**Ch 319: Screams of Labor

And just like that, we set up a bedroom for Madeline to give birth in. Without me knowing it, the mansion had a birthing suite for the vampiresses. I was told they didn't give birth in hospitals because it was safer for them to stay near their Clan or Coven to avoid enemy vampires. In this case, Madeline chose to be with her parents over being with her husband's clan.

Within the hour, she arrived with her husband Jordan, his five advisors, and guardians. Also, his parents came with their clan as well. Not ready to push, Madeline walked around the living room with her mother, Zoey, as she held Zoey's hand tightly. She groaned in pain, and mostly everyone was exceedingly quiet for her sake. Only the vampiresses would speak in soft voices. The vampires were on alert, especially her husband. It's like the vampires knew, they'd be chewed out if they did anything out of line.

Outside the window, Mr. Collin doubled how many guardians were on patrol. This was a Royal birth, so the vampires took extra precautions, especially since she was having a boy. Having a newborn vampire born into the Coven was another future royal to take his reign. Enemy Covens would be quick to detain the infant if they ever had the chance. Being at peace or not, I guess things weren't as peaceful as the Vampire Covent tries to claim, in my opinion.

"Ouch!" Rose piped, holding her belly from on another sofa across the room.

"Rose, are you alright?" Mrs. Collin asked her while she helped her granddaughter Madeline walk.

"I think I'm going into labor," Rose announced, gritting her teeth in pain.

Ace was quick to pounce here. He took a seat beside her and touched her huge pregnant belly.

"You're due this month. Madeline's labor must've triggered it." Ace uttered in a mere whisper.

"You think!" Rose snapped at him with a growl from her agony.

It's not uncommon since I read vampiresses induce each other's labor, if their due-dates are close together. Rose's due date is next week, so it's not a surprise she's in labor.

A moment later, Kai came into the living room from being outside to keep watch.

"How's it going?" he quietly asked his mother by me on the couch.

"So far, it's going well," she replied as he peeked at Rose and his niece Madeline. Rose was on the couch with Ace and her mother. Madeline was on the floor mat while Jordan rubbed her shoulders, and Zoey kept a cold rag on her head. I learned Madeline was a little over 1000 years old, which marked her as a young vampiress. And this was Madeline's first vamp baby, so she was naturally scared and wanted her mother. Zoey was human while she was pregnant with her. Officially, I finally found out, Zoey transformed into a vampiress around a thousand years ago during the most recent Brightest Blue Moon.

On the other hand, Rose was far older. Even though she was still scared, she had it more together. You could say, she was better prepared to have her first vamp baby with the wisdom she carried from being older.

The hour came when they both went into a private room. Outside it, we could hear them both outcry in pain while Dr. Riley and her nurses were back and forth between both rooms. Zoey and Mrs. Collin were with Madeline to comfort her. Rose has her mother and aunts. Her father was in the living room, pacing everywhere.

"Frank." Mr. Collin addressed his advisor. "I'm sure everything is fine."

"You're right." Frank took a seat by him on the couch. "I'm just nervous. I've never heard Rose scream like this in her life."

Rose's cries were intense. Intense enough to make every hair on my arms stand straight up. Everyone knew her to be fearsome. Now, to hear Rose get taken down by labor was a scary thought because I'll be going through this next.

"I wouldn't say that because she screams pretty loudly at Kai all the time," Rome popped a joke, and surprisingly Frank, Rose's brothers, and the other vampires laughed lightly.

On the opposite couch from Frank and Mr. Collin. "Honestly, don't you ever stop?" Rose's older sister, named Constance, scolded Rome, and she hit his chest.

Kai softly chuckled as he took my hand and held it. After what happened yesterday with those cops, he's been avoidant with me. So it came as a shock when he finally held my hand on the couch.

Midnight rolled in, and not once had the cries stopped. Outside the window, the wind thrashed against the glass. Spooky whistles blew through the trees in the backyard. Ice rained and downpoured as thunder roared in the black sky. Following it was a haunting-like scream that tore my soul from me.

"He's here!" we loudly heard Dr. Riley raving excitedly behind Madeline's door.

"Waa! Waa!" Following that was the cry of an infant.

Soon the door opened, and the crying newborn only got louder as Jordan came out with a tiny infant wrapped in a blue blanket.

"Look at that handsome creature," Chester awed, peeking at his firstborn grandson.

Kai and I walked over to peek at him too. He was incredibly tiny and still fussing. His eyes were shut tight, and he looked so much like Jordan.

"He looks like you," Jordan's father remarked proudly.

"He's fussy like his mother," Jordan joked.

"She gets that from her mother, Zoey." Chester laughed, cracking a joke too.

Once the laughter quit, Mr. Collin smiled as he brushed his great-grandson's curled fist. "He's healthy. He'll be a strong Alpha one day."

"You should take him back to his mother," Jordan's mom suggested. "I'm sure he's hungry."

Three hours later, we all heard Rose scream as a bolt of lightning cracked across the gray clouds in the night sky. Next to come was another crying infant. Frank was the first one to greet Ace opening up the door with a newborn fussing. Like Madeline's baby, Rose had a handsome boy with a full head of hair. He had Ace's frosty snow-white hair and diamond face.

"He'd be Cruel after Cruella if he had a streak of Rose's black hair." Rome joked, yet he had a point. Rose and Ace had contrasting hair colors.

"Her mother just said that!" Ace laughed as his son wiggled his head in the blanket like he was trying to nurse.

"I'd say he's ready for his mother." Frank smiled at his grandson.

Later, I went back to the bedroom with Kai. "Are you alright?" he finally talked to me.

"I'm nervous about labor," I shared. If labor can take down a vampiress, then I know it's painful.

"I'll get you through it." Kai cuddled me up and held me. Before I knew it, I was getting groggy.
