**Ch 315: Powder of Dust [R-18]

[Viewer Discretion Is Advised]

"Kai, meet me at the police station," I summoned him in my head. My mind went into deep shock to do anything from beforehand. Reality took this long to switch on for my mind to think logically and observe my surroundings. There were two male cops in the front seat as we drove down the road at high speeds. Up until now, the last thing I remember is the sounds of people shouting to call for help.

Dark haze took my attention to take a look around. Outside the window, the cop drove down this more vacant roadway that had tree limbs overlapping a spooky shadow effect on the asphalt. Ahead of the clearing, a line of tall shadowy figures appeared. It wasn't until he drove out of the woods that I recognized those shadows weren't from the trees. Kai and his friends formed a line across the road to block it.

"Who are these guys?" the cop in the passenger seat asked his partner.

"Maybe they're lost," replied the driver while I was biting my nails. That is, if my hands weren't cuffed behind my back, then I would be biting my nails. Just when the cop was slowing down to a stop, I noticed Kai's red eyes were sinisterly glowing as he approached the driver's seat door.

"What–"

Before the cop had time to take off his seatbelt, Kai ripped the door off the hinges with a loud clanking sound of metal bending, and then he threw it across the road.

"Aaah!" he screamed when Kai scruffed his fingers onto his uniform from around his collar. Breaking the seatbelt in the process, he yanked the man out of the car, and brought his neck to his mouth to bite it.

"Back up! We need back—" his partner tried screaming into the radio, but Ivan was faster to break the door off. Using the cord to the radio, he strangled the cop's neck before he brought him to his mouth to feed on him. Between them both, they ripped into their throats violently. In a matter of seconds, they were dead, and dumped on the road. Never once had I ever seen Ivan make such a horrific kill like that. Usually, he's the voice of reason for everyone. Often times, I forget he's a deadly vampire that would kill a baby if he has a thirst for newborn blood.

Kai broke the back door off before he pulled me up to my feet, and he veered my backside toward him, which pulled me from my deep thoughts with what I had witnessed.

"Y-you didn't have to kill them." I stuttered when Jack tossed him the key to the cuffs after he unclipped it off the cop's belt.

"I'm not in any mood to be trifled with," Kai warned in this agitated voice while he uncuffed my hands.

"They were doing their job," I say as tears started to fall from my eyes. Right after Kai tossed the cuffs, he turned my waist to face him.

"They arrested you for the murder." He got snippy as he was checking my body for any injuries.

"I would've told them my part of the story at the station!" I exclaimed while more tears burst from my eyes.

"You'd have to lie." Kai pointed out.

"Why didn't you just come beforehand? You have guardians at the college. But none of them showed up before any of this happened!" I clamored at the brink of hysterics.

Kai angrily exclaimed, being more louder than me. "Rex's adviser turned them into ice sickles! His mistress Savannah blocked their scent from them sensing their presence! My brother had to help me find them. Then before my father and the sheriff had a chance to reach you, the human cops got there first! Everything happened so fast! No one had much time to react! This is why I never wanted you to attend college in the first place!"

My crying only got harder once he was done yelling in my face. After a sigh, he brought me into his arms.

"I'm sorry for yelling," he apologizes. "I got scared to lose you, and we can't afford to lose my guardians either. Everyone was at risk today."

I understood what he was saying, but all I could do was bawl in his arms.

"How should we cover this mess?" Jack asked as Kai held me.

"Use your gifts and destroy everything into nothing but powder." Kai strictly ordered.

Once I calmed down enough, I witnessed Ivan breaking the police car apart with his metal-bending gift. Clunks and clanks screeched loudly into everyone's ears as the metal from the car got twisted and bent into smaller and smaller contoured shapes. Despite the horrible situation, it was interesting to watch Ivan contort and bend his fingers like he was playing with puppets on a string. As the police car was getting twisted into abstract shapes, Glenn released hot magma from the palms of his hands. Similar to liquid glue or even lava, it gushed out from his flat palms without him using any finger movements. He poured it over the pile of metal and the other materials. The whole interior of the car and the metal frame were melting into a bubble of hot reddish goo.

Ace and Jack each tossed one body at a time into the boiling goop. Those bodies immediately dissolved to nothing, but the car took more time to melt down. Out from the nearby pond, in the grassy field, Rome stood at the roadside as he motioned his arms and wrist in a circular wave. Small bubbles started to float in mid-air from his movements. He didn't stop until he had one big bubble of water. All too easily, he dragged the bubble of water toward him and gently poured it on the lava spot Glenn had formed.

Steamy smoke and crackling sparkles popped and flew up from it gradually cooling down. Not to mention, the smells from those dead bodies mixing in with the different burning materials had fumed a strong fetid odor in the air. The smells were quite pungent enough to make me want to puke. Once it was somewhat cooled off, Ivan used an earth element to crush the rusty burnt metal into finer grains. Working together, they crumble the patrol car along with the bodies into nothing more than a fine powder of dust.

"Can you take on Rex and his clan?" I asked Kai as they were finishing up, but he didn't reply to me. Instead, his stance stood still, and a bit on the hostile side. I reckoned that as a darker haze fogged in from the sky.
