First World Auction (2)

"One of our guests doesn't know us IRL, so let's use our IGNs." Enzo told the group.

They all nodded their heads and started ordering food and drinks through the screen that appeared when they sat down.

Ivan and Hephaestus arrived a few seconds later.

Enzo gave them both a bro handshake just as he did with Vincent.

"Wassup guys." He said.

"Hey Atlas." Hephaestus responded.

Ivan looked at him for a second before responding, "Yo."

Enzo smiled at his friend because he could tell that Ivan wasn't sure if he should use Enzo's real name or not.

"Hephaestus, let me introduce you to my friends Pepper and Best Store Clerk." Enzo said.

He mostly did this to show Ivan what they were going with, but he also did need to introduce them.

"Hello." Juliet said and gave a wave.

"It's nice to meet you." Jane told him.

"Nice to meet you all as well, and all of you can just call me Phaestus (pronounced: Festus). I've realized Hephaestus is a mouthful. Haha!"

Enzo smiled and turned to Ivan.

"We need to find a nickname for you as well, I am going to get pissed if I have to take 30 seconds each time I want to say your name as well."

"..."

"Haha!"

"Hehe."

Ivan rolled his eyes as the rest of the group laughed at his expense.

Enzo then introduced Vincent and Juliet to Jane as they all sat down on the couches to prepare for the auction.

Some of them ordered food and drinks as they talked. Enzo decided to order himself a burger and some soda.

While he waited for Alfred to serve him Enzo turned to Hephaestus, "So, Phaestus, how do you want to go about it if we both want an item?", he asked.

Enzo knew that he and Hephaestus had the most money in the room at the moment, so there was a big possibility that they would end up wanting the same item at some point. He wasn't downplaying the rest of the group's wealth, as even Jane had more than 20 gold coins at the moment, but his and Hephaestus' wealth could not be compared to that.

"I say if it's an alchemist related item it goes to you, if it's a smithing related item it goes to me, and if it's neither we flip a coin." He responded.

Enzo nodded his head.

"That seems fair to me, just let Pepper or someone else flip it so we can't claim the other person is cheating."

"Okay, that's fine with me."

Alfred served the group with their food and drink just a minute before the auction timer was about to reach zero.

The group put their attention on the stage below them and pulled up the screen labeled 'Participate in the Auction'. The screen had a place to put your bid in and a place that showed the latest bids.

Soon a man walked onto the stage, presumably the announcer.

The Fae man had long black hair tied into a ponytail, a clean shaven face and tan skin. He wore a two piece black suit with a blue tie and matching blue shoes.

He walked to the middle of the stage before taking out a wand and pointing it to his throat.

"Welcome Players to the first ever World Auction! My name is Brian and I will be your announcer today!" His deep voice rumbled throughout the whole arena.

Surprisingly even the enclosed VIP rooms did not hinder his voice from reaching the players.

Enzo could hear the man as if he was standing right beside him.

"We will have two sections to this auction! The first section will last for 4 hours and will contain a large variety of items. Each item or group of items can be bid on with any amount and will go to the highest bidder. The second section of this auction will last only an hour, but each item must be bid on with a difference of 1 gold coin from the last bid."

The announcer, Brian, paused to let the rules of the auction sink in.

A lot of the players in the normal seats started making a fuss about the rules of the second section.

Most of the player base had a few gold coins at this point in the game, but that's exactly why they were upset. They would potentially have to spend their whole fortune just to win one item in the second section. Well, they were in for a great surprise when they figured out that in reality they didn't have the chance to get even a single item from the second section.

"We will get right into the first item in this auction."

Another auction house worker brought something up to the stage and displayed it beside Brian.

"The first item is a rank 1, 3 star longsword."

A large holographic screen then appeared in the corner of the large window the group was looking out of. The screen displayed the name of the weapon and its stats.

[War Longsword (3 star)]

[A basic longsword given to soldiers in war.]

[+2 Strength]

[+1 Vitality]

Brian then started the bid without giving any of the stats to the rest of the arena.

So, that's one of the advantages of the VIP rooms I guess.' Enzo thought to himself.

He then turned to Hephaestus and asked, "Hey Phaestus, how does the star system even work?"

Extant Company never fully explained the system to the players, and Enzo thought who better to ask than someone who makes weapons and armor.

"It's simple actually. A star is given for every stat point the weapon gives, so that longsword is a 3 star weapon because it gives a total of 3 stat points. The exceptions to this rule are evolution and percentage weapons. Those weapons receive a star for each attribute affected and an extra star for being an evolution or percentage weapon." He explained.

After pausing to take a breath he then continued.

"All of this changes once the ranks in weapons increase, but not by much. Once a rank 2 weapon is created it is given one star for every 10 stat points given and rank 3 weapons are given a star for every 20 stat points. Then from rank 4 and on there aren't any weapons that offer flat stats. They are all either evolution or percentage weapons." Hephaestus finished.
