

For the moment, I was quiet since I couldn't tell Ben the full truth about what happened. "I'm sorry. I don't mean to pry. You guys just seemed like the perfect couple. I was shocked to read you married into the Collin family."

"No, you're good," I clarified, yet I partly lied. "Orlando cheated on me and Kai was there when I needed someone."

"So you just marry him so soon?" Ben questioned with good reason.

"Yes, you can say I did," I said what I had to. Things are already complicated enough for me.

"Wow, I never would've surmised Orlando was a cheater," Ben looked quite serious which had me puzzled.

"What do you mean," I asked, interested.

Ben said, "I hang out with Orlando and his brother. I knew Alejandro is a player and likes his doors open. But Orlando was so set on you. He was so hurt that you married Kai. He told me he made a mistake but he regretted it. I guess he was trying to admit he did cheat."

"I didn't know he said that," I shared with Ben as we sorted papers on my coffee table. "I had proof he was with many different women."

"I never saw that," said Ben. "Sure with Alejandro but not with Orlando. He was crazy about you."

Was it possible Kai tricked me? I started to question what I thought was true. Maybe Kai is lying and edited those photos he showed me. Like Orlando claimed that he did.

"Does Kai treat you right?" Ben asked with a troubled look. "He seems a little uptight and possessive with you."

"What makes you say that?" I asked him to deny what I already knew was true.

"By the way, he was staring at us talking and I saw he was flirting with Ms. Thorn. Luckily, she's not the type to try stealing someone else's man. I just hope he's not controlling you," Ben shared his honest opinion.

"Kai can be a pain but he's a natural charmer with the ladies. But he treats me right and gives me what I need," I said somewhat lying to coax Ben's rightful suspicion.

Although I knew Kai is very controlling and unpredictable. But I don't need Ben fighting my battles whenever I am learning how to handle Kai and his tempers.

"I'm glad to hear," Ben smiled. "I wanna be sure you're happy with him because in my personal opinion. You looked happier with Orlando."

"I'm fine, Ben," I masked a smile. "I am more than happy and I love Kai or else I never would've married a man I don't love." I don't know if I was lying to Ben or lying to myself.
